To quote Inigo Montoya in "The Princess Bride", “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” Even in the first film, there's a child that barely escaped his murder before being left orphaned with neglectful family, another child nearly killed by a giant troll, a teacher annihilated in the bowels of the school, and the ongoing threat of more to come; not particularly whimsical. How does 'whimsy' play into a story that you yourselves are left complaining how Hogwarts is a death trap? (Just chiding you. 😄) But it does get darker and more serious. There will be tears between laughter.
@@chris...9497 according to Merriam-Webster, “whimsy” means “the quality of being whimsical or fanciful”- and “fanciful” is “marked by fancy or unrestrained imagination rather than by reason and experience”. One example given is “a fanciful tale of a monster in the woods”. Nowhere is it required for the imaginative events to be solely positive. A tale filled with magic, adventures, trials, and tribulations can certainly be described as “fanciful”, and therefore “whimsical”. A story with only positive events would certainly be *more* whimsical because it’s less grounded in reality, but their usage of the term here is perfectly fine. 😊 (No shade meant, by the way. Just speaking as someone who’s a big fan of the franchise and this channel!)
So, I'm not only a twilight nerd, I'm a potter nerd. You guys are gonna get so sick of me, if you haven't already. Lol. No spoilers, of course. I never thought the ending of this one was explained properly in the movie. When Voldemort hunted down him and his parents, Lily died trying to protect Harry. Her sacrifice imbued Harry with a powerful magical protection, which is what caused Voldemort's curse to fail and rebound in the first place. But since Lily loved Harry enough to die for him, that's why Dumbledore tells him it was love that saved him. ❤ You guys made a few offhand little jokes that I hope you remember as you watch the rest of the movies. Making your own foreshadowing? Impressive! 😂
So, this is the Harry Potter's Christmas yearly marathon I didn't knew I needed. Can you please just drop all of them now so I can binge watch please? LOL
As someone who has been binging Harry Potter reactions recently, ya'll's reaction was very enjoyable, and I am shocked you do not have more subscribers.
I don't think over 2k subscribers in just 2-3 months is that bad. Their channel is relatively young and they only have a handful of videos. I expect they'll do well though, I just got their Hunger Games video recommended in my feed and I never even heard of them, which means they've got the algorithm's attention, and they're reacting to the right very popular series to draw in views and subscribers. I watch tons of Hunger Games (and HP) reactions so that's probably why it got recommended to me.
I know. I just found these guys, and not only was I surprised at their numbers, I’m now bummed that there isn’t a huge backlog for me to binge. I don’t want to wait with the peasants for content!!! 😂
56:39 no wonder you got chills. This was actually the first scene they shot, and it moved the director Chris Columbus to tears because he realized that they had cast the perfect actor for the role of Harry
@@kathleenclark815 At least it was among the first scenes. You see how young he looks between that scene and the next movie. He also was a bit red eyed, because they had tried to make Dan wear green contact lenses, but turned out he was allergic and couldn't have them. Emma Watson also wore lose big front teeth in the beginning, but they impared her talk, so they also had to go. 🙃
@flugsven that literally has nothing to do with my answer. And..Yea..I already knew all the other stuff. I've watched everything about the movies..and read all the books 7 times
As soon as they said that Gryfindor winning all the time was sorta annoying, I started laughing, knowing yals reaction to the final points scene would be golden. Was not disappointed.
Harry is 11 in this film, every year he is one year older. So the second movie he is 12 and so on. Therefore, the journey gets darker with each film. I am so excited for you to react to these, already can't wait for the next!
Harry’s father came from a very wealthy family they created multiple potions some are shown in the movies. So when his father died Harry was the last Potter he got all the money.
A slight correction on 25:42 I know they explained it later on in the movie during the game, but most people still miss it or forget it. Catching the snitch does not mean automatic win. It grants you 150 points and immediately stops the game. If you were at 100 vs. 240 and you caught the snitch, your team would win 250 vs. 240. However, if you were 100 vs. 260 and you caught it, you would lose 250 vs. 260.
It means the Seeker has to be aware not just of where the snitch is, but where the other team's Seeker is and what the current score is and whether another score against your team will come before you catch the snitch. Strategy may include NOT catching the snitch but guarding it against the opposing Seeker until catching it also grants your team a win.
Which would be a fun mechanic IF 150 wasn't a ton of points rendering the rest of the game meaningless unless it's already been going for days and everyone on one team sucks except the seeker It's a horribly designed game purposely made so that Harry can be the main character in it
@@whade62000 Quidditch is a game invented by someone baffled by the game rules of most sports. It perfectly demonstrates the seeming randomness of sports rules. As someone who has been exposed to team sports for over a half century and barely grasps the rules of even simple sports like hockey and baseball, I understand this. I'm reminded of the gambling card game of Fizzbin from the original Star Trek series (google it). It makes sense that there would be a team competitive sport unique to the Wizarding World, that it would be a feature of magic school life, and that it would also be a professional sport. It would need to embrace something unique to the Wizarding World, and flying makes more sense than any other kind of magic. And it would need to be more convoluted than muggle sports. Quidditch fills the brief nicely. Yes, it's sloppily-designed, but what would you expect from someone who doesn't follow sports? I don't see Quidditch as being created specifically to elevate Harry, but more like filling out what are common features of UK school life. As it was worked into the story, it lent itself to being used to aggrandize Harry, but I don't think that was the original intent, just a happy accident. Neither of us knows for sure; we have no basis for our differing assumptions, but it's interesting to contemplate the origins and literary purpose of Quidditch. ______________________________________ Post Comment Research: Rowling said she wanted to create a sport that would anger men, and that it made no sense to have a ball worth 150 points. "It infuriates men...which is quite satisfying given my state of mind when I invented it." She invented it after a row with her boyfriend. Rowling said she was thinking about what holds a society together and causes it to congregate, and knew she needed a sport.
