@@stevenbaczekarchitect9431 Steve, do your floor joists hang into this HDR if they were to be perpendicular? Obviously sizing the HDR to support the floor as well.
Steve, thanks for another detailed and interesting video. As always, ignore the trolls and please continue to keep this kind of content coming. We really appreciate all the things you are sharing. 👍

Hi Steve, why is it necessary to use treated window buck in this detail? you typically use that in a double mudd sill detail to catch a zip r, but i can't understand why its necessary for window bucks. thanks in advance
Terrific teaching as always. I love the way you’re able to mesh engineering, science, design, and art!
Nice detail. So do they mount curtains or blinds to the ceiling, then? Is there structural provision in the ceiling in front of the window for that?
Really smart detail to gain the height for the windows and door Steve. Tilt and turn triple glazed windows are sweet
Genius! However 2D graphic shows the joists perpendicular to double LVL and not as built. Regardless, I like it and will save for future reference.
It does, I can't remember why we switched the framing direction, it doesn't really matter, the detail is essentially the same

Great detail. Thanks!

That is a great detail. Makes it very nice
Steve … Happy New Year 2025 …. I am wondering how you would detail the vanishing header when the floor joists run perpendicular to the header?
Just asking. You said the windows don't have to be tempered. Some builders after a certain size get all windows tempered for worker safety. Good idea?
Genius
Flood bait.
