DRIVES ME CRAZY that when we got preg with our 2nd in 2009 we lived in a "no VBAC" state and they made us schedule a c-sec. The doc was going to be on vacation (which i do understand) so he matter-of-factly told us it's perfectly normal to schedule them at 37 weeks and lots of moms opt for c-sec because it's more convenient. I was horrified! So i told him we could do it after he returned in week 39 and when we went in I was at the very early stages of labor so I gave our kiddo an extra 2.5 weeks of gestation. This isn't the right choice for everyone and i understood the risks of VBAC if i did go into labor before surgery was scheduled, but i am still so furious that this was just normal for my generation.
First time mom here! I gave birth at 40 weeks via Csection because my placenta was near the os and it never went up. I never went into labor thankfully but I was miserable the last trimester. It’s hard to move and my line of work I kinda have to bend and move a lot 😅.
Guidance must be different in the US to the UK, I had my baby at 37 weeks perfectly happy and a healthy 6lbs 7oz and that is classed as full term here.
No, that’s exactly what she said. 37 weeks is full term in the US as well, it’s “early” full term. Most babies born at 37 weeks will have no adverse health outcomes, but statistically they are in a minority. 39-41 weeks is the most common time for a baby to be born naturally, and studies also show that these babies have the best health outcomes overall.
Except this is so rigid. Women's cycles have a range of lengths that are all normal. My menstrual cycle is 32 to 34 days, and I've had both of my babies 2 weeks early at 7lbs 1oz and 3 weeks early at 8lbs 3oz. They were fully cooked I don't care that I wasn't 40 weeks.
First of all, longer cycle only means that possibly you ovulated a few days later, so if anything your babies were a few days less in the womb, it doesn’t impact the speed at which the baby is developing. Second, if yours were ok, doesn’t mean that others will be. Third, you gave birth at 37 weeks which is early term, very different from 33 weeks which is pre term. We only want what’s best for our babies.

You should also be furious that routine c-sec was/is normal 😢
To each their own but actively choosing a premature birth because being pregnant is uncomfortable just seems insane to me
I wish i could have made it to 33 weeks. I delivered via c section at 25+1 scariest time of my life
How are you and your baby?
@mrsb0215 we are okay. Thanks for asking! It means a lot
@@rieleychante I’m glad. ❤️ You’re welcome ☺️
Why? What happened?
i’m 39+6 just so ready to have her! i’m as big as a house 😅
The lungs are the very last to develop. Look it up. Wait for best benefits for the baby. Get some rest. Long nights ahead. Congrats ❤

38 weeks 5 days 8lb 2oz baby. He came on his own and had pneumonia when he was born.
This is wild to me. Don't get me wrong, I do not at all enjoy being pregnant, but I want my baby to cook in there as long as they need to!
I am 31 weeks pregnant and miserable, but also hope my baby comes late 😂
I gave birth at 38 weeks and 1 day
