In this episode, Brendan headed into Algonquin for a day trip with his brother and nephew in search of some quality Brook Trout fishing from the shores of a favourite lake in the park. After a morning of fishing from shore, he managed to catch A LOT of brookies and lose a large amount of fish too.

Tight lines,
TAJFS
That big trout jumping was so cool! Too bad he broke the line. You should pay him a visit again for round 2!
It was a tank! Wish I would’ve got him, I think I overplayed it for sure!
Not sure how tough the lake is to get into but a 1 peice rod is a game changer
There is some nice 1 piece rods making appearances for both of us this year!
Your video's motivated me to get out to a small Brookie Lake outside of Algonquin park last weekend, got a few small ones, had a great time. Really enjoy your videos. Taking a trip to the park interior in a couple weeks. Hoping to do well with what I learned from you experts. Thanks. Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words buddy! Glad you found some success out there this past weekend! I hope you kept a few for a snack, probably good eating size! You’ll have fun in the interior, just work harder than the Average Joe to get to a further spot and you’ll find fish! Stay determined and enjoy learning as you go! Also, LETS FCKN GO LEAFS!! Game 3 Tonight and they’re gonna win!
Grampa Don say excellent👍
Thanks Grandpa Don! Appreciate it sir!
great footage, looks like you had an amazing day. Nice
Thanks Rob! Was an awesome day! Only 3 more days until we’re back in the park for this season!
Good video like how u don't cut out the fish u lost.. those fish can be a handful to land I love algonguin park
Thanks Derek! Thats all part of the adventure, catch and losing fish are all real haha
Nice job
Thanks Dave!
Awesome video! Hello from Flower Station in Lanark!
Thanks Tom! Nice to hear from you
Good job man nice fishing 🎣
Nice catches, do you use live bait? and do you know where to get it from near Algonquin Dwight area?
In Algonquin no LIVE bait, it must be dead. I’ve only fished out in that area once and I grabbed my bait in Huntsville. Now you’ll have to be careful there because you’re likely going to cross BMZs and need to buy bait from the same BMZ as you are fishing
Slaughter day
It was a successful one for sure!
I thought the trout was closed in the lark until Saterday????
It is, this video was from last season! We hold onto video to put them out at the time when they’ll get the most views
@@TheAverageJoesFishingShowwhat day is trout open...for 2024 year... can I drive in and pull off the highway and walk and fish creeks for specks.. first time ever going through the park..once I get a answer from.you..
Great video
Trout opens this Saturday the 27th. You can definitely try that! Further from the highway the better but there’s always a chance!
Can you use baitfish in Algonquin Park?
Nope
Is there some exceptions in Algonquin? I thought brooks don't open till the forth Sat in May?
Trout fishing in the park opens 4th Saturday in April. This is a holdover video from last spring 😁
I'll be thete Saterday Sunday, but can't say where lol😂😂
Good, keep it quiet 🤫 If you’ve got a good spot, don’t blow it up, or you’ll see it turn into a not good spot really fast lol I also have an extremely busy park schedule this spring!
@@TheAverageJoesFishingShow Sorry, yes I meant April,lol.
Are you fishing two rods at the same time?
Trout open ?
In 3 days!
Thought we weren’t allowed baitfish in the park? Alive or frozen
No sir, the use of baitfish is totally okay as long as dead. Certain lakes, a small percentage, have a no organic bait rule, which means no dead minnows or worms. But everywhere else, dead minnows are permitted
But make sure if you use minnows deaf or alive they are local
Dead
Always local with us, I live 10kms from the park line and I trap them from local creeks 👍🏻
@@TheAverageJoesFishingShow oh guess I ran into an uninformed warden and paid the ticket for nothing, I was fined 3,000$ in 2023 for using baitfish in park boundary, they had been microwaved and frozen solid and were local.
April 24 2024... brook trout open?
May 10th 2023 actually… posted at prime time for views 👍🏻
To bad Ypu dont fly fish ???
No sir, never have been a fly fisherman. It doesn’t interest me at all.
I hear that mate it takes skill to work that line with trees behind you 👍 but I enjoy my fly fishing kit mate 😉👍
Never fish from shore as its a waste of time .Heck of a lake you must be on.