I can´t believe, you never watched Harry Potter! But even better for us! 😅 I loved the imitation of Snapes possible chess game! "Queen to E4. ... Check mate" 🤣🤣🤣 And great intro again! 💜
You guys are an absolute DELIGHT to watch, truly entertaining whilst still watching the movie. Can’t wait to see your channel boom cause there’s no way you can’t. Please never leave! Also, very gitty for this series adventure! Can’t wait to see YOUR houses :P 💜💜
Veronica!!! You are an absolute TREASURE!!! Such kind words, and believe us, we are just getting started!! So many movies to watch, so so many!! Glad you are along for the journey!! 😃
First year students are between 11 and 12 years old depending on their birthday. The actors ages coincided with this range so they actually grew up in real time the same as the characters. The only exception I believe was Emma Watson who was only slightly younger, I think she was 9 or 10 when they started filming.
@@livb6945 Hermione is the oldest, turning 12 in September of her 1st Year (but Emma was 10 at start of filming, September 29, 2000). Ron is in the middle, turning 12 in March (Rupert was 12). Harry is the youngest of the three, turning 12 on July 31st, between the 1st & 2nd Year (Daniel was 11).
I do feel like a lot of side eye could have been avoided if Dumbledore had given them the points in private. Because a) they did voluntarily go to fight an evil wizard to save the world, b) Snape is unfair, and c) they got a ton of points taken away for helping Hagrid (they dwell on it more in the books) who is an adult figure at the school but they don't get to properly defend themselves because they don't want to get Hagrid in trouble. I feel like it's implied (but not very well) that Dumbledore is kind of making up for that injustice. But he could have done that while the three of them were in the hospital wing lol.
It's so crazy that this movie came out 23 years ago. So many of the actors and actresses have passed away since then. RIP Dumbledore, Professor Snape, Uncle Vernon, Hagrid, and Professor McGonagall (and apologies to those I'm not aware of).
Everyone hated slytherin because they were winning the house cup 6 years in a row or something like that prior to this year. And it can also be noted that Dumbledore just gave back the points Mcgonagall took from the trio plus maybe 20 points....soooo....
@@ReelReviewHQ They don't show it in the movie, but Snape was not fair at all and kept taking points from Gryffindor for breathing a little louder, especially now that Harry is there. They've lost so many points mostly because of Snape's favoritism of Slytherin, and I think that's how Slytherin won 6 years in a row. Dumbledore just used the opportunity to make the results fair and kind of punishing Snape for bullying Gryffindor. In the book, there are four big hour-glasses in the hall, one for each house, and everytime they get or lose points, they appear or disappear from inside of them in form of little diamonds. Shame they didn't show it in the movies.
RIP Maggie Smith 😭 I miss that women terribly, she was and is phenomenal in this series. Also in the UK it’s philosopher stone and in the US it’s sorcerer’s stone. It was something about Americans not being able to know what the word philosopher meant so they changed it to sorcerer so it would sell better.😂 it adds up honestly in my opinion. (I’m calling it now you’re both Hufflepuffs) Trust me we all have serious maladaptive dreaming from wanting to be a wizard for decades😂 Also also, hogwarts dinning hall restaurant is an AMAZING IDEA. HOW HAS NO ONE DONE THAT
The important thing to know about the Dursleys, particularly Vernon, that they don't tell you in the movies, is that the one thing they despise more than Harry himself is the thought of Harry experiencing any sort of joy or fulfillment in life, because they are that miserable and petty. Therefore they would rather endure his presence just to know he continues to be miserable, than to allow him to go off and be happy somewhere else. Once you understand that, their behavior makes a lot more sense.
You have the perfect amount of commentary in between dialogue etc. You don't miss anything and get confused for no reason, for example. That's a great quality to have for a reaction channel.
@@ReelReviewHQdon’t be, I know you might not realize it yet but there’s a very natural progression to it.. the movies are supposed to grow with the characters so by that time you are already fully submerged in the story.
I’m SO excited for this. You guys love to have fun when watching movies and this series really is a fun time for adults if you give it a chance. Pardon my potential several individual comments lol I do be having a lot to say about this movie as I watch.😂 (also, Oscar nominated intro lads 👏🏻👏🏻 chefs kiss)
Someone already said this but I’m so sad to be discovering y’all this early because I wish I could just binge all of your harry potter reactions and not have to wait for all the future reactions you will do. Like omg yall are great
I never thought about viewing HP through a "helicopter parent" lens! Haha Like most popular children's adventure books/ movies from the past 100 years, much of it is little kids in a dangerous & threatening world/ heavy themes/ isolation from protective safe adults who can help them. I think that's part of the fun of those stories and where a lot of children's ethics and morals are practiced and cemented. The Goonies, the Hardy Boys, Lion/Witch/Wardrobe, To Kill A Mockingbird, Peter Pan..etc. Kids can handle more than we give them credit for and we forget just how strong we used to be at that age!
I really love how y’all can joke without being bigoted. So many reactors here, especially men 🙄, always turns to bigotry when they want to create a laugh. Subscribed to you guys!
My daughters are about the same age as the child actors, so they grew up with these movies along with the characters. They really loved it, and I do too.
If I had a dollar for all the midnight book and movie releases I took my kids to lol they were this age range when this movies came out. Our fav pastime was debating which was best, lord of the rings(me) or Harry Potter. I love them both.
