Oh geez. When I was there a bunch of friends were going there and taking a boat at night time and eating shrimp. I passed on it. Look what I missed! Great video!
Hang on....hang on......never mind the huge river prawns...what about the huge what looks like an engagement ring on the left hand.... Who's the extremely lucky person ?????
Wow, thank you for sharing your amazing trip! I can't wait to visit Thailand. My friend goes every year and I should join her on her next trip. The food experience looks deliciously enticing.😋
believe it or not i play your cooking video as my lullaby somehow it relaxes me at the same time i get to practice every dish in my mind better as soon as i get to bangkok will buy all the spices and ingredients in the local market to get that authentic thai feel :)
Pai .... You think of everything ... I'm going to copy your Itin and just take a day trip there. My family will be there in about 1 month ... cannot wait ... We luv your videos !! keep up the great work !
I have got to learn to stop watching your videos when I'm hungry! So, no one's getting an answer to the question about the engagement ring? ;-) Enjoyed the video - LOVE prawns... Will have to visit here when we go to Thailand! xo
Few years back when I was in Ayutthaya, I did not notice that there's so many hidden gem eateries! Thanks for sharing this, definitely will travel back to Ayutthaya again =)
The little Qual eggs did it for me. Mmm them with some white rice and baked beans. You can keep them rest of the food. Maybe a river prawn could slip on to my plate too..... :)
you don't need to be rich to go to Thailand. your most expensive cost is going to be airfare. Once you are in Thailand, everything else is fairly affordable. housing, transportation, food, etc.
I enjoyed the prawns in Thailand, but they were not as large as that! I expect those are a bit more chewy than the lobster, since the smaller prawns were about the same al dente as the local smaller lobsters available in Krungthep. When I visited Ayutthaya in 1970, there was not nearly as much tourism as there is now, as it appears from your video. I expect that was also because the restoration hadn't proceeded as much as it appears to have, now. Of course, I also expect the road is much better to only take an hour, when it took longer back then :) Notwithstanding the local cuisine, the rattan from Ayutthaya was very good and the woven, very colorful, rattan bird-mobiles purchased there are excellent. When I set them up on the patio when I got back here at home, I got a lot of comments, and everyone wanted one for themselves when they would see a breeze "fly" them around. A great import item!
Hi Pai, this video is great! I see a ring on your finger. Are you engaged? Congratulations !!! Just a question. Where did you get your sunglasses? They look so good on you
Really fun little video. I was in Ayutthaya 2 summers ago while on vacation in Bangkok, but unfortunately didn't get a chance to sample any local food. It was a really good time though. Was this a really short trip? Too bad you didn't get a chance to connect with Mark Wiens again. Would have loved to seen you two on another video again.
great. I am going to get one then. Thanks for sharing. How long will be in Bangkok? Can't wait another video of food. I missed Bangkok and I am from Malaysia.
Jimin's Jams hi thanks for the reply. Yes I think one or two years ago they had a collaboration video. But on this recent trip if they are planning to do a video again :-)
userwl2850 yes, I dont know why it is so expensive. Even me as Thai, I still cant afford that except I really desperately want to eat the river prawn :D
I'm so jealous of you! Lol but if I eat that much food I will be super fat. I get fat so easily I can eat a grain of rice and a raisin and can gain 20 lbs instantly smdh!
Megan Meyer I just learned this recently. It's spelled tomalley and it's the innards of shellfish (crab, lobster, shrimp). Sounds yucky, but it's really the best part of any cooked shellfish to eat.
I have! :) (sort of) Went through Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos and then spent a few days in Bangkok - so really then I can only say I've been to Bangkok (and missed out on the rest of it) ... so must go back!
When I was there found the Thai people pushy when we were in the tourist areas. We were at one place that was historic. This one kid wanted to have him give us a tour. He wouldn't take no for an answer and kept coming back until one in our group got kinda nasty with him. There was one other time a similar thing happened. Other than those 2 times I found the Thai people very nice.

I love how you're so clear with the pronunciations of Thai dishes names.
MartinRussellHo Well, she's thai after all.
MartinRussellHo yeah she grew up in Thailand so her pronunciation is pretty much perfect :)
cancer cucumberz well, most Thais don't pronounce that clearly too.. but pai does.. so brilliant. :)
Hoa PTNK yeah... but still clearer than even most Thais. Love it. I can learn more here. :)
my mouth is literally watering just looking at those prawns....
Oh god, that memories. I went to Ayutthaya in 2014 and it was so amazing seeing all those old temples. I love it.
Brings back memories, I was at the same restaurant feeding fish 15 years ago :)
Wow..make me hungry

I just realized i've been following you since 2010! This was the first vid-" Pad Ga Prao | Holy Basil Chicken 1 ผัดกะเพราไก่ - Hot Thai Kitchen!"

Too beautiful
Rosy A. Thanks 🙏🏿😊👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Are you engaged?! I'm sorry that I'm being nosy but I just noticed your beautiful ring on your left hand. My apologies if I'm being rude in any way.
Congratulations Pai! Wishing you all the happiness in the world! ❤️
Yami 😋
Hi Pai, love your videos! What's the ribbon pin you're wearing in the video?
It's for mourning the death of the king. If you are not wearing a black shirt you can wear those pins instead.
1000 baht each is a lil pricey :D :D :D
Your cute
im going to extend my visa.... so much food
You make me miss Thailand!
more of you introducing Thailand. how about Phi Mai smoke duck?
1000 baht for a river prawn! Isn't that like $30.00 ish just for one dish?
nicholas williams Yes, it is expensive but it's well worth it.
I would totally spend $30 dollar for it! That's what a duck breast costs in an average US fine dining restaurant.
Damn, im salivating @.@
at 7.40 1000 baht each? it must be the most expensive thing to eat in Thailand.
userwl2850 yes, I dont know why it is so expensive. Even me as Thai, I still cant afford that except I really desperately want to eat the river prawn :D
they are almost like lobsters
I'm so jealous of you! Lol but if I eat that much food I will be super fat. I get fat so easily I can eat a grain of rice and a raisin and can gain 20 lbs instantly smdh!
I'd like a dozen pounds of the River Prawns
Yummmmmmmmmmmmm
BUT how polluted is that river and hence the prawns?
I thought my alarm went off
btw where can i buy your book which bookstore in siam area ? i will get one :)
I'm drooooooooling 😭
Nice, but you should get a hat to keep in the shade, and how about a video on Thai beverages
$32 for those shrimp seems high, i can get a pound of king crab
What does she mean by tamale? What is that?
Megan Meyer I just learned this recently. It's spelled tomalley and it's the innards of shellfish (crab, lobster, shrimp). Sounds yucky, but it's really the best part of any cooked shellfish to eat.
Megan Meyer Fish eggs.
It's technically their liver :)
This is like a homage to mark wiens
I shouldn't be watching this hungry
What is tamale or is it tamali?
tomalley :)
Pai, do you get sick from the ice in your drinks or are they made with filtered water?
กุ้งตัวละ 1000 บาทเหรอ
กำ แพงจังเลยยยยยยยย
Did Adam also go with you to Thailand?
lol not this time :)
Adam Hunter You should, someday. Have you ever been in Thailand?
I have! :) (sort of) Went through Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos and then spent a few days in Bangkok - so really then I can only say I've been to Bangkok (and missed out on the rest of it) ... so must go back!

10 percent of the bird population went down after this video
you remind me of MARK WEINS LOL
