The Machine got a new boat, the Advanced Convertible Tandem Inflatable Kayak. He let me check it over and take it out for a test review.

You missed the most important feature = It can carry 249 kg. So if you zip the top off and place the seat in the middle with just one person in it, you basically got an inflatable kayak with the load capacity of a canoo. That combined with no annoying plastic skegs that bottoms out makes it the perfect go anywhere camperkayak. (Perhaps except for the inflation time of all those air chambers)
Excellent addition 👍😁
Thanks, great video as always. Worth talking about the frame in the bow and stern next time. It's why the boat only needs a small skeg, effectively the boat is the skeg.
Yes I missed that point 👍😁
I was interested before getting my Seawave, what really stopped me from buying an AE1007 tandem with the backbone on the bottom is the weight: more than 23 kg. Way too much for using public transportation and doing long portages along the rivers.
Still an interesting boat btw...
I don't think this one weighs that much, although when wet it might 😅
5 years ago I would have loved an AE kayak, now I consider it as old kit in comparison to the DS kayaks available. 23kg and a faff to inflate.
I do know what you mean, and whilst this is nice to paddle, I wouldn't have one.
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner I remember looking at the AE kayaks along with the Sea Eagle Razorlite back in 2019, but it would have been expensive to import them to the UK. Luckily, the DS kayaks hit the UK shore in 2020, and man, how they have improved over the past 4 years!. Like you, I much prefer the open cockpit style kayaks, but I would also love to see a closed cockpit touring kayak to compete with the itiwit x500
@@DavidWilsonOutandAbout Grabner Escape is inflatable touring kayak. closed deck. EPDM (rubber type) material. suuuper expensive but nice too. there is second hand market in Austria/Germany where it's manufactured
I’m old school with AE, I have both the Sport and Green AF with 1 psi floor and backbone. I know they’re all about drop stitch now, but I think you’d track better with a keel especially as the boat gets longer. I wonder how different the tracking would be if he put in a drop stitch floor and made a comparison which easier to track DS or BB.
That would indeed be an interesting comparison 👍😁
Hi, thanks for the review, what camera and mount do you use ? I want to do exactly the same
This is my setup ua-cam.com/video/oHuuBn87sFs/v-deo.html and I'm currently using a DJI Osmo Action 3 👍😁
Great video! Since you also own the Chelan 140, which one is faster between the 2 of them? how do you find the foot rest in the Chelan vs the foot brace of the AE kayak, comfort wise? I am looking for a faster kayak than the one that I own ( AE Straitedge2Pro ) but I am undecided between the AE Advanced frame Elite and the Chelan 140 or 155. Very curious to have your feedback on that! Take care.
I would say this is faster than the Chelan. This is sleeker with a bow designed to cut through surf and waves whereas the Chelan slaps about on top.
I can't recall what the foot rest was like in this but I didn't have an issue with it. The one in the Chelan is ok.
I hope that helps 👍😁
Good idea… but like you I don’t like being confined
Aye that aspect isn't for me :)
How do you afford all this from cleaning houses? I get home every day after cleaning and I barely have energy to eat before passing out. 😢
This wasn't my boat, it's a friend's. As for affording stuff, I have low outgoings - no kids, low-ish rent etc 👍😁
Having a good accountant pays dividends when self employed
when you do what you like you find some energy. I always have energy to watch youtube and MoreThanJustaCleaner. before covid I did force myself running long distances with a schedule to stick to.
@@kristaps2010 that is very true. I like my work too so I actually find it quite energising, perhaps because I'm not mentally fighting it or wishing I was doing something else 👍😊
@@spitfire9880 totally agree 👍😊