Each challenge was from each teacher. First was Hagrid with the dogs, then the plant was Prof Sprout, the keys was Prof Flitwick, chess was Prof McGonagall, there was also a potions challenge from Snape but the left that out of the movie and then the final with the mirror was Dumbledore Dumbledore
Your channel just got algorythmed to me today and I've had a whimsy of a time binging on a few of yer postings. As I watch more I am (so happily) noticing that your enthusiasm and comedic commentary/observations (is EVERYthing trying to kill you?) is not a one-off. Every posting is hilarious. You two are the guys at the end of the bar staring up at the tv that no one seems able to change the channels to, so are just getting into it, and I just want to buy you two a coupla rounds. Your reaction channel is a refreshing addition. - consider me subscribed
IM SO EXCITED FOR THISSSS!!!! Harry Potter is top 10 best movies ever and i’m so glad that you guys are watching it. You guys make my fridays 12x better and especially since you’re watching HARRY POTTER!!! Personally I think you guys said whimsical 1000 times but maybe more i’m not sure 😂 I can’t wait for the next one and you guys are the best!!!!
The Dursleys do resent being saddled with raising Harry (note that they don't waste money on repairing Harry's glasses and figure Dudley's old clothes are good enough), but they don't HATE him. They DO hate this 'magic nonsense' because it's weird and showy. It's a British middle-class thing; they prefer conformity. They're embarrassed by the magic stuff. Harry's not 'super-rich', but he is comfortable (estimates are that he did inherit a million, but there's plenty wizards with a great deal more). Actually, it was overhearing the red-headed family use the term 'muggle' that cued Harry that he needed to follow them. Note: If you have any grasp of Latin, it will help you with the incantations; most of them incorporate Latin. There is actually historical precedent for this. The criteria used by the Sorting Hat for determining House placement is the individual student's core values; the Hat matches them with the House's core values. It's not character or talents or interests or any other traits, just the core values. For instance, one would think Hermione would be placed in Ravenclaw because they're intellectual, but Hermione values bravery and friendship (loyalty), which aligns her with Gryffindor. Slytherin is not a 'bad' House, it's just that Slytherin core values have to do with ambition and successful results. They would be most likely to utilize situational ethics. The mistake among too many Slytherins is that short-term success can have long-term costs; the best success takes into consideration how decisions can close off options. There are great and good wizards who were in Slytherin House just as there are bad ones from the other Houses. The problem is that Slytherin core values can lead to poor decisions if made without wisdom and foresight. The Gryffindor password was "Caput Draconis"; Latin for 'head of the dragon'. There's a difference in the biology of muggles (not a slur, just a term) from wizards/witches (male/female terminology, much like boy/girl or man/woman). Using magic is basically the channeling of a vital force, and that vital force has effects on the channeler's physical body. -Resilience: Wizard/witch bodies can handle physical trauma with less damage resulting. Bones and organs require greater force to effect injury, and healing is quicker with no scarring left to mark the injury. Longbottom's broken wrist will mend in a short time and be good as new. So, injuries at Hogwarts are no big deal, just a temporary nuisance. -Resistance: There are far fewer pathogens that can infect a wizard/witch, so no colds or flu, just amazingly good health. That said, there are a few wizard/witch specific germs that can prove problematic or even fatal. Research goes on in the Wizarding World to find charms and potions that can fight these pathogens. -Longevity: Muggles have an average lifespan of about 75 years; the average lifespan of a wizard/witch is about twice that, about 150 years. -Magic-Based Injuries: Ordinary physical trauma is blunted by the channeling of the natural vital force of magic energy, but injuries CAUSED by magic is permanent and can be brutal or fatal. There is no easy healing from it and can result in scarring or loss of body parts. Already you see Harry carrying a scar on his forehead; he may have survived a Death Curse, but he still bears the scar. Anytime you see a character with scars or physical damage, it is the result of magic-caused injury. -Cultural Attitudes About Risk: Because the ramifications of risky actions are so minimal, there is cultural cachet in engaging in risky behavior and/or dangerous activities and vocations. Likely the need to be extremely aware, on your toes, and in possessions of a great many details also adds to a desire to put one's wits to the test, to prove oneself. Magic is unpredictable; it requires you maintain awareness. It's also possible that channeling magic enhances wizard/witch reflexes. Actually, Ron got the syllable emphasis correct, but he mispronounced the last syllable: Ron: LevioSAR, Hermione: LevioSA. The accent misled you. All students on the first day of school are the same year age. First Years are 11, Second Years are 12, Third Years are 13, and so on. Any time after the first day they may have a birthday and move up a year in age, but they complete the grade they started on the first day of school. Harry's 11 as a First Year in this film; his birthday is July 31st. (Film 1 = 11yrs = 1st Yr; Film 2 = 12yrs = 2nd Yr; and so on.) The final year of school is at 17 as a Seventh Year. Also, 17 is the age of adulthood in the Wizarding World, when they have legal rights to be independent and self-determinative and when they are legally responsible and accountable for their actions and decisions. Most will turn 17 before the first day of their final year and they have the right to decide whether they want to quit school, but the vast majority do complete their education. They can begin their vocations while still in school if they like, and many do. The story around Hagrid is more complicated than you know at the moment. He has some...deficits...that were mentioned and demonstrated in passing (bad spelling on Harry's cake, unable to spell a challenging name like 'Voldemort'). Hagrid can channel magic, but.... He's too simple a soul to keep other people's secrets (but good at keeping his own, usually). It's not carelessness, it's disability. "The Sorcerer's Stone" is the American title of the book and film; everywhere else in the world its title is "The Philosopher's Stone". The publishers dumbed it down for the American market because they figured Americans were unfamiliar with the historical concept of the Philosopher's Stone in alchemy and that 'sorcerer' sounded more magical than 'philosopher'. It was the goal and purpose of alchemy to produce the philosopher's stone, said to be so pure as to turn base metal (lead, tin, copper, etc) to gold, to cure all diseases (panacea), and to confer immortality. The Philosopher's Stone has been described in real world historical documents (JK Rowing did her homework) as being red and being both solid and liquid simultaneously. The film does a pretty good job at depicting these physical traits. Gryffindor winning the House Cup is not quite as unfair as it may seem. Slytherin was on its seventh consecutive win, and Draco Malfoy likely had reported the Trio out of bed to help rack up points loss, helping Slytherin House in winning. There's a magical reason that Harry has to spend time living with his aunt Petunia, apart from the Hogwarts summer break. Harry's mother invested all her love and protection into Harry just before giving up her life for him. For this protection to continue through his childhood, it needs 'recharging' by living a portion of each year with a blood relative; that means Harry's mother's sister. Without this protection, Voldemort would finish the job on Harry.
