I actually love these, teaching kids to think practically about things that seem awful at first but aren't that bad once you think rationally. Even nowadays a lot of adults would just attempt to break a window or something.

This has a strong reference to the children's storybook called "Mr. Forgetful Learns a Lesson." I still learned that responsibility is everything. This cartoon snippet may have been an early 1980s release.

I remember calling and calling and calling from a grocery store when my bike got disabled because my mother happened to go out to do one errand, then went out to do another errand. She said just as she was wondering why I hadn't come home yet, the phone rang. Took, like, 2 hours of running in and out of the store to use the payphone, with a couple of older girls making fun of me doing so. Sheesh!

Willie survive reminds of British animation from the same era.

Willie was fun and I see you, also, have the Fisk Jubilee Singers in your circle.

We Gen-X members got pretty used to our Boomer parents going about their lives and leaving us to fend for ourselves.

I would’ve called the police for looking in windows like that. 0:21

He went to that guys house that runs the bike shop on Different Strokes. We all remember what that guy was about.

Hard to imagine this happening in the age of cell phones, isn't it?

Happened to me all the time as a kid even after i had a cell phone. Calling someone doesn't necessarily mean they pick up or will be home right away

These days, you must have your keys with you when you go out, and being locked out is actually a blessing in disguise.
