  • If you're tired of the scraps from your bandsaw falling off the back side of the table and creating a mess, make a bandsaw cutoff tray. This is easy, inexpensive, and saves a whole lot of time and energy cleaning.

    I love that you made this out of cheap ass hard board and zero clamps, instead of how the typical YT Woodworking influencer would have done, with "some leftover African Bubinga from a previous project", and 15 Pony Jergensen parallel clamps.

    Yep! Like someone else said - "Why didn't I think of that"!!! I do lots of small work and this catch box is perfect. Thanks.
    UPDATE: I made this box and added a thin strip above the magnets. When I push the cutoffs, the sawdust drops into the box also. I use the box on my Scroll Saw table too. Thanks again!!!!

    I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who uses the table saw as a squaring jig! Finances limit me to a bench top bandsaw, and I keep a cheap plastic container on the table behind the saw to capture the swarf. Your project looks great and effective! It’d be great, though problematic to workout, if you could mount it slightly UNDER the rear of the table to get all the sawdust also. The downside is the bottom of the table, which typically look like a trailer park after a tornado! Thanks for another great video!

    My bandsaw is a little sawmill horse, resawing slabs and logs up to 11" thick into nice 8" boards (manageable by 8" jointer). I guess my tray would be 8'-10' long to hold the bark excess...

    The best upgrade I can make to my bandsaw is to make it run again. lol...
    (previous owners' kid was cutting a piece of wood with it and the "stick" of wood ended up binding with the blade and went down into the underside of the table, which I believe caused the drive pulley to get bumped out of alignment)

    Nice video...learned some new things. I just wish I had a band saw.
    Actually... could you do a video on how to maintain a band saw? It's one tool that really intimidates me on purchasing because it seems so complex. I'll check your videos, maybe you already did one.

    • @markb8954
      @markb8954 Рік тому

      There’s nothing difficult at all. A continuous blade sits on two wheels that are powered by a motor. Tension is used 2:57 to keep the blade on the wheels as well as blade guides. Very easy to figure out & use. Bandsaw blade “alignment ” is often discussed. Just keep your fingers away from the blade.

    • @InspireWoodcraft

      @Tom Owens The little metal areas? It’s where the anti-kickback pawls rest if you’re using a blade guard that has them.
