Think this scene kicks ass, really made pyramid head all that much more menacing when he just stands there unflinching to the bullets unlike the first game where he gets lit up and stumbles around awkwardly. Really impressed how they managed to make an already ominous horror figure like PH even more unsettling in his mannerisms.
Im not sure if anyone noticed what im going to point out here but in this scene i was also curious why PH didnt kill him in the closet until i crossed over to the other world into the mirrored version of this room. If u take a look at the same closet in the other world, PH slashed the closet viciously with the intent to kill whatever was inside. This made me question if PH was bound to follow certain rules or restraints in one reality but his intent still happened in the other world where hes most active. So even tho in the other world PH did slash through the wall and closet together, he wasnt able to apply the same intent in the world james was in at the time so thats why he was "glitching" and making the weird motions. PH attacked james but for whatever reason couldnt perform this attack in the world james was in but once james crosses over, PH tries to kill him without anything holding back his intent but unfortunately the siren goes off returning james to the normal fog version of the world and PH has to abandon his fight vs james. I hope this makes sense to anyone reading. Let me knw 😅
Fascinating! It reminds me of homicidal ideation. Like, in Pyramid Head's well...'head', maybe he wanted to maul James, but since it wasn't the otherworld, it didn't transpire
This is an awesome analysis of the plot of what may be occurring here! I love it, dude! What I think is actually happening via STORY-wise, is that this is actually the first chance that the Red Pyramid Thing gives James to confront himself. James doesn't even open the closet door and begins shooting the pistol out of some sort of... hope. This is when it's realized he is not ready for that yet. More pain is needed, more fear, more stripping away.
When he grabs his head and does the arm wave I think he slashed James in the other world. I was also surprised and scared when I opened up the door and the closed was absolutely slashed.
it didn’t kill him because pyramid heads goal isn’t to kill james, but to punish him and make him remember his guilt for killing mary. if he kills him, he can’t remember what he did and feel guilty about it
Um Pyramid Head does do the twitch to that extent in the original. He just did it with the female nurse on the floor after the simulated sex scene seconds before which this garbage remake censored. Go watch it yourself watch?v=-y1uhkTLbTA The original is more grotesque then this crap.
@@sirendafox6463 Does it now? I suggest you look at comparison videos of the original FMV's to the remake of the same scenes. If you still maintain what you wrote to me then just enjoy your souless slop of a game then.
@NAzo. Yes the remake goes hard, its not soulless there was clearly a lot of passion put intk this project. Not every scene has to be 1:1 in otder for it to get the same point scross since the same thing happens here as the original judt portrayed slightly differently. Personally I somewhat doubt konami wouldn't have allowed the implied assault with the more realistic graphics. I would also guess it could have been rated higher than M by esrb. The realistic graphics definitely make things feel more real and a bit less uncanny then the og. I love the og and ill probably always consider it the goat, however i think the remake is extremely good and far better than i thought. It wont be on the same level as the og, but nearly nothing is and the remake is still damn good.
@@alyxluvssnah it’s there. It’s not a cutscene like this. He’s literally just standing behind bars in a red light. Guess someone could miss it if they’re not paying attention but you can def see him before this.
It's actually interesting and I didn't think about it until just now, but I like that James' reaction to the first injured Mannequin isn't fear, but seems to almost be concern, like he's less worried about a monster being in front of him and more worried that it's been injured. I also really like that the way Pyramid head acts is actually less antagonistic. He's an observer and borders on a guardian figure, rather than just attacking James 24/7, a trait significantly more fitting to him. After he's shooting him, that strange twitching he does almost seems like he's trying to communicate with James. The first set of twitches and jerks are incredibly angular and sharp, seeming aggressive, like he's suggesting "action, fight, kill", and then after James acts, he grips his helmet to stabilize himself and dismisses with a wave, almost satisfied with James standing up for himself and choosing life. I'm reading deeply into it, but SH is a series that survives off of individual interpretation.
