As a former US fleet ballistic missile submarine sailor, the red light being on isn't necessarily a bad thing and doesn’t mean you’re at battle. The red light is used at night time when getting ready to go to periscope depth. Shortly before heading up to periscope depth, the control room and other rooms around the control room would be rigged for red for a short while to give the members of the ships control parties eyes a chance to adjust to being rigged for black since when you actually go to periscope depth the control room is rigged for black. Red light doesn’t affect one's night vision so you could easily go from red to black without needing to adjust and still be able to see perfectly. Since light from the outside can come inside the boat through the periscope… light inside can easily go out through the periscope making a huge white light on an otherwise pitch-black ocean.

Just opposite it, a few years ago, a retired TU 144, maritime reconnaissance aircraft (4 engine, twin propellers in each engine) has also been installed as an aircraft museum.

The crew is probably larger than you think. So a count of the bunk numbers is not the count of the crew most likely. Love the show guys just found the channel little bit ago.

Exploring the Unbeaten Path, context: this submarine and "his" brother were (are) involved in a correction scandel here in Portugal and in Germany, where they were built. The Portuguese Minister that authorised the transaction was Paulo Portas, then Minister of Defense, in 2002, and the money they used to buy those submarines were "diverted". In Germany people were caught, found guilty and went to prison, in Portugal well... they're all free inspite of being corrupts. And the part of "Irrevogável" (irrevocable, in english) it was a joke, because some years later, in 2013, now as a Vice-Prime Minister, he said he would leave the Government and that his decision was irrevocable. He lied. He came back.
Não são estes submarinos... Estes já são bastante antigos, e devo também salientar que os 2 que temos, que todos os portugueses fazem questão de gozar, são a única defesa marítima portuguesa ..

Thanks mate! Will translate the rest later🙂
