As a Melbournian, I am ashamed. Two pop stars who performed in the same arena (completely different place to this) fell through the stage floor (exactly the same place of the stage) a couple of months ago on their respective tours. They need to fix our f**king venues! I've never been taxed more in my life, yet out city is falling apart. My sincere condolences to the music world - you really roll a dice when it comes to performing here.
Love the band...but the joke wrote itself and I knew I couldn't be the first one to it in the comments. It's still tragic that people got hurt though and hope they're ok
I'm honestly not surprised it happened at Festival Hall. Locals call it 'Festy Hall' for a reason. It's basically the only remaining venue of that size in the city due to property development over the last 10-20 years. It's known for being old, not well maintained and having pretty average acoustics. Previous ownership didn't maintain it well at all. I've seen so many amazing shows there though, so it has a place in my heart.
@92SynysterShadows I wouldn't go that far. It's a great heritage listed building with lots of music, sports and industrial history. It's just a victim of the changing economy and disrepair by its previous owner. New ownership (Hillsong Church) will hopefully invest in better maintenance, however that's not so simple with its heritage listing. Edit: I particularly like the art deco era bathrooms. You see similar sort of bathrooms in the sub floor tunnel at Flinders St. Station.
Festival Hall is over a hundred years old, and it's also heritage listed, I remember going to see Sherbet there in the 1970's, and that ceiling was not in place back then, the venue also got used for Wrestling and union meetings too. The white ceiling that we see now is relatively a recent addition, it's not original.
Thanks for sharing with the world, mate. Definitely not a Bad Omens issue, and the venue themselves need to take more accountability for what happened, and repairs. Still waiting to hear back from one of the girls who the panel fell directly on. Keep up the amazing work RF 🤘🤘
As someone who has been to a lot of shows at festival hall, I can't say this surprises me. That venue has needed serious repair work for more than a decade. Hopefully this forces the owners hand and makes them finally fix it up. The building is well over 100 years old. Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt.
Rock feed has undeniably become the most reliable alternative music news source in the last few years and I’m all here for it. Thank you for all you guys do. Shout out to everyone on the team that may or may not be noticed, but as always, a huge shout out to Brian. You’re all awesome
Rock Feed does it again! We’ve been following you for so long and always count on you for the latest. This is such an unfortunate situation. Prayers to those injured.
I was there when this happened. When I walked into the building there was already a bunch of these panels missing from the ceiling. It's an absolute shithole. Could feel the floor bending under everyone's weight too. I hope everyone is OK. Scary shit to have happen at a show
the seating arrangements were appalling too, its so bad that the bands fans had such a horrible experience at this venue. its not the bands fault what so ever.
one of my favorite songs by Bad Omens, bet it was amazing live. I saw them supporting BMTH last year in the UK (felt more like a coheadline honestly!) wow it was good!
I’ve been to so many shows with confetti cannons, conferring falling from the ceiling, fire and air that shoots up from the stage (not sure what that’s called) and in all my life I’ve never seen something like this! How scary and I’m so glad no one was severely injured and that the injured fans were able to come back for the second night!
it was so scary i was there in the stands and saw everything. none of the security paved way for the injured they just dragged them out to the right off the stage entrance/exit a couple of rows away where we sat, that poor girl, and the venue was poorly maintained. i feel so sorry for the band, like they would want their fans to have the best experience possible enjoying their music
the staff however were great and supportive, they had quite a lot of patience and kindness towards the customers, fans and the band. i hope i will get a chance to see bad omens live again in australia in the future and wish they have better experiences a some of our other venues
the part that made it worse was also there was already missing roof panels too,it definitely needs to be repaired, the place has been in disrepair for years but they havent done anything about it
1:10 there’s a small club here in southern sweden where i went to see Steve Lukather on his solo tour, at that place there’s two big subs suspended in the ceiling pointing downwards at the crowd and it’s not a very high ceiling either. Felt slightly nervous standing under one of them but i guess they were secure lol
I went to a show at a small venue in California that appeared to be a mechanic’s garage converted into a concert venue and they also had big speakers suspended by chains above the crowd. A little sketchy but it looked cool and they didn’t fall.
My friends and I were saying before the show started that the ceiling looked dodgy and wouldn't be surprised if something fell down. We assumed this would've been thought of thought of and measures would've been taken to prevent it. Had no idea it had happed until the next morning....so glad everyone's okay!
That’s horrifying :( that’s actually a fear I’ve always had that a ceiling rail or light would fall on me (I know it’s incredibly unlikely and unreasonable). Hope everyone is okay
As someone who has been to Festival Hall in Melbourne seeing NOFX awhile back, I can confirm those panels look not up to date, hope everyone who attended Bad Omens are ok and recovering
I haven’t heard any bad omens songs except for one with poppy although I didn’t hear him sing it’s a good band! Hope everyone was ok! Stuff like this happens unfortunately and I am glad! That front man singers actually care for the safety of their fans it could have been worse! And they want to make sure everyone gets home safe!
@AsherOvSacrifice saying " its possible" as if it didnt just happen, but could, is craaazy work. You can see a tile fall down per every cannon, right after the confetti reached the pannels. Its literally on video. We get it you love bad omens, but dont be a fkn shill to safety and making sure your equiptment doesnt interfeer with anything structual. Bad omens?more like bad safety check overs. Who tf looked at that 20 ft high ceiling with only pannels, and aproved multiple confetti cannons. That guy needs to be handed the invoices for hospital bills.

