Only problem with this design is they destroy pockets unless you get kydex for it. I personally love the design but it works for the martial arts I've been doing of many years. I like you can use it as a let say gentle Persuader instead of showing the blade.
The Zap is not plastic/polymer its Called grivory. it is way harder and more durable then what the Glock is made of. of course it makes it lighter in the pocket and the wallet haha. All the metal plus blade is also better than your standard budget CRKT'S out there..just thought I'd let you know 👍
Not much better. The standard provoke is just D2. And the frn /grivory is even more crappy. Better off just buying a spyderco with premium materials. Crkt is such a let down.
@@Apex_grind562 i own the orange one and I have no problems with it.. The plastic is super super nice not gonna lie and I own the CRKT M16-14ZLEK only problem is no loctite in the pocket clip and the serrations could be a tad sharper but it still does what you need it to and its well sturdy and the blade dont wobble I do like CRKT but I am no fan boy of them maybe the karambit one but that's due to a million and one ways to keep me occupied playing with it
Read a little bit about people carrying these... some say they can cut up your pockets. Do they? Been eyeballing these knives for a while and they seem neat.
I went with the zap, for its purpose the blade material is more than adequate and the polymer is able to withstand hard impacts like using its blunt force option so it'll be more than durable for its purpose also. Its lighter, I like the neon color and it is more affordable. All in all I'd say it has the better value for what you get compared to its more expensive versions. Great video, thanks for doing the comparison
It's Grivory. The Orange, Zap & Metallic Blue are all Grivory. Which is a strong-versatile "Thermoplastic." I own the original w/o the glass breaker. The grivory Orange, Metallic Blue & Zap. The grey aluminum Compact and 2023's Blue EDC. Next will be the 2023 Trainer. I'm slowly working my way to the First Responder & Serrated Blade. But that's $425. I want Cold Steel's $500 cpm-3V Kukri Plus.
Ebay has these for around $85. A lot cheaper than their normal price, and way cheaper than the all metal provoke. I have the all metal provoke, one of my favorite knives. Ordered the plastic zap provoke to try it out.
What’s your thoughts on the blade material difference, which some folks highlight!?! Just curious, do you use the kydex holster at all? Thanks for the video. 😎👍🏼
I think the insane $200 price tag is the problem and downfall of this design this budget brand knife should not exceed $80 in an all steel trim... the plastic version of this knife reminds me of the quality you'd receive in elementary school scissors....
If anything. I want a better Blade Steel than D2. Cpm-3v minimum. High ends would be elmax or m390. Cheaper than D2 is AUS-8. Used on the Cold Steel Safe Maker I & II.
Lastly.. i wish they would sell a new CRKT (like the 2023 releases) but instead of diff styles. A better Blade Steel. There are many options above D2 Steel. Like CPM-3V. Even Cold Steel uses it on occasion. Like one of the SRK's or Kukri Plus that was just released for $500+
$100 for Orange, Zap & Metallic Blue $200 for Original/ Serrated $225 for First Responder 2023 Blue Aluminum EDC is $150ish Grey Compact is $150ish as well. 2023 Trainer is as low as $77 on DLT
I mean both knifes if u take them for assassination jobs they will work well or combat situations they work the same it's just that one of these knifes (the original) will have longer life span than the copy version that's kinda all the difference about it like if u try kill someone with one of these they will work same
Got 1 in desert sand colour... love it, no carbide glass breaker though. This is like no other knife I've owned, extremely comfortable in hand
Ive only found those variants on Blade HQ

It's still plastic, no matter what the brand name.

That's what I just did haha Spyderco Endura 4 I feel has better quality than Crkt. And lighter...

It’s not plastic it’s glass reinforced nylon

D2 is a tool steel. It's a mid range steel. Hard to find the kydex holster.
@@HalloweenStalker666 I don’t think it’s D2 across all the Provoke models though. The Grivory models are not as stated on their website

What you're paying for really is the patent.
$100. And its D2 Blade and Grivory Handle. Which is a strong-versatile Thermoplastic.

I got the green one. Glad it’s almost the same.
They should make a titanium provoke
That's the original protype model. Dk if they still sell it though from Joe Caswell site

Thanks for the comparison, can we get any prices on any of these?
$75 for zap $150 for original
$100 for Orange, Zap & Metallic Blue
$200 for Original/ Serrated
$225 for First Responder
2023 Blue Aluminum EDC is $150ish
Grey Compact is $150ish as well.
2023 Trainer is as low as $77 on DLT
En Colombia en dónde la puedo conseguir
Is the blade steel the same?
Bom dia como eu faço pra adquirir obrigado
I would actually prefer the polymer
Grivory "Thermoplastic"

$200. 😮😯😳

@@Dav624 LOL badass
you sound like elon musk
The Original seems faster, is it Assisted?
Nope, just metal-on-metal, so it moves more cleanly.