And yet it doesn't explicitly show what pyramid head was doing. The original game showed it. Maria is covered up this avoidance of Sex Is like taking something out of a book and changing it because of modern sensibilities. I don't think that's a very good thing
@VolkColopatrion I'm sorry that leopard print is no longer in style (thank the Lord for that) my guy. She's still seductive just in a different way. If you really miss Christina Aguilera from the teen choice awards circa 1999 then I'm sure the modding community's got you covered.
@@el-duderino975 not to mention, the outfit is in the game as an easter egg that Maria actually comments on, much like the pizza and the bowling alley.
@@VolkColopatrionI understand what you mean completely, but believe it or not multiple people Who have worked on the OG SH2 have come out and said Pyramid Head wasn’t raping them, just killing them. It was just a product of PS2 animations doing the best they could to convey that affect. I thought the same as many others for years though.
Team Silent made a 3 minute short film called “Fukuro” in 2001. Pyramid head actually does some of these weird body movements in the film. It’s kind of neat to see the connection between the game and the short.
Just played this last night and it was legitimately the most scared ive ever been playing a video game. I just came off of re4 remake where leon treats his situation pretty lightly, so to see james almost crying from fear made me feel so powerless. Like. Holy shit this guy is just as scared and incapable as i am. I am FUCKED. FUCK YES BLOOBER
I freaked out when I got to this part in the game last night. I was not expecting the twitches!!! I actually think I enjoyed this scene more than the original. The fact that he has no reaction at all when James shoots him is crazy.
I’ve always wondered even in the original why does pyramid head grab the middle of his pyramid and like shake it around? I don’t think it’s because of being shot either because in the original he does it before being shot. He grabs the middle of his head and shakes it. Timestamp for context is 1:53
If pyramid head is a reflection of James repressed guilt, then the pyramid must represent the sheer weight of that guilt.. I'd imagine carrying that pyramid is supposed to be extremely uncomfortable and disorienting.. so every now and then he grabs it like he despises wearing it. Also if your head was in that thing and it got shot several times.. do you know how deafening the sound would be in that little space.. and how much it would vibrate from the impact? I'm sure pyramid head did get dazed a bit. In the original.. it might just be pyramid head hinting to James that he is holding onto something heavy as well, just like him.. maybe a bit of a reach
@VictimOfFat3 not a reach at all! In fact I think you have one of the best explanations I’ve heard! I really dig how you pointed out that the pyramid head would be extremely uncomfortable to wear… I’ve never really thought about that. Also could I add onto your last statement! I think you’re onto something for sure! since they (pyramid head and James) are connected and pyramid head represents all of James sickest desires perhaps his mind is just too cluttered? Like ah you ever seen that movie Mandy? There’s a scene where nic cage tries the cultists super acid and the visuals are hellish flashing red gore and blood… so maybe that’s what pyramids mind is like and he has to kinda snap himself out of his violent or sexual trace… I think James is also kinda like the man from “a black and white cartoon about roof tiles” which is about a man who on the outside is extremely quiet but on the inside he has sick fantasies and extremely disturbing thoughts that he physically cannot manifest into reality. While washing his wife he stabs her and removes her spleen. In reality he did nothing. A man comes to the door and the main character curses him six ways to Sunday but in reality he stood there saying nothing… there’s actually 2 first is a B/w cartoon about berries than the roof tiling one ends the “series” it was created by David firth if you end up liking those I’d also suggest video dating tape which is about a man in his 40s with a childlike voice who wants a superman costume and a superman toy for his birthday… it’s really really sad once you understand what’s going on and why he is the way he is.
@@mr.skateandwatch I kinda like this version it feels like the shots just did nothing to him and he’s almost like mocking James when he grabs his head idk just made him feel more menacing to me.
@@alecedinger4506that’s exactly how I felt too with the grabbing his head and putting his hand out. Like mocking his attempt to harm him when it did nothing.
Ok but in reality not only why would you short from the only hiding spot you got but also at the one guy with a giant hunk of metal on his head’s giant chunk of metal😭
The twitching catched me off guard, I thought that the original was due to some animation errors because of how weird it was, but they kept itvhere and managed to be really scary.
