  • Finally I can finish assembling the Subaru STI motor! In this video we will finally see if it runs or not, if it will knock, ping, squirt, or just blow right up. Grab a beer, sit back, have a laugh, and let me know how many dumb mistakes I've made.

I also like the longer videos. Seems like you don't get as much info from the short ones. Plus it gives me something to do at 2 or 3am while everyone else is sleeping. Lol. Thanks for the videos !

At 1:15:47 you asked to what pressure we inflate our tires. I like minimum rolling resistance so typically go to near max instead of the cushier pressures typically posted on the door label.
Years ago I used to wear out the center of the tire faster doing this, But, for some reason, in the last couple of decades I haven't detected this problem. Maybe they build tires different now than they did in the year 2000?

Thanks for replying! I do as well, both for lower resistance and for more responsive handling.

At 1:00:10 in, when you are feeding pressurized oil into the engine, I missed where you attached the hose. Somewhere feeding the oil pump?

I attached the hose where the oil filter screws on. I really should install an inline filter of some sort when doing this though.

It is definitely completely one way or the other. It seems either people want hour long videos (which I personally like as well) or short to the point 3 minute videos. I think it depends also on what you watch the videos on, a phone or the tv/computer. I watch on TV and watch UA-cam videos instead of cable TV shows.

Good series Andy. You must be a Subaru God or they are just a piece of crap that no one wants to work on. 🙂. Any lamp post in your future?

I like them, and yes they do have their issues especially rod bearings. But it's not their fault, engineers designed them to fail. Also yes there are plans for more light poles.