Wow!!! That is amazing Information gathering!! You must be a HP super fan!! So happy to have you around! Jacob and I are always needing to find answers, you’re an absolute legend!!! 😎
@@ReelReviewHQ Not really a superfan, but the central subject matter (metaphysics) has been an interest of mine for most of my life. Also, I appreciate the depth of Rowling's research, which is extraordinary. She dug into history, metaphysics, mythology, psychology, culture, linguistics, and then reconciled all that into a stable alternate culture. It's quite an achievement. The fact that it results in a well-written story that periodically revises itself into more mature forms as details are revealed makes Rowling's work quite fascinating. Every backstory will be readdressed and become more complex; you may think you know what's going on, but there's more to it and it will transform your understanding.
for some reason dumbledore giving neville the 10 points always makes me cry so that with the contrast of yall wigging out was so funny to me. im so delighted that you are doing this series! (though shocked you've never seen it!) not sure if anyone else mentioned this but this sweet dumbledore is only in the first two movies, he unfortunately passed away before they could finish the series. Cherish him.
Lmaooo the title card melting your face 😂 I can never get enough of you guys using Aro's pretentious Dracula-esque voice to talk shit 💀 "Featherbottom's Apothecary" took me out 😂 I loved the dads in you guys yelling at the screen for Harry to please get a hug, I completely agree 😭 Great reaction again you too, can't wait to see y'all enjoy the rest!!! Edit: omg I just saw y'all have 1.7K subscribers, congratulations!!!!! I started watching y'all when you had 103 🥺🥺 Y'all deserve the support!!!
SUHHH TONIIIII!!!!! You are the best truly, been a Reel one from the get go! It’s blowing our minds that people can stand to watch us watch movies 😂 and dude featherbottoms apothecary made me and Jacob pause the movie to cackle lol Seriously though thanks for sticking around Toni means the world to us!
The great John Williams on this magical music (Home Alone, Star wars, etc.) Fun Fact: This score (for the first film) was nominated for Best Original Score at the 74th Academy Awards
They kinda look at physical injuries different than us because they can repair broken bones with a simple wave of a wand or potion, so it’s not as detrimental to them. You’ll see a bit more of that in the next movie. Though it is a running joke in the fandom how ridiculously dangerous Hogwarts is for a school
Hello from a Ravenclaw! Welcome to the wonderful world that is Harry Potter. It's not so much that the other houses like Gryffindor ....rather they are happy that Slytherin lost. It's understood that Slytherin students tend to be sneaky with getting their house points and Snape plays favorites very heavily and tosses them points for any little reason.
Oh my gosh, this reaction was the best 😂 Please PLEASE hurry and do the rest of the series! Don’t drag it out! It’s AMAZING, you guys are gonna love it!
I laughed so hard when you guys said Slytherins earned their points, because they are known for cheating, being sneaky and they're cunning. At every Quiditch game they have cheated, which is why they won the house cup 7 years in a row. In the book Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw cheered the first Gryffindor win over Slytherin. Also, they got the points not because they beat a chess game and flying keys, but because they stopped the most dangerous and feared wizard from returning and destroying wizarding and muggle world. I grew up reading these books and they are meant to grow along with the reader, same as the movies. So things will get propressively darker. I just subscribed and can't wait to watch the rest of these reactions. 😊
Just found you guys and I'm so in love with you! Amazing reaction! I couldn't stop laughing. I'm looking forward to see you watch the other movies, these are my favorite movies of all times :) Great job guys!
Just discovered you guys. I've watched a lot of HP reactions, and this has been my favorite by a long shot. Thanks for making cooking dinner a funny hour for me.
If it's any consolation, witches and wizards are significantly more durable than regular humans. Including the children. Even though the things they're doing are still dangerous, they're not in *as much* danger 😂
@@ReelReviewHQhighly unlikely. However Neville's uncle accidentally dropped him from the window he was hanging him out of (trying to force his magic to appear) and Neville bounced down the lawn.
@ReelReviewHQ there are creative ways a wizard can make themselves bullet proof. After the snake at the zoo scene, one of you said "does harry know he can influence the universe around him"
I've always loved the Harry potter series and practically felt like i grew up with the characters. But loved your reactions and laughed way more then I thought I would. Imagine just being one of the normal kids and just looking at Harry's life like....yea I'll take being worried about tests 😅
oh I'm so happy to find you guys with this reaction. As a Potterhead myself, it was so fun to watch the movie with you two. Can't wait to see the rest of them 💜
Omg I loved your reaction 😂 I laughed so much! You're great guys! I was a fan since it came out and I read the books when I was 10, that was actually the first book I ever read. Been a huge fan ever since, still participating in the fandom. Can't wait for you to watch the next ones! Have fun 🥰
Hey guys! I’m a new subscriber and I have to say you guys are so good at what you do. I love that you guys immerse yourselves into the world of the movie with no preconceived judgement. Or at least that’s the vide I get lol I don’t feel you guys are doing extra over the top embellishment for clout (the intros are great though :). It feels like I’m watching a movie with friends and making silly jokes but not necessarily to undervalue the movie, it’s more like having fun with it. It’s very refreshing 😊 Anyway, I really enjoyed this video. Can’t wait for the next one! 🧛✨🐺🌑
This is easily one of the best comments ever! Thank you so much for giving us the time to watch with you! Can’t wait to do more of these movies! You seriously made Jacob’s and Is day!
i loved this reaction, you guys had me cracking up all throughout and i appreciated that you actually still followed the movie even while making jokes. looking forward to the rest of the movies if you guys plan on watching them!