Same! They managed to make it work with updated graphics. It looks like Pyramid Head is being puppeteered by James' mind. In the original, it seemed like he was just struggling with the mannequin on the ground, but this version is far more disturbing. I'm glad they kept all of Pyramid Head's awkward gestures in the game!
This is great, the shot reverse shot of both of them reveals that they are indeed the same size. It's not even subtle in this remake anymore: That's a fucked up James.
I watched the original first appearance and I think only giving a partial view of what Pyramid Head is doing here was a pretty good choice. It leaves a lot to the imagination.
Lots of drama about which version of this scene is better. I personally am a fan of both the OG and the remake. Both versions of this scene are suggestive of the same thing; some kind of aggressive sexual assault by Pyramid Head. And they’re both very successful, but I think it’s all about approach, Team Silent went one way, and Bloober another. The original version is graphic, shocking, and memorable - because it’s very visually descriptive and in your face. There’s chaotic wiggling legs, buttcheeks, and the figure positions are very pornographic in nature. The remake takes a different approach and I personally think it’s for a lot more than just toning down the visual shock of the “sex” that’s happening, or as some have suggested, that the developers didn’t have the balls to do the scene as originally created. I agree the remake’s take is not as visually shocking or iconic, but I think what’s implied by the sound design is quite disturbing, and maybe even more disturbing. The specifics of what horrid sexual acts PH may be performing are interpreted on a much more auditory level than the OG. Especially at the point in the scene when James first moves to enter the closet. The sound mix, along with the grunts and leather/rubber squeaking, becomes wetter and “drippy-er.” I dunno. There’s something quite explicit there. To be blunt, gore sounds and sex sounds are not too dissimilar here. And of course, there’s still the pornographic arrangement of the figures, although quite cropped compared to the original game, you get the idea… To be fair neither the OG or the Remake shows any real intercourse, because they can’t/ won’t. And shouldn’t have to. Since the visual design of the game was partly inspired by the paintings of Francis Bacon (whose nude, intimate figures are warped in form) I imagine the goal would be to suggest, visually or otherwise, sexual acts, movements, sounds etc, without being too objective, since these figures and scenarios are expressions of James’ subconscious mind. Of course this scene wouldn’t exist without that original, but this is a very smart interpretation of the source material.
In my opinion this cutscene is one of the weakest in the remake not just for watering down the sexual imagery but the whole scene seems to be lacking something. James just dosen't react as strongly in this new cutscene. In the og scene James freaks out before we assume Pyramid Head even notices him. Not only does James freak out but he mag dumps Pyramid Head in the body. This new scene James waits until Pyramid Head is two centimeters away from the closet and pretty calmly shoots three bullets into the most armored part of Pyramid Heads body.
I might be grasping at Straws, but one detail I did notice. After the scene ends and you go through the door to enter the otherworld you see the closet James was hiding in on the other side. It almost looks like the movements pyramid head makes in the "normal" world puts a big slash across the closet door in the otherworld where James is hiding. Like if this version was just a projection of pyramid head where the real one actually slashed at the closet James was hiding in. Maybe that's why pyramid head didn't attack him even after he shoots.
James sees PH across the bar right before this cutscene in the original. Why did they change it? Not complaining btw, just an observation. Still playing the remake and I love it thus far 💯
Yeah that's a thing the Bloober didn't think through. In the OG, he backs off because James shot an entire bullet comb at him, which visibly puts throws off PH. The Otherworld is a plane of existence that overlaps with ours in shifts, following Alessa's nightmare cycles (Silent Hill 1 and 3). The siren sets off whenever Otherworld is detangling from our reality.
So, they threw away the original first encounter? Because I loved that one, when you just casually stumble upon PH just standing there and you're like What. The. Everlasting. Fuck!
