Incredible! This Etude is so difficult and it seems so fluent under the fingers and … feet of Paul Jacobs. And what energy!! Congratulations with great respect!
Dr. Jacobs, thank you for working so hard to reach the heights you have and are reaching. I was reminded of this piece today, which I heard you play in Raleigh NC in 2012 when you played the dedication concert of the new Buzard pipe organ at Hayes Barton UMC. Listening to it again this evening, I am just so inspired about a life of music, a life of beauty, the rewards of one's labor, and the endowment of God's good gifts in His creation. God bless you. I hope to hear you again in the next year or two! I am many decades your senior, but you have been a source of ongoing inspiration and mentor to me "from afar."
Absolutely incredible! I thought I'd seen everything there was to see in terms of organ virtuosity on UA-cam, but this has blown me away! Paul Jacobs, you are the greatest.
THE BEST OUTSTANDING ARTIST ORGANIST IN THE WORLD DR.PAUL JACOBS .I AM SO HONORED TO KNOW YOU DEAR PAUL. TERRIFIC. DER BESTE ORGELSPIELER IN DER WELT WAS EINEN GRAMMY GEWONNEN HATTE. CEL MAI FAIMOS ORGANIST DIN LUME CARE A CISTIGAT GRAMMY. EXTRAORDINARA PERFORMANTA IL PIU GRANDE ORGANISTE DEL MONDO PAUL JACOBS CHE HA WENTO UNO GRAMMY. BRAVISSIMO
I don't know how many times I have listened to this, but each time I do it is more thrilling. I was not familiar with Demessieux until I heard Octaves and I have since explored her music (hard to find) and discovered her genius. Thank you Paul Jacobs for your playing with the energy and emotion the piece deserves. Also, enjoyed your interview with Carol Williams!
This is great stuff, I live in San Francisco and have gone to all of Paul Jacobs' concerts at the Symphony Hall which is where I heard him play this piece. Bought tickets for his next concert in April already :-)
I love it so much that I cried! This is so amazing! I really love the organ and I was so speechless when I have received E-mails from Dr. Jacobs. I want to be just like him. He is the star in playing the pipe Organ!.! xoxo, JB.
Who the hell do you think you are? Bravo! Bravo, dear Paul and congratulation. Obviously you've set your standards at the highest level of accomplishment. Sent with love and admiration. CVD
Send that man a case of Hennessy XO, please, someone or group of someones! Beethoven, who was also an organist, was right - the master organist is the chiefest of musicians ... no more qualified an authority than that.
+peter krauss I think... He plays it JUST GREAT!.... just... not a particular great piece of music... unLIKE the Chopin Octaves... where... the technique.... is REALLY.... all about the music... and... here... the sound (can we call it music) is really all about the technique... STILL... he's AWESOME.... and plays it FULL out!
I am JB and you are on idiot! Are you a Professor at the University in Juilliard? wow did you win a grammy award like DR.Jacobs did? So please watch your mouth you are just jealous! Give me a Break! I thought you are klever because toy are comming from Europe I believe but I see yoy are just jealous!
Haha! Very true. This dreck is just designed to be difficult and to show the skill of the performer. Only people who find it easy to learn those kind of pieces play it.
+J. K. Oh na ja vielleicht hat er nicht gewust das man das so schreibt weil er ueberhaubt nicht Deutsch kann.So die was das nicht können die solen sich auch zurück halten. Danke
WOW! The virtuosity is astounding! I am speechless... BRAVO!

great to be a part of the production... big fun and a wonderful time listening to paul play.
The audience reaction speaks for itself. He is performing tomorrow March 18, 2017 in El Paso Texas, we are happy to have him.
Almost too much going on to comprehend! Fantastic. I'm surprised the thing didnt first into flames!
The best performance of "Octaves".

He was Cameroon Carpenters Organ teacher!
Now, just imagine Jeanne Demessieux playing this in her high heels!

Oh Yeah! You hit it out of the park, Mr. Jacobs.
I heard you play at Middlebury College where you looked like Gumby and melded into the organ as you played. Bravo !

Dazzling and quite a showpiece for pipe organ!
Nicely recorded in an ambient environment.
Superb artistry.
Always when I look at your feet, I call them Flying feet.I would love to try to play this.
YOU ARE THE KING OF THE PIPE ORGAN
Absolutely incredible! I am completely awed!
I love it so much that I cried!

BRAVO ! (from Italy)
Paul Jacobs is certainly the technician of the organ!
a regular jimmy smith! can't imagine how those organists manage to play all those manuals and also bass--blindly--with their feet...
SIE FLIEGEN MIT HAENDE UND FUESSE AUF DIE TASTSTATUR!
SO JUNG UND SO WUNDERBAR! KLASSE1!
+J. W. K. Ja das stimmt auch.Manchmal bin Ich sehr enteuscht was man so alles schreiben kann.Ja und dabei macht man auch Fehler.
Der einzige in der Welt der beste Orgenspieller sehr Professionel.
Il unico Maestro del mondo. Очень хорошо

Pianists boast their wrist technique, so organists do with their ankle technique.
There is PLENTY of wrist technique here!!!
not exactly compelling

+Rightsideofthelaw7 Who is NKgamer?
+J. W. K. like u do ha ha
More dreck modern music. Just because it was written doesn't mean it should be played.
Haha! Very true. This dreck is just designed to be difficult and to show the skill of the performer. Only people who find it easy to learn those kind of pieces play it.
+J. K. Da hast Du aber recht. Viele wissen gar nichts wie schwer eine Orgel gespielt wird. So etwas naives. Was sols das sind die 7 Jahre von zuhause
+J. K. Oh na ja vielleicht hat er nicht gewust das man das so schreibt weil er ueberhaubt nicht Deutsch kann.So die was das nicht können die solen sich auch zurück halten.
Danke
Bravo, Paul!