I'm a simple woman. I see Harry Potter, I click "like" and "subscribe" ⚡💛🖤 I just sat sown with some pan seared salmon, polenta and roasted broccoli and was hoping to find something good on UA-cam to watch. What a cozy, pleasant surprise ! The intro was hilarious 😂🤌🏻
@ hahaha it was good! But yalls reaction was one of my favorites I've seen! I appreciate yall not talking over the movie, paying attention to the details and still getting into the ✨whimsical✨ cozy movie! I can't wait for the rest!
I really enjoyed your reaction so much! You both kept me laughing the whole time! I love how much you guys clearly enjoyed it, you’re in for a very fun ride!!
I was one of the “Harry Potter” kids in school, I went to all the book releases and movie nights…growing up with these characters was amazing and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of people experiencing the magic themselves for the first time! 🥹 It’s literally so wholesome and exciting watching you guys watch this! Have fun with these movies, great video guys!
I wish I would have been into it when I was young, it might have made childhood a bit more magical, but glad to be watching it now. We are having an absolute blast entering into the wizard world!! And can’t wait to do more!!
The last time I was in Scotland, I rode the train used for Hogwart's Express. It is actually called The Jacobite and it takes you and a day trip to the coast. Along the way, it stops at the little station used in the movie. I also visited Alnwick Castle North of England that is used for many of the outdoor Hogwart's scenes.
I thought you were just bunch of weirdos especially before the intro part. I'm glad I took my time to know you guys and you were funny😅. New subscriber here.😊
I first watched this on VHS when I was little because my mom said a coworker recommended it, I had never heard of HP before that and now I've seen all the films and played most of the games, it's funny how things work out that way. Proud Hufflepuff lol.
Haha loving your impressions of the characters and achieving posh British accents. Although not all us brits sound like that, I know I don't lol. Alan rickman as Snape is awesome, I love his character the most. Great into and movie reaction as always dude 🙏
Each house has a set of values I'm a Hufflepuff Hufflepuff- loyalty, patience, fair play Slytherin - ambition and cunning Griffindor- bravery, bold, adventure Ravenclaw- wisdom, knowledge
Love that more and more people are starting to watch and react to HP, so I'm excited to see you guys watch the rest of the films. Plus, you two are one of the few I've seen who actually really appreciated this movie whereas everyone kinda just brushes it off. Just to warn you, the whimsy only stays in movies 1&2, starting from 3 and on it gets progressive darker and tackles more harder topics. Basically the story ages with the "Golden Trio" (Harry, Ron, & Hermoine) and it does a great job!
That I've discovered you guys just as you're starting to watch franchises that I've loved for years (and always love to watch newcomers react to) is, like, serendipitous or some shit. I'm giggling and kicking my feet over here ☺️😊☺️
Yall are some of the funniest reactors ive watched😂 watched through twilight series so far first and starting this series with yall cant wait for more! Legit yall deserve so many more subs.
So its explained in the books? But yes, the reason Petunia hates Harry is shes jealous. You see when her Sister Lily recived her letter to hogwarts, Petunia was jealous and wanted to go to the same school her sister was. So she actually wrote to Dumbledore herself saying she deserved to go to Hogwarts as well. Dumbledore's response was to politely inform her that was impossible seeing as she had NO magical abilities 😂. After that, Petunia hated Dumbledore, Lily and anything to do with wizards or the wizarding world.
Cannot wait for the 2nd movie reaction. Also dont expect whimsical feelings with eachbfilm. First 2 afe very much childrens films and get darker as they go along
Only ever seen the UK version where it is called the 'Philosophers stone', an actual mythical stone that alchemists searched for in their experiments. This search led to some very important discoveries in chemistry, as well as chemistry as a subject. Shame US kids missed out on googling this and learning something. Fun upload guys x
In fairness, in the books Snape, often gives point to Slytherin for next to nothing, and always taking points of Gryffindor for no reason. The teachers are very biased and invested in their own houses winning😂 The movies get darker as they go.... But still whimsical 😉
Regarding the House Cup, in the book Slytherin had won it for the last 9 years. That’s why the other houses were cheering. More for Slytherin losing than for Griffindor winning.
14:43 now im picturing Voldemort trying everything he can think of to kill baby harry but it all fails. Magic, Knives, a Chainsaw, etc until he just gives up and leaves.
I’m sure someone has said this by now, but remember this is a world of magic. I feel like they’re braver with things in a world of magic bc they can heal things better, which is why they don’t think about things being as dangerous as our world.
was a fun watch! as a slytherin i love that you guys noticed how weird the end with the assigning the points to gryffindor was LOL. a reminder that not all slytherin are bad! can't wait to see you both react to the rest of the movies! :)
It's not made clear in the films, but until he's 17, Harry has to spend part of each year with the Dursleys. This is because his Aunt Petunia is his only blood relative, and spending time in her home gives his some added protection against Voldemort.
You guys take on the movie was so interesting and funny, yall made some valid points😂 as i never saw it this way already knowing the world and is true all the kids all seem so unbothered with all this crazyness 😂 it was so fun ! Again loved the little skit at beginning and the outro dance 💃 see you guys soon again❤
A most excellent reaction. I've always felt like Dumbledore was restoring the points that the trio lost due to Draco's snitching even though they did break school rules. Plus Snape was pretty good about flippantly taking points from other houses and awarding points to Slytherin. I agree it would have been a bummer to experience the house cup loss as a Slytherin, but for me I think Dumbledore restored how the points should have been awarded more fairly throughout the year. By the way, I'm a Ravenclaw so I'm not necessarily endorsing Gryffindor or condemning Slytherin.