1:32 For the tech savvy, or the ones that saw the hideous topology for Pyramid Head’s helmet on Twitter: The brief visual “artifacts” that you see at the left edge of Pyramid Head’s helmet aren’t really artifacts at all, they just appear because the model is rotating. Bloober Team decided that Pyramid Head’s helmet should have worn edges, and they made the helmet’s geometry really dense to facilitate that. Why they did this, I have no idea
this is totally just my take on it but considering he doesn’t seem hurt by the bullets at all i assumed he was mocking james for thinking bullets would work on a guy with a massive metal helmet. like “oww! a scratch! the horror!”
Context is best understood by knowing _what_ is going on which is sort of "Silent Hill Lore". The being is not "alive" per say as one would recognize life, but some sort of emotional state given flesh by the town's effects. Think of a deep rooted emotional trauma you may have and give it a form. That's what the being is. It's essentially being _piloted_ by James' subconscious desire to seek punishment. In a sense it thus has two natural states; one where Silent Hill has it 'do whatever' and another where James' guilt becomes overbearing. in this scene you can see the creature being torn between these two states of action, flailing like a puppet after finally being introduced to it's creator.
This version is different from the original. The original was a shot-for-shot recreation of the assault scene from Blue Velvet. I like both versions honestly.
I'm torn on this. I'm really enjoying the game. I feel like half of this scene was done better and the other half was worse. James hiding imo is better done here. Before that, the original. Now I'm usually the kind who doesn't like censorship but that's not why I think the og is worse. It's more the sounds i think. Except for the mannequins sounds the og had better atmosphere
I think I finally put my finger on why this doesn't hit as hard as the origina for me. In the first game james is looking at pyramid threw the closet, and its almost entirely that for the exception of one scene. Here its like were looking at james as pyramid head. It comes off less imposing and claustrophobic... also im not big fan of the stare down. Like pyramid is some badass. He never felt that way in the original.
exactly, pyramid head is not some tiktok fuckboy, he's a fucking weirdo in the OG, which makes him unpredictable which in turn made him scary in the original and that extends my issues throughout the entire remake, the weirdness and obtuse presentation is completely shifted to something typical of a hollywood movie it's real disappointing even cry of fear devs understood silent hill better than this remake
To me it really feels like this game hammered down on the fact that PH is James self punishment hard. Everytime we meet him, he always stares. Always. Constantly reminding James that he cannot run away from the guilt. He'll be there, always. Least my two cents anyways. The staredown in the closet kinda made my head click at what they were going for, and then have PH lead James deeper into the He'll, just to wait for him as a boss.
I find the remake scene is much less threatening. Original had James clearly freaked out hiding in the closet, panic fires when he sees PH start to come over, and PH flails and dissappears (as cutscene ends without seeing what happens to PH). Here James calmly hides and calmly raises his gun as PH slowly walks over, then PH doesn't react to the gun before slowly walking away. James doesn't appear afraid at all, and he leaves the closet before PH is technically out of the room.
yeah no, you're just hopped up on nostalgia, fps perspective is there just shortened and mixed in with different angles, its still imposing with james' shuddering breath and still claustrophobic. Same goes for the people in this comment section, you're just hopped up on nostalgia
Comparing this scene to the one of the ps2, Pyramid head is more creepy to look at, but he is also less impactful, but this is mostly because on the classic version we see him r*ping 2 manikins but here we can't really tell what is he doing.
I think this is really interesting, for me the original left it more up to interpretation what PH was doing with the manikins, but here with the way he is holding the legs, the struggle and the noises it looks far more than (g)rape.
Because instead of having it shown directly in front of you, you have to go in with knowledge of the original game, and subtext of what he could possibly be doing behind that wall.
They didn't. The remake still has the Pyramid Head quite visibly violating the bodies. Watch the video again. They just don't linger the camera on them too much and have the lighting darkened to keep it a bit more subtle. They didn't "remove" anything here. This cutscene more or less plays out the same as it did in the original.