At a show in Lubbock Tx I looked up to see sticky nasty spit hanging from the ceiling. A collection from all the bands spitting upwards. I felt like I was dodging bombs all night

been to 50+ shows in my life. I recieved beers, picks, boots, kicks, cans .... but never ceiling. This just says how mutch everything is about money lately and it just poisons everything the poeple like .... sad that this venue doesnt inspect their shit better than that ... :(
I was at the show and honestly it wasn’t that bad 😂 but yeah no surprise it happened at FH. Last time I was there I stomped through the floor and my foot got stuck.
I hold a degree in health safety and security. My experience have been primarily manufacturing but im dying to get into event safety, security and emergency planning anyone have direct advice on how? I am in the midwest
Hit up some event management companies and have a chat about the specs they adhere to. Might be a niche field! Literally just ask to meet and/or have a coffee with an owner.
I wonder if it was the air pressure from when the confetti canons went off? That amount of air pressure being pushed upwards may have been enough to dislodge the titles. Those tiles can be pushed upwards quite easily with one hand. Maybe the special effects team had a little too much pressure on those canons. Hope everyone that got hurt makes a speedy recovery. Scary stuff...
Why do bands keep picking crappy venues. I love bad omens but this should be looked into and checked way before the show! And the cannons didn’t go off ever before this?
The cannons went off towards the end of the show- that’s the only time they did for this concert. And it’s not Bad Omens that select the venue it would be their managers etc
The caps were still left on the confetti canons, that is what hit the panels with compressed air so a pretty big hit, it wasn't the venues fault (just the operator).

You need to look at the video. The problem wasn't the pyro. The ceilings weren't taken cared of properly and that doesn't fall on them for the cause of the situation.
Definitely on the venue, not the pyro guys. Festival Hall is notorious for being poorly maintained and a bit of a shithole. Honestly, it was just a matter of time until something like this happened.
Wish you would’ve showed the actual clip where Noah addressed the issue the next night. It was in a somewhat joking manner. It was a bit tone deaf and insensitive to say the least. The crowd was laughing and yes he did say he was serious, but he was laughing along too, and it was way too light hearted for how serious it was and how bad it could’ve been. Him not seeing the tiles fall is no excuse for not handling damage control more appropriately in the aftermath. I’m sure he truly cares if there were injuries, but yikes, the optics were bad in his so-called moment of silence. Then, he ducked down during the part of Just Pretend where the tiles had fallen the previous night. Not a great look, and I encourage anyone who cares to view the footage themselves. He could’ve handled this with A LOT more reverence. If I was one of the injured fans, I’d be really pissed off at how they’ve treated this as no big deal.
A penny at terminal velocity may hurt but it isn't deadly or anything serious. It would be like getting punched by a penny which has such small mass it would slow down pretty quickly unlike a fist.
