A port of the most successful arcade racer ever, the home versions of Daytona USA include the same elements that made the original version successful: three highly detailed tracks, arcade driving physics that challenge the player to find the best trajectory to make a flying lap without kissing the rails and beating the checkpoint timer. The 40 cars of the Easy race (later named 3-7 Speedway), one of the stalwarts of the original version, are also present in this version.
These home versions include a new mode (Saturn or PC Mode, depending on the platform) where the three tracks are played without the timer, and optionally in mirror mode, using one of the bonus cars (with additional abilities such as driving on grass or hitting the rails without losing speed) and in one of three lengths: Normal (identical to the arcade original), Grand Prix (2.5 times longer) and Endurance (10 times longer).
On the downside, detail and frame rate suffered a drop to fit the game into the limited hardware of the Saturn and Personal Computers, and lacking any kind of multiplayer, comparing to the two to eight player rumbles of the arcade version.

Great game. I love pulling this out and playing on PC from time to time since I have the disc version.
remember being 6 and playing this on saturday mornings on and old white PC with win 98, good times, year was 1999

Awesome Nostalgic Arcade Game 90s. I'm Playing this on My Laptop... but didn't have a Sound this Music... because it was not heard when I finished Downloading it. So there is only a Sound Test.
Model 2 intro brings back memories of when I had my Saturn. My childhood!

Whats funny about the saturn/pc port when developers tried to simulate the thrill vibrating motion of the stock car on the original arcade machine, the car ended up behaving as if two lovers are having sex inside.

The PC Port was also made by SEGA though...
It's superior too as the draw distance that the Saturn port was maligned for constantly (despite it being fine in hindsight) is tweakable and improved on PC. The rare framerate drops that happened too on Saturn aren't present on strong PCs

El clásico de los clásicos de AM2 de la gran compañía de Sega. La de horas que me pasé en los salones arcades jugando a esta maravilla,y mira que me gustaba y me gusta,pero no soy muy bueno, molaría que pudiésemos jugar a dobles, un saludo Guardian!
Es que no es un juego sencillo, ni mucho menos. Para completarlo y poder subir el vídeo he tenido que jugar varias partidas y reducir el nivel de dificultad porque incluso en "normal" la fase experta raya lo imposible. Y, como comprobarás, a lo largo de la partida apenas cometo errores y la conducción es casi perfecta. Es una lástima que no cuente con la posibilidad de disputar partidas multijugador, ya que en caso contrario podríamos haber echado alguna carrera. ¡Un saludo!

Año 97, mi tía se había comprado una nueva PC y en la casa de informática le habián regalado un disco promocional de SEGA con algunas demos. El Baku-Baku, un Sonic (creo que el & Knuckles) y el Daytona. La de vueltas que le pegue al circuito beginner no tiene nombre. Si mal no recuerdo nunca subi de la posición 30 jajaja. Muy buen juego.
La verdad no recordaba que el juego tuviera ese grosero popping. Increíble que en la época no molestara.
Al principio cuesta un poco hacerse, pero con práctica se acaba consiguiendo. La clave del éxito radica en el control del freno a la hora de tomar las curvas, ya que éste se comporta de manera totalmente diferente a la que estamos acostumbrados en otros títulos de conducción. Una vez se logra dominar esa faceta del juego, lo demás viene todo rodado.

I used to play this game it was fun I always played the beginner track. The other more advanced tracks look hard. I can't play it now since I have only modern laptop. If there was a way to play it again on the new window 10 that would be great.

Este juego lo probe en arcade y ahora es uno de mis juegos favoritos de la arcade, pude jugarlo en MAME pero la tasa de FPS era muy baja, se jugaba fatal, ahora que veo una version para pc (en realidad es la version de sega saturn pero en pc) estoy muy contento
La mejor opción para jugarlo hoy en día es el model 2 emulator. Te lo recomiendo.
O la version de PS3 o 360 en RCPS3 o Xenia. o TeknoParrot bajo Sega Racing Classic pero sin ningun tipo de letra en las canciones (incluida la intro) :(

playing this on my xbox series s using dos box pure windows 98
This basically looks identical to the Saturn version but with a higher res and frame rate. The pop up is even the same.
How did you get this game to run smooth? I tried it on my PC and it ran pretty bad, even after enabling compatibility mode.
It very much likes pre WinXP, I have the disk version and is a pain to run off other then my Win98 PC
@@arcadeportal32 Sounds about right lol, the few times I got the game to work on Windows 10 it ran like complete ass, and even in compatibility mode it didn't really do it any favors. I guess a Windows 98 virtual machine would do
@@towinrei I can't remember "it's been awhile", but even on XP I think I had a few issues getting it to work sometimes. I think the disk autorun didn't work or something & I had to run the game manually from program files with compatibility.