@@ReelReviewHQ That'll be awesome to see. This is my take on the sorting quiz. Some say to go with your first reactive response, don't think about it. My experience is that can sometimes make you respond in a way on how you've been conditioned to respond, that is, what is expected of you. If you can, try to respond if there were no outside influences, not just how you are, but how you want to be. It's like Neville standing up to his friends, sort of not his current nature, but his deep nature of bravery came out. Or like Ron looking into the mirror of Erised, not how he is, but how he really wants to be. Sorry for this winded reply. I took the quiz and was put in Ravenclaw which I somewhat expected, but always felt kinship to Hufflepuff too. I took a weighted quiz (there are all sorts of unofficial quizzes out there) and the result was Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff 60/40 which is totally me. I wish you all the best.
In the books, Slytherin has always been winning the house cup and they were quite arrogant about it, too. Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs were actually rooting for Gryffindor to win as they were leading in House points (thanks to Harry in his Quidditch Games, and Hermione slaying all the recitations and exams) until they lost 150 points in total due to Malfoy being a rat 😀
In the book they lose the 50 points each because they were meeting Ron’s brother’s friends to send the dragon away so Hagrid wouldn’t get in trouble. Also it wasn’t the trio m, it was Hermione and Neville who go to detention with Harry. Ron was in the hospital wing, because he was bitten by Haggrid's baby dragon, Norbert. Malfoy was there because he had gone to the hospital wing to visit Ron, pretending to lend a book from him, and he took the book that had Ron‘s brother Charlie's letter in it, saying when they where getting rid of Norbert. So Malfoy got caught by professor McGonagall being out of bed, and so did Neville Longbottom, because he had heard Malfoy talking about how he would catch Harry with an illegal dragon.
Slytherin wins the house cup for years mostly because Snape never take points from Slytherin students even when they break a rule. He just ignore them. But he never miss a chance to take points from other house students when they do something, even for a silly mistake. Unlike McGonagall who take points from her own house when they break the rule. This the first time Gryffindor wins the house cup after a very longs time, u can see how other two houses are also happy for Gryffindor. Dumbledore maybe showing favoritism, but those four totally deserve that extra points
This reaction is just so entertaining lmao I couldn't stop laughing when Gryffindor won the house cup. Dumbledore really did the Slytherins dirty I mean couldn't he just award the points earlier and not give them false hope
Is this the most whimsical movie you’ve ever seen?! Also can someone tally up how many times we say whimsical/whimsy?
You guys are very funny. I just subscribed. 😊
Please watch the whole series!!!😍
To quote Inigo Montoya in "The Princess Bride", “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
Even in the first film, there's a child that barely escaped his murder before being left orphaned with neglectful family, another child nearly killed by a giant troll, a teacher annihilated in the bowels of the school, and the ongoing threat of more to come; not particularly whimsical.
How does 'whimsy' play into a story that you yourselves are left complaining how Hogwarts is a death trap? (Just chiding you. 😄)
But it does get darker and more serious.
(No shade meant, by the way.
You guys made a few offhand little jokes that I hope you remember as you watch the rest of the movies. Making your own foreshadowing? Impressive! 😂
"Im gonna be honest, I'm getting kinda tired of Gryffindor winning everything" Oh boy, this ending is gonna be good. 😂
So, this is the Harry Potter's Christmas yearly marathon I didn't knew I needed. Can you please just drop all of them now so I can binge watch please? LOL
Can’t wait to start the next one :)
As someone who has been binging Harry Potter reactions recently, ya'll's reaction was very enjoyable, and I am shocked you do not have more subscribers.
Thank you so much!! We had a lot of fun with this one, pure magic!!🪄
Omg this comment made me so excited to watch
Me too 😂 I guess these guys and just trust Ash had the funniest reactions to HP
I know. I just found these guys, and not only was I surprised at their numbers, I’m now bummed that there isn’t a huge backlog for me to binge. I don’t want to wait with the peasants for content!!! 😂
Ooohh I love that you guys watched the extended version. The extra scenes really add more sass and whimsy
At this point we are Whimsy addicts
56:39 no wonder you got chills. This was actually the first scene they shot, and it moved the director Chris Columbus to tears because he realized that they had cast the perfect actor for the role of Harry
Yea he probably realized like wow we are really onto something here! That’s amazing
Nope the first scene they filmed was the great hall scene in the end
It was such a crack up, kinda making me root for My boys in green!!
@ReelReviewHQ I dont blame yal, even as a gryfindor. It is actually a big joke in the community. The scene showcases dumbledore favoritism.
I love the look on Snape's face when Dumbledore starts the announcement. Like "what now you crazy old man"
"It's not every day that your young man turns 11" - Hagrid
:))
Harry is 11 in this film, every year he is one year older. So the second movie he is 12 and so on. Therefore, the journey gets darker with each film. I am so excited for you to react to these, already can't wait for the next!
Yea this is gonna be awesome, we can already tell!!
Harry’s father came from a very wealthy family they created multiple potions some are shown in the movies. So when his father died Harry was the last Potter he got all the money.
that might also be one of the reasons why Snape as a potions teacher was jealous of the Potters
A slight correction on 25:42
I know they explained it later on in the movie during the game, but most people still miss it or forget it.
Nice! Thank you 🙏
It means the Seeker has to be aware not just of where the snitch is, but where the other team's Seeker is and what the current score is and whether another score against your team will come before you catch the snitch.
Strategy may include NOT catching the snitch but guarding it against the opposing Seeker until catching it also grants your team a win.
@@chris...9497 I honestly would not want to be a seeker. Too much pressure
Which would be a fun mechanic IF 150 wasn't a ton of points rendering the rest of the game meaningless unless it's already been going for days and everyone on one team sucks except the seeker
It's a horribly designed game purposely made so that Harry can be the main character in it
@@whade62000 Quidditch is a game invented by someone baffled by the game rules of most sports.

