A big part of the chaos at the beginning of a new game is all the battles that take place as factions smash their new shiny fleets against each other. A salvagers dream.

I'm really looking forward to this let's play. I found your channel from your Timelines tutorials. As a new player I got completely overwhelmed trying to figure out the trading as the tutorials kick you off into timelines after only the basic tutorials are finished. I also had to watch your defang timelines mission to figure out how to not just get obliterated while trying to destroy the gun placements and may need even more as I only hit Graph 5 so far.
I'm looking to start the open sandbox after I finish timelines and being able to watch someone who actually knows what they're doing go through a start is quite valuable as its a bit overwhelming with options. Any tips and tricks you can provide for getting things off the ground or how to better navigate the UI would be appreciated (like seriously how do I view my inventory...)

I'm so glad you're showing off wayward scion as it's the new young gun, which is to say that it's the new best option for new players because of the better starting ship compared to the Elite as well as the fact that it starts the first mission chain marked as active to let players pick up a free trader straight out of the gate... Granted, it isn't a very good trader, but it's free and comes with a load of medical supplies to be delivered for a nice sum of proffit so there's no reason not to grab it instantly, even if you are just going to sell it :D You can start a plot line then leave it forgotten for hours, or even days before you finally get around to doing it, so my suggestion is to take the first mission, deliver the goods, then go screw off for a while until you feel ready to do the rest.
Edit: for those curious, My new game path either begins with that first hatikva trade plot mission or the first part of emergence to grab the abandoned grouper small miner that spawns right after entering watchful gaze. A note for that grouper though, it usually spawns without the targetting computer which will need replacing before it can be used. You'll be able to replace the computer and hire a pilot with the initial 10k budget, but since you do get 5k for reaching boron territory you should be good to get your first two passive income sources up and running relatively easily. Oh, and if you push that mission a bit farther there's even a boron fighter in it. That path is amazing but requires DLC. Without DLC I would fly around and pick up the other 6 free ships scattered around. There was a video guide made recently about it so a quick yt search should have you settled.

The opening game quote... @3:50 "Reality is that part of the imagination we all agree on." ... gives credit to "Unknown". Looking it up on the net, Robert J Ringer is given credit. I have no idea who actually coined the phrase, but I am surprised with how our society has taken up the mantra, "I'll see you in court", that the game designer has not been served some legal notice from some neighbor of the guy who bagged Robert's groceries one time 14 years ago. Meh. Either way... thanks for the awesome content.