They modified the scene in this game, in the original Pyramid head was seen abusing two mannequines and then he happens to be looking for James but here it only seems that he brought those monsters to the room and starts posing, it doesn't seem to represent anything I don't understand why people say that this scene is more "disturbing" than the original but hey, I guess lowering expectations is today's thing
Silent hill is a weird place and everything has like 50+ different meanings depending on who you ask. To me the weird poses signify the uncomfortably of having a pyramid for a head. It made you at least a little uncomfortable or weirded out yes? I think it’s just a way to subconsciously tell James (and the player) that this place isn’t alright and that these monsters are abnormal (as if their design doesn’t do that anyways). But also it signifies to James how he should be uncomfortable and in pain for what he has done. There has been many answers as to what’s under the helmet. It’s said that it’s James’s face, a face blounded by a bunch of metal bars, or that it IS its head. Regardless, pyramid head represents James’s drive to punish himself for his sins and pyramid head is there to be that for him, but he is also a protector in a sense. This comment has gone on too long so I won’t get into that bit because there’s so much to say about this game. But tldr: pyramid head does that to invoke uneasiness and represent uncomfortability.
So much more intense and beautiful shot. Leave your nostalgia at the door. This scene is improved in the Remake. That shot of James peeping through the closet ❤
@@Velshin1986I honestly like the toned down version because it is implied, rather than explicitly shown in the og. Makes you put on your thinking cap and go, does this represent more than just butchering mannequins, and to that I say yes!
@@astogen6432 Ito confirmed on his Twitter that Pyramid Head wasn’t actually doing that. He was trying to make the scene look vaguely sexual, but not be sexual.
I've been waiting to get to this exact scene before I fully decided how I felt about the remake. I'm coming from a place of Silent hill 2 being one of my favorite games of all time, Hating every silent hill game post Silent hill 3 and feeling like the movie was a horrible adaptation, loving P.T. (before I knew it was a SH game) and feeling grateful that I got to play through it without any spoilers or info whatsoever (then being massively disappointed that it was canceled) So I'm a true fan of the originals and not some pleb that eats up everything SH. Also I had next to zero hope that Team bloober was going to be able to pull this off given how bad ALL of their horror themed games are. All that being said I am definitely disappointed that Team Bloober didn't have the balls to show this scene for what it actual was and what it was supposed to represent, really a major misstep, However I have really thoroughly been enjoying this remake thus far, not because I want to enjoy it, I've WANTED to enjoy every silent hill game but after the original 3 and the disbanding of Team Silent they have been laughably bad to me. I've been enjoying the SH2 Remake because it's genuinely been good. No matter how good it may be I did not expect it to exceed the original as that's literally impossible by the definition of a remake in this context, any remake of a game that has had this much cultural significance and that still stands alone as the single best psychological horror game to exist to date could never do it better than the original it's just not possible. But what SH2 Remake does seem to be succeeding in is not straying so far from the original where as to ruin the experience or put the original down in any way at least that's my take on it so far, I've only just gotten to this scene which was the point I was waiting for as I knew the way they handled it would really tell me if they understood the assignment and to what extent, I don't think they at all understood the assignment, I think team bloober bit off way more than they could chew and they had no idea how to handle it BUT I think what they did do was listen to the right people for a lot of it and (from what I've read) got a lot of guidance from some of the members of the original team, So do I think this is a replacement for the original? No. of course not, not even close. Do I think this game will also be remembered fondly 20+ years from now? Nope, Not even a little. Do I think this game will have even 1/4 of the cultural significance as the original does? Absolutely not. Do I think that it's a fairly faithful remake that is an enjoyable experience to play for hardcore fans of the original? Yes*. *given that you go into it with your expectations set between Low and Reasonable. Team Bloober is still a garbage studio (The lack of optimization SH2 Remake has on PC is insane) and it's painfully clear that they lacked any true understanding of the original and how it felt to play it when it was first released BUT they didn't butcher it. That's more than can be said something like say the Final Fantasy VII Remake which to me is a visually beautiful cringefest and absolute mockery of everything that made FFVII so great. I expected basically that in the SH2 Remake and I'm pleasantly surprised that it's not.