Post Comment Research:
Rowling said she wanted to create a sport that would anger men, and that it made no sense to have a ball worth 150 points.
I loved the imitation of Snapes possible chess game! "Queen to E4. ... Check mate" 🤣🤣🤣
And great intro again! 💜
Rickmans voice is top tier! Lol
Once you said Griffindor were golden boys I died! lmao I knew the house cup scene was gonna be hilarious. 🤣

And that’s funny cause she’s the most mature out of the three 😂
I think they’d actually be between 10 and 11 depending on their birthday if Harry turns 11 at the end of July!
Emma Watson is three years younger than Tom Felton
@@livb6945 Hermione is the oldest, turning 12 in September of her 1st Year (but Emma was 10 at start of filming, September 29, 2000).
Ron is in the middle, turning 12 in March (Rupert was 12).
Harry is the youngest of the three, turning 12 on July 31st, between the 1st & 2nd Year (Daniel was 11).
@@GillDawe no they're between 11 and 12, harry just has a late birthday, they all turn 12 during their first year.
Exactly Katie!!
It's so crazy that this movie came out 23 years ago. So many of the actors and actresses have passed away since then. RIP Dumbledore, Professor Snape, Uncle Vernon, Hagrid, and Professor McGonagall (and apologies to those I'm not aware of).
That is wild, but I got to say 23 years and this movie seems like it holds up!!
Narcissa, Malfoys mother passed also
RIP Ollivander (John Hurt).

Everyone hated slytherin because they were winning the house cup 6 years in a row or something like that prior to this year. And it can also be noted that Dumbledore just gave back the points Mcgonagall took from the trio plus maybe 20 points....soooo....
Ohhhhhh that makes sense 😅
(I’m calling it now you’re both Hufflepuffs)
Trust me we all have serious maladaptive dreaming from wanting to be a wizard for decades😂
Also also, hogwarts dinning hall restaurant is an AMAZING IDEA. HOW HAS NO ONE DONE THAT
She’s a force, and She truly made the world brighter :(
The important thing to know about the Dursleys, particularly Vernon, that they don't tell you in the movies, is that the one thing they despise more than Harry himself is the thought of Harry experiencing any sort of joy or fulfillment in life, because they are that miserable and petty.
57:45 Hold on to that feeling, because each movie will get darker and darker
That kind of makes me sad lol 😂
@@ReelReviewHQdon’t be, I know you might not realize it yet but there’s a very natural progression to it.. the movies are supposed to grow with the characters so by that time you are already fully submerged in the story.
I’m SO excited for this. You guys love to have fun when watching movies and this series really is a fun time for adults if you give it a chance.
I know. These guys are naturally funny without over doing it.

(Film 1 = 11yrs = 1st Yr;
Film 2 = 12yrs = 2nd Yr;
and so on.)
The final year of school is at 17 as a Seventh Year.

Also, Slytherin had won the house cup for SEVEN years in a row, partly by unfair means

That’s awesome we are glad you enjoyed! This was a very fun watch for us!
Just discovered you guys. I've watched a lot of HP reactions, and this has been my favorite by a long shot. Thanks for making cooking dinner a funny hour for me.
That’s so awesome, thanks for watching with us, hope dinner was good :)👍🏻
If it's any consolation, witches and wizards are significantly more durable than regular humans. Including the children. Even though the things they're doing are still dangerous, they're not in *as much* danger 😂
A friend told us they are bulletproof is this true?
Imagine pulling a gun on voldemort 😂 @@ReelReviewHQ
@@ReelReviewHQhighly unlikely. However Neville's uncle accidentally dropped him from the window he was hanging him out of (trying to force his magic to appear) and Neville bounced down the lawn.
@ReelReviewHQ there are creative ways a wizard can make themselves bullet proof. After the snake at the zoo scene, one of you said "does harry know he can influence the universe around him"
@@stephanien8628 it’s like that meme format- “harry potter” (thick book) vs “if harry potter had a gun” (book with no pages) lololol
Hagrid is the cool uncle we all need; he is like a huge, cuddly teddy bear and I love it. 💜💜
Very very true!!
The opening sequences are incredible 👏🏻 well-made and creative
Astro!!!!! Thank you 🙏 means the world!!
Most unique reaction I've seen to Harry Potter. I'd love to see more. Keep going. Please!
Wow, thank you!🙏 we can’t wait for the 2nd!
My husband and I took all 5 of our kids to watch every movie from day 1!! Such great family memories!! Now Im watching with my grandkids!!❤❤
I've always loved the Harry potter series and practically felt like i grew up with the characters. But loved your reactions and laughed way more then I thought I would. Imagine just being one of the normal kids and just looking at Harry's life like....yea I'll take being worried about tests 😅
just found y'alls channel and I can't stop watching love u guys
oh I'm so happy to find you guys with this reaction. As a Potterhead myself, it was so fun to watch the movie with you two. Can't wait to see the rest of them 💜
Thank you so much for watching with us!
Loved this reaction! Looking forward to the next ones! Y'all are gonna enjoy them!
Can't wait!😝
Omg I loved your reaction 😂 I laughed so much! You're great guys! I was a fan since it came out and I read the books when I was 10, that was actually the first book I ever read. Been a huge fan ever since, still participating in the fandom. Can't wait for you to watch the next ones! Have fun 🥰
Thank you so much, I wish I had given this a chance when I was younger!
You guys made it really hard for me not to laugh at your commentary while I have a sleeping baby next to me. I had to leave the room. Great reaction!
@@Gladeecakes 100% feel the same way
This is easily one of the best comments ever! Thank you so much for giving us the time to watch with you! Can’t wait to do more of these movies! You seriously made Jacob’s and Is day!
