Interesting that it’s wider and more stable than the Story. You have restored my faith in 3 panel drop stitch yaks. Sandbanks kit is top quality too, may get one of these. Have you used it on the sea at all?
@@TheKayakCrew no I've only had a go in it this once for the review. One of our group did some grade 1 whitewater and a couple of 2ft weirs in the Story and Jon did the same whitewater but not the weirs in this. I can't see this boat being hard to handle on relatively calm seas.
@@CaptApril123 depends on what you want it for, how small you want it to pack down and how light you want it to carry. Check out my Aquaglide Deschutes videos - drop stitch isn't everything! Far from it 👍😁
Nice review, it reminds me of the Sea Eagle kayak. Yeah unusual valve location, I wonder why they chose to put them on front. Tell your friend that he could buy some NRS pvc foot rests (he could just google "NRS PVC Kayak Foot Braces") but if he does buy them, to make sure he gets the pvc version. I bought 2 pairs for my Aquamarina K440 and they're great, I've had them for 2 years already and I'm really happy with them. I hope everything's going well for you mate, all the best from Chile.
Hi Carl, im in the market for a new kayak, was thinking of the aquatec ottawa pro but net world sports have run out and dont know if they gonna get anymore ,was thinking of the aqua marina tomahawk 375 then i see this vlog on the sandbanks explorer which i really like ,whats your opinion on comparing the tomahawk to the explorer, tho i think im gonna pick the explorer 🚣👍🙂
I don't know much about the Tomahawk other than it's similar in design to the Explorer. It might be worth comparing the width of the Tomahawk, Story Highline and the Explorer, especially if the feeling of stability is important to you. If the Tomahawk is a similar width to the Story it'll likely feel less stable than the Explorer.
Hi carl ,iv just bought the explorer, really nice kayak and i cant wait to take it down the Basingstoke canal next month for my first trip in it ,definitely an upgrade on my itiwit 100 ,gonna try my first kayak wild camping in it this summer ,thanks for your review ,its what made me pick this one 👍🚣🏄🙃🙂

Just bought the Explorer. Enjoyed the use. Packing it for winter but worried about the sharp turns when folded. Will they last?
@@michaelwilliams-rw3mk I don't see why not, so long as you don't store it somewhere really cold.

I see a drop stitch kayak in my future. I'm really impressed by them. Great review thanks.

Hi there, thanks for your kind words and the foot rest info, I'll let him know 👍😁
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner no problem mate, I'm glad to help. Cheers
I agree about the NRS foot braces. Added them to my Paddle North Karve XL (similar to the Ottawa Pro 2 person), and the work like a dream.
@@jasonfleck8929 Good to know :)
Fantastic Video. Well Done.
Cheers buddy 😁

You're welcome Brian. It's a good craft. I did a camping trip or 2 with the Story which is smaller so you should be golden with the Explorer 😀
Hhhaaaaaa feel golden, well at least you didn't call me long John silver 😂🛶🥱🤔😅😅