The original was miles more distrubing. Itwas hellish and incredibly unsettling. Also they backpedaled on the sexual undertones of the scrne in this one.
Is it me, or does the remake seem to shy away from building up tension and sudden moves for fear of being "too overwhelming"? In the OG, James makes a turn around the corner and immediately happens upon PH and there's nothing between them, he was only lucky that PH was too focused on his work to realize James was standing a few steps away from his right side. The urgency of the situation forces James to hastily seek for a hiding spot. You completely lose that sense of "shitshitshit!" in the new execution of the scene, because James has a comfortable window of time to look around. I do love that they made PH spasm with that chopped look, in the OG he just seems to be flailing his arms aimlessly. Remake did many things right tech-wise, but I feel like they missed the mark in the tension builup factor.
what are you spewing? The original scene had james run right into ph, the tension was upped immediately, the remake had ph suprise james who tries to sneak in the closet, its literally building tension. Its not if one is good or bad, its literally building tension. if you played the game without nostalgia goggles you'll easily find they didn't "fear of being too overwhelming" at all
@@UnoMas-e2j 0:31 you can see from this angle the wall keeps James out of PH's line of sight even as he sneaks into the closet. It's not a matter of "it has/doesn't have build up", it's a matter of understanding what builds it better. Remakes are meant to improve upon what didn't work, not just do it different for the sake of different. I didn't conclude their fear of being too overwhelming from this segment alone. I watched the elevator scenes back-to-back. They literally got rid of the screams. Nevermind that they show the bloodied spear *after* it pierces Maria, the screams that emotionally charge the situation are gone. It was a conscious decision to tone down and that's not the first time a horror game has done that. There's been an ongoing marketing practice of making horror games more digestible for modern audiences for profit. It is a decent remake, I do give it credit where it's due, but tension could've been much better.
Get off your high horse. This game was great as were the cutscenes and voice acting. Stop nitpicking and comparing this to the original and jsut enjoy the game.
@@SympatheticNightmare I'd be on a high horse if I said the entire game is bad, but I did mention what I think it did better than the OG. You can't expect people to just have an 8 or 80 take on things, and to me, the tension build-up could've been better. Maybe it is nitpicking to you, but not to me. IMO this remake is an 8/10 EDIT: Also 62 dollars for no more than 15 hours of gameplay and no Cloud Save in this day and age? Ok I'm reconsidering 7.5/10
Fun fact the reason they only imply what happens is because it was stated by the creator that pyramid head wasnt graping the creator. So they had no idea what he was doing so it was the mext best thing to do this.
@@gamesergeanthd I’ve seen that seen hundreds of times, I know it, the developers even confirmed that it wasn’t sexual. Which is probably why they made sure this time it didn’t appear that way.

Also what the hell is up with Pyramid Head not being just THERE suddenly when you open the door? James gets to dick around for a moment first before he even notices the monsters in the other room. shocking.
Bloober didn’t GET it right? …That’s sarcasm. I hate reading this same comment rewritten 1000 different ways. Everything you just said applies to the remake as well. You can choose to interpret it however you want. Every single monster feels much more in pain and panicking in the remake. The intricate animations and sounds are incredible Pyramid Head also readjusted his head in this very cutscene. Maybe you missed it with your eyes clouded with hate. And I interpreted his standing there as disinterest or disappointment. He clearly wasn’t ready to fight James at that moment. Your old game still exists. There’s room for the remake and you need to take it on its own terms. The stray hissy fits about how Bloober doesn’t “get it” is so over dramatic. They understand the story more than you ever will. Just have to inform so people are aware. So I'm well into my 2nd playthrough of the SH2 remake, using new game plus and also playing the original SH2 on my PS3 for the millionth time and the more and more upset I'm getting that with the remake, everyone and myself are getting a cheapened, watered down version. The top 2 main things that were either removed or watered down are those two scenes with pyramid head and the mannequins. The scene in the apartment with the 2 mannequins and pyramid head has been watered down and that scene at the very beginning of the first battle with pyramid head has been completely removed. You don't remove the most disturbing things. You just don't do it. And the truth is, it's censorship and people aren't getting the truly disturbing experiences. The remake is game of the year for me, I don't hate it, it's in my collection but it's definitely not better than the original which is the truly disturbing experience and those two scenes from the original has actual significance relating to James that you can't just remove, you just can't. It's so upsetting because all these people and myself are not getting the truly disturbing experience. Everyone needs to play or watch the original. I own both now, physical copies too but if I own only one, it's the original for those truly disturbing experiences.

