The timing of this video is impeccable, as I'm retiring some items and rebuilding my corporate wardrobe!
I'm 100% with you on upstaging one's superiors. Fortunately or unfortunately, perception is EVERYTHING in corporate. People will short-change you just because you're seen to "not need the money", just based off of how you dress for the office.
I've never been a capsule wardrobe girl. I'd literally buy anything and everything I liked, regardless of color or whether or not I could mix and match it with other items in my wardrobe. I was always the "I'll find a way to make it work" kinda girl, and I would.
But that meant that my wardrobe would be overloaded with items I hardly wear, causing me to spend more regularly than I otherwise would have, if I were to shop for classic staples that are versatile and easy to mix and match. Needless to say, I'm getting better at it now.
Capsule wardrobe under construction 🏗👷🏾♀️ Your tips and tricks will definitely come in handy.

Love this! Totally agree. I will say as you level up, your wardrobe can, too. I worked in finance, too. The clothing is def understated and iykyk, but the higher the ladder the more designer you’d see. I remember a MD was the first I saw wearing Loubis. That was like 20 years ago, but you saw the red bottom. She kept three colors in the office and interchanged them. They also were a mid heel never very high. She carried designer bags. But that was the most. The rest of the wardrobe was just well tailored quality fabric suits and sheath dresses and like you said that’s where I learned rotating wardrobe. I came in thinking I needed this huge wardrobe. One of the associates pulled me to the side and schooled me, so appreciated it. You’re making me miss working in corporate 😭. Lol Sharing this w/my daughter.
