“Peace comes when we start treating each other as individuals. Not as members of tribes”. Love it
Yaron provides more moral clarity on this issue than anyone on Earth
"What Justice Demands" is a great book on this topic by Elan Journo.
Damn it, I need to better plan my life around when Yaron comes to give lectures near me ;-)
Yaron begins talking at 14:07 into the video.
This is great. Yaron should be presenting these ideas on Piers Morgan show.
This is a great speech!
Great talk
Cancel my prescription to the resurrection, send my credentials to the house of detention... I got some friends inside. Jim Morrison
Not "prescription," its "subscription." Seriously, pay attention to the basic logic of a lyrical phrase!📜
@@tedl7538 objectivism seems like a neruodivergent inability to empathize and a hyperfixation on logical rules. thats why 99% of people grow out of it, and all the spokespeople are weirdos and social outcasts.
@@tedl7538 Hah, Yaron was using the word Prescription, I was toying with the idea of a parody, not the logic of Jim Morrison's vocabulary choices. The Doors would have been more fun with Weird Al Yankovich as their singer and more successful.

One of the most secular countries on Earth? : ✅
Fab talk by Yaron? : ✅
Altruism alive & well? : ✅

Describing Russia as weak is objectively ridiculous. Their vast natural resources, build out of its military and nuclear weaponry alone. Russia has absorbed all the sanctions and still its currency remains relatively strong and it is not a debtor country either. Mr Brook disappointingly dimly followed the pro-Ukraine line expected from Western Europe. This is not one of Yaron Brooks better discussions
Having natural resources is only as good as having the intelligence to use them to flourish as human beings. On that basis, Russia is a failure.
Absolute hogwash when Yaron says you can have an Islam that respects other people.
Moral Apartheid state lol
In south africa, hospitals and other public facilities, housing and employment opportunities etc were restricted by the color of your skin. In israel citizens regardless of ethnic or religious background have equal rights under the law, and any government discrimination can(and in many cases has) be rectified. Or do you mean not completely capitulating to terrorists such as hamas is apartheid.
@@Chris67-p9v yaron wants the US to have no border, but israel should have one. his "worldview of logical facts" is paradoxical and laughable
@@gnubbiersh647 There's a difference between immigration and citizenship. No country in the world has already free immigration policy but Israel and the US do have policies that all people to immigrate and work. He advocates for free immigration in both, with the exception of criminals and national security threats.
@@Chris67-p9v ??? whos gonna pay taxes for the border security needed to keep out threats???? wtf are you saying lol
@@gnubbiersh647 Currently every country in the world has taxes for this(and a million other things). But in a fully free society you would have voluntary taxation and other methods of government revenue(for example a fraction of the contract value is purchased for it to be legally binding), or selling off government land. This would make up the funding if it's restricted to the police, military and courts.
**Israel's lasting peace: it hinges on Trump. But go ahead, try and have your cake and eat it too.** See how many contradictions
you can eat and spew out this time.
Is this directed at Yaron? He's no fan of Trump

This comment must be what passes for, YB, branded comedy. Either that or it is a confessed inability
to follow logic .... from those who profess to be able to follow logic.
@@martinljubic84 Sorry, but you are not making much sense to me. To help clarify the earlier point :
Yaron is not a fan of Trump or republicans. He's not a fan of democrats either. Both parties are pretty terrible when it comes to freedom these days. Both are collectivists, just about different things.

i dont understand how objectivists claim to be all about merit. being born with an IQ above 20, or a fully functional body to work with, is pure luck. how is any on that based on merit?
Free will exists. Anamoly's in the form of birth defects aren't a standard to build from. We don't owe our lives to the lowest common denominator. You don't owe anyone for being born with 10 fingers and 10 toes. Someone wasn't born with a defect so that you could walk. This type of mystical thinking is self-destructive, and it ignores the very nature of man.
It wouldn't be smart to structure a philosophy for man around anamolies that act as the lowest common denominator of the species.
A rising tide raises all ships. We don't need artificial safety nets in the form of socialist programs. These programs hurt those they claim to help the most. They need entitlement, resentment, and low self-esteem.
You're right. You don't understand. Nor do you try.
@@johngleue im trying to understand. when did you decide to be born with a functional brain?
It's what you do with what you have that's associated with merit. Plenty of low IQ people are rich and plenty of high IQ ones waste their lives.
What you do is in your control. That's what Objectivism emphasizes.