Juegazo..lo veo mejor que la version de Saturn..pero por debajo de la placa arcade de Model 2.
Sí supera a la versión de Saturn, aunque como dices no llega a la altura de la de recreativa. Aun y todo, resulta muy jugable a pesar de su escasez de circuitos.

Hombre, yo creo (en mi humilde opinion) es mejor la version de Saturn (no mucho tampoco) exceptuando el tema cargas. Aparte que la version de PC estaba claramente basada en la version de Saturn.
***** Yo estoy con Raymon, la versión de Saturn tiene carencias y grandes, pero por ejemplo la sensación de velocidad o la tasa de frames están mas logradas que en la de PC.

Lazy port of the Sega Saturn version. I guarantee if they bothered to optimise for PC they would have removed those annoying pop ins and clean up the visuals.

mi daytona usa pc no tiene el sonido de la música de fondo, sólo los sonidos de automóviles y el narrador.

+Bernard Aristides ¡Hola! Me extraña que no se ejecute la música durante la partida porque yo lo conseguí sin necesidad de hacer nada. Eso sí, fue necesario que configurara los parámetros necesarios a partir del menú principal.
De todos modos, he de decirte que el juego no lo tengo subido aún a la página. Lo que podría hacer es compartirlo a través de un servicio externo como MEGA y facilitarte el enlace a continuación. No obstante, si por privado me facilitas los datos de registro ("nick" y correo electrónico), podría darte de alta para que descargues otros juegos que también te puedan interesar.

gracias por responder, yo ya podía resolver el problema de los sonidos, lo que necesita es una rom "daytona usa U" del "Sega Saturn" (en el sitio emuparadise tiene ), y copie el archivo "SOUNDS.BIN" a la carpeta daytona usa del PC y listo.

I love Daytona! But I can't seem to run my original copies on Windows XP... is there a way to do this or should I get an old pc with Windows 95/98?
I've recorded this video in a Windows 7 (64 bits version) without problems. Try to set compatibility mode for the game and choose Windows 98 or 95 if it continues without work.
GuardianMisterioso Thanks for you quick response! I will give it some other try. For now, the best I could get with compatibility mode was the game running but with graphics mixing with desktop wallpaper; as a result, it was totally unplayable.

Yes get a windows 9x dos pc I have one and it’s so fun, Pentium 2 or III and a voodoo 3 it’s pure beige bliss. No need for a 486 cpu to play old dos games except maybe the sensitive ones but they are few and far between plus you’ll be distracted with the almost 2 decades of other games that can run on this beast.

how i can get music?
The PC conversion played worst than Sega Saturn, despite was a direct port from. I never understood why Sega Pc never released a 3dfx glide patch like did with ManxTT or Last Bronx. The same with VF2, where characters got "Model2 design" (despite hands and fingers was like blocky "Sega Saturn design").
I haven't been able to get this game to work on Windows 98 I was able to install it but it says it needs a 16bit display, I set it to 16 bit and then it says it needs to be set to 256 colours

Intenta utilizar una máquina virtual que te permita jugarlo bajo Windows 95 o Windows 98.

Simplemente tienes que descargar una máquina virtual como puede ser "VMware", "Virtual Box" o "Virtual PC" y, a continuación, instalar el sistema operativo que desees para ejecutar tus juegos preferidos a través de ella.

One of the worst ports i've ever played. It's so dissapointing that, despite how powerful PCs were already at that time, this opportunity was completely delayed in favour of a simple port of the Sega Saturn release, which, to add salt to the injury, was already.
On modern systems is almost unplayable unless you have a CPU wrapper like dxwnd. It barely runs at 20FPS almost all the time.
I will just say one thing, stay the hell away from this port. Either emulate/play on an arcade club the original Model 2 release or play it on Xbox360/PS3 on its remaster in Xbox Live/PS Network (i have this one.).
