Umm... Depending on the lock, it can be different. However, the most consistent and reliable way is the "boring" system of methodically starting at 0-0-0 and going to 9-9-9 testing to open for each combination/code. It is super-boring, and not a quick fix, but almost always works unless there is a mechanical malfunction inside the lock.