I like how pyramid head is silently judging all of james decisions at that point before leaving
I guess it's ok to grape legs in any world 😂
it didn’t kill him because pyramid heads goal isn’t to kill james, but to punish him and make him remember his guilt for killing mary. if he kills him, he can’t remember what he did and feel guilty about it

Not every scene has to be 1:1 in otder for it to get the same point scross since the same thing happens here as the original judt portrayed slightly differently. The realistic graphics definitely make things feel more real and a bit less uncanny then the og. Pyramid Head: This shit ain’t nothin’ to me, man.
I'm reading deeply into it, but SH is a series that survives off of individual interpretation.
my god, this game looks beautiful
And yet it doesn't explicitly show what pyramid head was doing. The original game showed it. Maria is covered up this avoidance of Sex Is like taking something out of a book and changing it because of modern sensibilities. I don't think that's a very good thing

Timestamp for context is 1:53
I think it's just that he's making fun of James and pretending to be hurt
There’s a scene where nic cage tries the cultists super acid and the visuals are hellish flashing red gore and blood… so maybe that’s what pyramids mind is like and he has to kinda snap himself out of his violent or sexual trace…
I think James is also kinda like the man from “a black and white cartoon about roof tiles” which is about a man who on the outside is extremely quiet but on the inside he has sick fantasies and extremely disturbing thoughts that he physically cannot manifest into reality.
In the OG, PH reacted to the shots immediately. Here, it looks like he forgot his lines 😂

It's not even subtle in this remake anymore: That's a fucked up James.
the PH breathing sounds like a broken AC compressor, so perfectly fitting
Just made it to this cutscene with Headphones on and my gosh it felt like I was in a movie theater. So immersive and scared.
I watched the original first appearance and I think only giving a partial view of what Pyramid Head is doing here was a pretty good choice. It leaves a lot to the imagination.
Win some lose some, show vs imagine
And of course, there’s still the pornographic arrangement of the figures, although quite cropped compared to the original game, you get the idea…
To be fair neither the OG or the Remake shows any real intercourse, because they can’t/ won’t.
Pyramidhead: ouch You bastard, you shot me in the dome, who does that.

As a new comer to SH, why didn't he attack james here? And why did he go away at the end of the boss fight when the sirens were sound?
Yeah that's a thing the Bloober didn't think through. In the OG, he backs off because James shot an entire bullet comb at him, which visibly puts throws off PH.
The Otherworld is a plane of existence that overlaps with ours in shifts, following Alessa's nightmare cycles (Silent Hill 1 and 3). The siren sets off whenever Otherworld is detangling from our reality.
So, they threw away the original first encounter? Because I loved that one, when you just casually stumble upon PH just standing there and you're like What. The. Everlasting. Fuck!

Damn pyramid head, was glitched haha
1:32 For the tech savvy, or the ones that saw the hideous topology for Pyramid Head’s helmet on Twitter:
The brief visual “artifacts” that you see at the left edge of Pyramid Head’s helmet aren’t really artifacts at all, they just appear because the model is rotating. Bloober Team decided that Pyramid Head’s helmet should have worn edges, and they made the helmet’s geometry really dense to facilitate that. Why they did this, I have no idea

Why does he not react to the gunfire?