@@ReelReviewHQ just keeping it reel 🤭
I see what ya did there ;)
I’m so glad I discovered your channel. This is probably my most favourite reaction video to these movies. Can’t wait to see more!!
Welcome aboard! That is so nice of you to say, we had a lot of fun watching this, the whimsy meter is going haywire!!
@@ReelReviewHQ the journey is well worth it 😁😁
i loved this reaction, you guys had me cracking up all throughout and i appreciated that you actually still followed the movie even while making jokes. looking forward to the rest of the movies if you guys plan on watching them!
Absolutely 👍🏻, and thank you for the kind words, it’s gonna take awhile to get through 8 of these things lol 😂
I love your outrage on behalf of Slytherin. 😂 Great reaction.
I haven't laughed at a reaction video this much in a long time! Your commentary us pure gold! 😂
Wow, thanks!🙏 that is very kind of you!
I'm a simple woman. I see Harry Potter, I click "like" and "subscribe" ⚡💛🖤
I just sat sown with some pan seared salmon, polenta and roasted broccoli and was hoping to find something good on UA-cam to watch. What a cozy, pleasant surprise !
The intro was hilarious 😂🤌🏻
Well first off, that sounds absolutely delicious!! We hope we didn’t let you down! Thank you for watching with us!
Oh yea!! It’s so much fun! We are looking forward to this series a lot! And thank you for the kind words!
The commentary at 36:28 has me dying bc you guys have called so many random things accurately 😂
😂
The last time I was in Scotland, I rode the train used for Hogwart's Express. It is actually called The Jacobite and it takes you and a day trip to the coast. Along the way, it stops at the little station used in the movie. I also visited Alnwick Castle North of England that is used for many of the outdoor Hogwart's scenes.
Ok that’s so enchanting, bet that was beautiful 🤩
I thought you were just bunch of weirdos especially before the intro part. I'm glad I took my time to know you guys and you were funny😅. New subscriber here.😊
Yes we are weirdos lol 😂 thank you for giving us a chance
I first watched this on VHS when I was little because my mom said a coworker recommended it, I had never heard of HP before that and now I've seen all the films and played most of the games, it's funny how things work out that way. Proud Hufflepuff lol.
Haha loving your impressions of the characters and achieving posh British accents. Although not all us brits sound like that, I know I don't lol.
Alan rickman as Snape is awesome, I love his character the most.
Great into and movie reaction as always dude 🙏
You are awesome!!!! What kind of British accent do you have Lucien?
@@ReelReviewHQ hard to describe buddy, definitely not a posh one lol I'm actually on some UA-cam channels floating around on here lol
Im on the hunt to “hear Lucien” 😝
@@ReelReviewHQ well, I am on a ghost investigation video somewhere and I'm on 2 spooky Halloween videos haha
@@ReelReviewHQ happy hunting 🤭🤭
Omg "Just rob the bank, Harry." Made me laugh more than I thought it could have. They don't know yet, do they?
Yay! Finally subbed to a channel that just started watching it. You guys are hilarious.
Do you have a Patreon?
You're the best! Thank you 🙏
We are currently setting it up lol, so new to all this 😂
I am so excited for the next movies!!! I love you guys
Each house has a set of values I'm a Hufflepuff
Hufflepuff- loyalty, patience, fair play
Slytherin - ambition and cunning
Griffindor- bravery, bold, adventure
Ravenclaw- wisdom, knowledge
Where do we go to take the house test??
Ravenclaw in the house! lol my husband is slytherin
I don’t see how anyone could brush this movie off, it’s so much fun and the practical effects are so nice!!
Thank you so much!!
But…but I want the whimsy!!
@ReelReviewHQ need not worry there's whimsy throughout, just a darker whimsy 😄
Only ever seen the UK version where it is called the 'Philosophers stone', an actual mythical stone that alchemists searched for in their experiments. This search led to some very important discoveries in chemistry, as well as chemistry as a subject. Shame US kids missed out on googling this and learning something. Fun upload guys x
In fairness, in the books Snape, often gives point to Slytherin for next to nothing, and always taking points of Gryffindor for no reason.
The teachers are very biased and invested in their own houses winning😂
The movies get darker as they go.... But still whimsical 😉
Regarding the House Cup, in the book Slytherin had won it for the last 9 years. That’s why the other houses were cheering. More for Slytherin losing than for Griffindor winning.
*seven years
Lol what a great video you guys!!!! I loved the reactions.
especially calling out all the shitty actions lol kids and adults 😂😂
Thank you so much, having a blast with Harry Potter!!
I've watched tons of reactions to Harry Potter and you guys are so funny! Can't wait to see you watch all the others!
14:43 now im picturing Voldemort trying everything he can think of to kill baby harry but it all fails. Magic, Knives, a Chainsaw, etc until he just gives up and leaves.
🤣
Them: Love how calm dumbledore is
Us: 👀
I’m sure someone has said this by now, but remember this is a world of magic.
Right??!! He could have at least spoke with the other professors beforehand lol
It's not made clear in the films, but until he's 17, Harry has to spend part of each year with the Dursleys. This is because his Aunt Petunia is his only blood relative, and spending time in her home gives his some added protection against Voldemort.
John Williams's score is alone worth a hundred million dollars.
Easily!!
This is one of the best HP reactions I have seen. Was so fun to watch. Will be anxiously awaiting Chamber of Secrets!
I’ll never forgive you for forcing me to think about Hagrid cakefarts
If we had to, so must you lol 😂
@@ReelReviewHQ YOU DIDNT HAVE TO THOUGH. That’s the thing!!!
So Glad you enjoyed it! It was a seriously awesome movie, can’t wait for the next!!
100% getting sorted into our houses next week
I LOVE how much you guys are loving this!!! Watching it through first time watchers eyes is so exciting 🤩
Thank you so much!!
