How Hair Lightens (How Haircolor/ Bleach Works)

I can think of some of my favorite phrases that have three words; I love you… eat this bacon… have some money. However, there is one three word phrase that makes my skin crawl (and every other hairstylist in the world) and that is “I PULL WARM”. Whether you have spoken these words yourself, or have heard them from behind your chair, you know exactly what I am talking about.
Thank you for taking the time to study up on this under explained subject! Today I am going to share exactly WHY we “pull warm”. We will uncover what hair pigment actually is, and how that pigment is lightened (Does it disappear? Does it come right out of the strand?) Furthermore, I will touch on why color or highlights can look fabulous at first and then slowly go “brassy” over time. (hint...it's not always your water.)
This is a video form of a blog I wrote back in May that seemed to be quite helpful for both the professional hairstylist and the client. My goal for you after watching this is that you will have a deeper understanding of what we as hairstylists are capable of doing, and the restrictions that we have. I anticipate that this will encourage you to set realistic goals when it comes to your hair, and to be patient along the way!
Every single person is different and may not react to color in the same way. Some may be very lucky, while others have a harder time. I am here to share all that goes in to the science of how hair lightens and why it is so important to know its limitations!
