Langrisser M Review - History and Gameplay Analysis for Langrisser Mobile

Initially when I thought about Langrisser and comparing it to Fire Emblem Heroes, who is minimalist by design (and not a bad thing either) I feel that it wasn't a fair comparison and was a bit overdone. Langrisser is Langrisser, Fire Emblem is Fire Emblem so today I'll be talking about some of the features that Langrisser M has that makes it interesting and not just a clone of Fire Emblem Heroes or just Fire Emblem in general, with details of it's rich history and it's own unique gameplay mechanics.

i can tell this game is very good when i feel the gameplay is more fire emblem than fire emblem heroes itself..i mean, damn some quests got surprise elements which i didnt expect it to be that challenging
My idea of talking about the game in it's strongest (the gameplay perspective) over the uhhh, character's "ASSets"
Another fun thing that I found from my research that I kinda failed to talk about because I am fail is that Langrisser 2 has different story paths you can go. Elwin can literally turn against the light to join Chaos or he can be buddy buddy with Heart Burn and even start his own Kingdom
There's even one where he literally goes dying alone it's pretty impressive how deep the story went when I looked at the lore, I must do a gameplay of that thing at SOME point in the future
FEH would have been able to compete had they stop pandering to waifus it's almost as if there trying to compete with FGO
FEH needs to do a lot of work if they either want to compete with their mechanics or with their waifus. I'm sorry, but FE doesn't have nearly as fanservicy/attractive art/waifus as the Fate series in general, not to mention that it kinda built itself around that while FE was more for hardcore gamers. Now, FEH is such a mess...
In Langrisser 2 you can... 1- Join Cherie and the alliance on the light path and defeat the evil empire + the demons. 2- Join Leon and Bernhardt in the empire and unite the world under military power. 3- Join Bozel and rule the world with demons. 4- Take it out on the frickin Goddess for creating such powerful swords and leaving them in the hands of humans in the independant path.
True. But most players wont see that within the first week. Kinda need to hit rank 24 or 26 I think. It is pretty cool. Reminds me of the multiple endings in Chrono Trigger. Speaking of which, will you bother giving Another Eden a go? It plays like a lovechild of the chrono series. Gacha just gives you access to better healers so dont need to grind as much. It really plays like a proper game with no stamina restriction.
@@diznutz5369 well, I agree. Though I think that was the intent of FEH to begin with. Something casual that can be done in 30 mins or lesser :v. I'm so sick of summoning alts that I made new accs just to merge up those alts as I feel whaling for them does not have as much meaning with the number of units being churned out =3=. But then again, cause of this nature, I could get my 2 of my f2p alts sides my main to hover round t20.5 for arena. Will just play Langrisser to fill up the gap for srpg coop and better investment in units :D
I like more Langrisser that a i like Feh, i can do a lot of thing in Langrisser, and they dont think a new unit is new content
And to add to Berk's strategy with Freya/Healer: Anna also has Regenerate and she can give a random extra buff to her.
What sells Langrisser M over FEH for me is the fact that there's no alts in Langrisser.
If i want Lana with a different look, i'll just throw some bucks and buy her skin, without having to worry about pulling on banners or powercreep.
Gameplay wise, FEH feels like a wasted potential compared to Langrisser M.
As for the console games, both are good on their own, i don't think is fair to say that one is a rip off from the other. I've seen people calling Elwin a ''Roy clone'', when the former literally came first.
Yeah, I don't see unit power creep as a thing in the future. I only see new skills or possibly new weapons to be a thing of power creep.

The main difference with FE and Langrisser was in how they played (Story was way bigger than FE at the time too). In FE you can have your favorite units geared then plop them in the middle of the map and watch the chaos that ensues. Langrisser took the more defensive approach where you have to slowly work your way towards the enemy commander using soldiers under your disposal, this can take excruciatingly slow but the game knows that so its not shy on events in a scenario. I like both games. Such a shame Langrisser continues to live under FE's shadow, awful release PR for the mobage didn't help too.
Depends on which fe game you play. Fe7? Yeah, just oonga boonga the map and muder everything. Fe6? Bait the enemy towards you and ambush with accurate units. Fe11? Warp your best unit and marth to the gate. Fe9? Put a mage in the middle of the map and wait a few years. Fe4? Well, its basically just langrisser with more horses and dragons. Fe13? Train robin and watch the fireworks.
It also gives you HEART BURN. Be aware!

I’ve been loving this game so far (your content on it too, i even added you and was happy to see you accepted even though my server is another one)
i’ve been quite lucky so far and have pulled three ssr’s, two of them being liana and cherie (so i now have her at 4 star), and there’s this thing i like to do with them that i call DOUBLE GALEFORCE LIGHTONINGU, which allows cherie to move three times and cast apocaliptic damage with her Atk skill. It’s fun. Keep up the nice content ^-^
It's probably one of the better mobile titles out there. It definitely has way more content than I ever would have expected. I can't play it though: There's actually way too much crap to do every day in the game. I can't possibly keep up. So I'm bailing in advance. There are way too many daily "chores".

