I'm not going to say this again. Put a CR 250 barrel and carbie on your MT. You will blow any damned 4 stroke into the weeds ! In addition you can swap out the swing arm for one on which you can forward mount the rear shocks, for double the travel and far better handling. Then you will have a 50 year old bike that will make people weep as you blast past them in the dirt. Do it !!!! Please. It's a bolt on mod that will amaze you with the difference in POWER..... !
A lot of these comparison videos you find on YT are boring. So I started your vid with no big expectations. But you did really good. I should have known that. 😁
Nice bikes, nice riding. My first bike was an old 160 Honda. Although it was a street bike, I took it on the trails and on the ice in the winter. That old bike just wouldn't die. Thanks for the vid!
I love the KLX 300 even though I never had one. The looks, the reliabilty, the overall quality has to be fantastic. But the power output? Man I'm sorry thats just not enough, wish it had around 35hp.
You can't beat the smell of 2 Stoke in the morning 😍😂😎 Enjoyed the vid, cheers And I get what you mean about the attention an older bike gets, In the spring I bought a 62 triumph tiger cub trials and it gets so much attention 😁 I parked it beside a bran new triumph tiger adv, she looked soooo small 😂😂😂😎
Maybe in 40 years there'll be a guy who kept a KLX300 and he'll be comparing it to whatever there'll be at the time. Of course both are awesome bikes, to me you said it right. I keep a DT175 with me.
I bet 100 to one the Elsinore seat is much more comfortable . You could sit on them all day, a real seat. Modern bikes makers seem to think something is wrong with a well padded seat.
Bravo! well said! GG. I have a suggestion. another vintage bikke restoration and mod the rear swing arm to improve the ride....by the way do both bikes possess the same final ratios? could be a factor.
My old Suzuki K50 with an 86cc cylinder has the same power and top speed. With some tuning/mods that 250 should easily make +30hp without going to crazy. And try to run them both at 1000rpm up a steep hill and you'll probably find that the 2 strokes has much better low end torque and will refuse to stall compared to the 4 stroke. Might need a reed valve though, don't know if the piston port will ruin it as I've never ridden a bike with that. The reason people think 4 strokes have better low end is because their flat power curve compare to 2 strokes. But look at trials and enduro which is dominated by 2 strokes, they may not take off very fast in the lows but they will chug along and pull like a diesel. My trials bike can chug along uphill in 5th gear at like 700rpm.
Nothing's like a vintage bike that draws attention!.. It has been turned into a very good looking bike!!. Happy for you, great job GG!!
You're absolutely right, there truly is nothing else like it. Thank you!!

Love the older bikes. I have a 74 TS250 that im going to TRY to fix up. Not restore, but maybe something like a scrambler look.
Love your content man.
You can do it!!

Thank you! They don't build em like they used to
This is good question. Will watch this all the way.

I totally agree. Maybe it will get a big bore kit someday..

I'm curious about the actual weight.
not a huge 4 stroke fan, but gotta admit that 'saki sounds good
Thank you! The delkevic exhaust made it sound soooo much better.
A good analogy.. Comparing grandpa to a son.. :)

Wow that's impressive. You're getting a lot of power out of that 86cc 2 Stroke, well done!
2 strokes got all the power bb!!!
You know it meng!
See if you can get your hands on 2001 CR250 it will absolutely blow the doors off your 300 it won't even be close