Ur a idoit and no one agrees with u
exactly, pyramid head is not some tiktok fuckboy, he's a fucking weirdo in the OG, which makes him unpredictable which in turn made him scary in the original
and that extends my issues throughout the entire remake, the weirdness and obtuse presentation is completely shifted to something typical of a hollywood movie it's real disappointing
even cry of fear devs understood silent hill better than this remake

@@Usuario-tw5zuif u wanted a remastered just say it.
Probably just to emphasize how unnatural and inhuman he is.
So much more intense and beautiful shot. Leave your nostalgia at the door. This scene is improved in the Remake.

Dude, you should put a tl;dr version.
Spitting facts
IMO this remake is an 8/10
EDIT: Also 62 dollars for no more than 15 hours of gameplay and no Cloud Save in this day and age? Ok I'm reconsidering 7.5/10
Fun fact the reason they only imply what happens is because it was stated by the creator that pyramid head wasnt graping the creator.
So they had no idea what he was doing so it was the mext best thing to do this.
Still prefer the original
Lol
He's not having sex with them like he did in the original
He never did in the original

@@RegisBlack233 look up Shirrako's SILENT HILL 2 - Pyramid Head First Encounter Scene and watch at 0.17
@@gamesergeanthd I’ve seen that seen hundreds of times, I know it, the developers even confirmed that it wasn’t sexual. Which is probably why they made sure this time it didn’t appear that way.
This really doesn't work as well as the original scene, unfortunately. The original just hit you in the face with it as soon as you walked through the door, but this gives you too much time to become acclimatised to the fact some weird shit is happening. Really not sure why they made those changes
Imma find a nice girl who loves Silent Hill. I won’t settle for less
I don't understand why I see comments saying that this version is more "disturbing" than the original, it's just Pyramid head posing without any sense, you don't feel that disturbing/sexual aura of this scene like in the original anymore.
I guess lowering expectations is today's thing.
The original showed the full impact this version doesn't. The original showed Maria this version covers her up. That sang some really bad things about our society. That's censorship that's book burning buy small cuts
It portrayed it enough dude. Calm down
@@Crawdoodle portrayed enough? According to what? ACould you not be condescending? That's not very chill of you.
You say dude and calm down just to be negative.
you people are so fucking weird. literal states (all republican, mind you) banning books right now in the name of ‘morals’, but the you cover up a video game woman a little and now it’s book burning. you’re a jokez
I personally think this was good. It was different from the original yet still just as scary.
Overreacting pearl clutcher.
A little bit of poo came out...
God this sucks.
Look at how menacing he is, balling up his little fists. He just stands there and takes the bullets, wow what a scary badass.
The Pyramid Head I remember wasn't like this. He was a god of shame, a monster made of self hatred and frustration. He wasn't big, or strong. He DRAGGED the knife. He struggled to keep his pyramid straight. It was too big and heavy for him. The knife was too big and heavy for him. The creatures of Silent Hill 2 were broken misshapen things in pain, they were prisoners of this nightmare just like you were, and you were almost putting them out of their misery more than defending yourself from them WHICH YKNOW MIGHT HAVE SOME SYMBOLIC SIGNIFICANCE TO THE PLOT
James's nightmare was pain and shame, not these fucking necromorphs.
The intricate animations and sounds are incredible
Pyramid Head also readjusted his head in this very cutscene.
And most likely had troves of internal original Konami documents you’ll never see.
They delivered a masterful remake dude
@@Wild_Samurai people like the original commenter is why we cant have good things anymore
@@Wild_Samuraigood to see someone not throwing a tantrum over the remake.
@@Wild_Samuraidude bless you, it’s insane how blinded people are with nostalgia glasses. They complain about how they can’t see the grape scene, how Angela isn’t congenitally attractive, and Maria changing her clothes. Like the grape scene is more subtle now, Angela is an abused young adult who is uncomfortable forever now, and Maria…. SHE JS STILL SUCH A BADDIE LIKE WTF?!?!?
A horrible remake, they even changed Angela's scenario that shows her suffering even on the walls, those who defend censorship do not respect the original work
Bloober really needs to hire a better animator.
Looks like a remake for ps4