I'm really glad to see langrisser having a mobile game, as someone who fell in love with it after trying der langrisser in 2012, it blew me away. Seeing it have such a strong mobile game is so nice, and since feh in my opinion flat out sucks now, I enjoy langrisser. My main gripe is the rates do kinda suck, its not a super problem especially cause the pool is small, but I'm sure a bunch of people from feh will probably see them and immediately drop it cause they can't pull all the ssrs in just a few summons, when the rares and srs are much more useful than 3 and 4 stars in heroes. Imo i see this for every single mobile game. The rates will always be low. Whats important are that Rs and SRs are good enough you dont actually need SSRs. Their loss if they drop the game for such a silly reason.
Honestly I've been finding a good handful of mobile games from Chinese companies have been going really well with incorporating things to them that actually make them feel more like a game than just something mindless. It also helps that most of these companies are pretty in touch with their communities in balancing the game.
The reason i play this game. My 1gb ram Android phone can run it without crashing and it feels like Valkyrie Connect in terms of progress. I love the sweep mechanic it doesn't waste my time.
Elthlead Senshi? That was a PC98 port which is literally the same game as Elthlead on PC88 just with updated graphic and resoution (haven't tried the PC88 version yet).
There's also Guyframe which is also Langrisser related game, from what i know the PC Engine version gameplay is similiar to Elthlead but with robots.
You did a far better job at explaining the series than the 6 minute Langrisser Mobile advert over on DYKG.
I remember nearly quit this game due to the sheer difficulty of this game , but I press on and learned how to grind hard , Leon's potential and YOLO'd by Altemueller.

Actually do believe the point of strategy greater than money in this game. I recently had my first real-time PvP match and had my main strategy fumble immediately since the person I was off against had much more developed units. For the record they were intermediate classes so they had more developed gear and star count. However, after the first couple rounds. I noticed he was on auto battle. I ended up taking the win after a little AI fiddling to wear down the threats. After I saw the fire, I ended up stalling with my remaining units to force him to die in the fire. I rolled second so my units didn't die first although I controlled the center of the map at some point. I felt more accomplished in that fight than anything feh gave me because I had to really think my turns out. I couldn't just brute force the win like you can in feh. Units have a hard time taking on the planet since it is very commiting and can fall apart if the anchor falls. It really does feel like you have to look at things from a team perspective and how it's going to execute.

Ya forgotten to address even if it’s not that bad in gameplay wise and mechanics the limitations of the friends you can have you only have about 60 in slot would be nice a larger roster of it be implemented another thing is the skin system aren’t free to play friendly it’s in times if you really want it you to spend actual money for it there’s no way to grind out the tickets to get the skin for free
They will add more "classes" to units already present on this game? lets say you have already invested on Marth but instead of buying a stupid alt you could just buy the new class for him.

i love the game but one thing is worrying me that is the lack of different maps u play the same maps over and over again
well it makes sense if you read through the story, since we literally repeating the history, the maps in time rift sometimes similar with the world maps.
I think it's a fair game to compare Fire Emblem and Langrisser. Both are grid based SRPG on mobile platform which makes them a direct competitor in the same genre.
Fire Emblem will always look worse than this game due to its rather shallow customization and massive pandering to the waifu culture. The power creep is also uncontrollable whereas in Langrisser even the starting heroes are still top tier mostly.
This game is literally the Fire Emblem Heroes killer. Its only weakness is that it is fairly unknown (heck I played a lot of SRPG on PSX/PS2/PS3/PSP and I barely know Langrisser, I know Growlanser though).
Poringzan on the topic of langrisser looking worse because of lack of customizarion, what can you customize in langrisser that you cant in heroes? the heroes in langrisser get skins where in heroes get alts, if youre talking about the class change then thats a mechanic that fire emblem doesnt have so thats another discussion.
in heroes theres accessories too.
class change could benefit heroes immensively, imagine, instead of trying to appease fans of a character with alts, they pumped out class changes for then with new art and better stats like they do weapon refines.
langrisser is nowhere near a fire emblem killer based on recognition alone, also, i didnt even want to play the game because it looks VERY generic (except for character art), it looks like those rip off games you can find when you search hard enough on the app store.
just to be clear, i am playing the game too, im not saying its bad, just saying it wont kill fire emblem anytime soon.
+Thoribbin Uh Langrisser is better in terms of customization. For example the troop system allows you to beat the advantage/disadvantage. But in Feh red unit will always be weaker compared to blue. This is just one example out of many.
If you say this and class change is just a different mechanic, that is true but I am comparing both games on their merit.
The heroes you get in Feh feels Low Effort in the case that 4 gets released per banner and they have some sort of gimmick. But they ended up feels kinda samey since you will want strong skills like distant counter. Feh lineup was more interesting before skill inheritance hits.
@@poringzan2202 It's funny how people are still unable to admit that Heroes objectively seen is a bad game. As a long time FE veteran I can say, that Langrisser M right now is the best FE mobile experience you can have.
@@soulmate5589 im leaving my waifus from FEH to this game, fuck waifus i want leon's abs now, also the game is better than FEH, the maps are bigger, more strategy, and there are no powercreeps even in CN version, you can also farm SSR shards if you're f2p and they give out lot of summoning vouchers for easier gacha. Factions are awesome.
I wish it was more known. I love the Fire Emblem franchise but this game has everything that FEH doesn't. FEH is literally mocking the Fire Emblem franchise and it kinda upsets me. I hope this game grows and become more successful than Fire Emblem
Nice review. Just wish they remove equipment summon though =3=. That thing is pretty useless since Goddess trial will give better rewards in the future. It's a horrible noob trap.
Its better than its forced on you being merged with units like in Epic 7. Pretty much every ignores the equip summon.

Sadly the Chinese client actually did allow pc play. I wonder why they didn't bring that over. You could try an emulator
you could just play it via Nox emulator on your pc. It's compatible with it

That is sadly Timeline C Jessica. Langrisser M follows Timeline B which is the path where Elwin chosen the Light Path ending.
