Have to complement you on great work. I watch a lot of the 4WD Action or 24/7 which is very high tech but I think yours is more enjoyable because its in NZ. Well done and looking forward to future ones.
I grew up watching those guys, from way back in the Roothy days. They are easily my idols and part of the inspiration to start the channel. Cheers mate, plenty more coming that's just going to keep getting better and better
Went on a trip straight after lockdown, lost traction in some mud and over-revved it. Now it's sitting in a shed with a rather bad and loud engine knock ae. Still deciding what to do next with it.
I haven't been able to make the track since I filmed it. But, with every track i've shown on youtube, it has had alot of interest since then so I would think its passable just maybe rougher.
This track has been closed for a couple years now. Due in part by both 4WD and bikes. The general disrespect to the farmer and his property is what ultimately closed it. Dirt bikes are just as bad when it comes to trail damage, and can often be worse when it comes to off-track damage yet it is often not talked about.
Shit this was good bro! Spots like this are my favorite and the swags are actually bloody good in the nz winter compact enough to stay nice and warm, the surf is doing well 👌
Picked up this swag for sub $200 off FB market place and mate, best purchase ever. Throw an awning over top and you'll be cozy warm in any weather I reckon. Glad ya liked the content! Surf is performing rather well so may have to give it a serious test soon haha
Had to bomb it back out to town the next day so we simply just didn't have time. Will be returning to check out the damage some time. Should make for an epic part 2 of Eyre creek.
1996 RZN185 Hilux Surf. 3RZ-fe petrol. Basically stock, Just has a 2" lift in there and a set of 32" muds. Seems to be enough for most things at the moment but plenty more to go onto it.
Unfortunately for all of us, you are correct. Simply searching Eyre Creek on UA-cam will show some of the cause. Other causes was abuse to land owners from 4WDers. I completely understand why it was shut down but very unfortunate that it has. Hopefully in the years coming we can rebuild relationships and re-open the track.
Link in the description will take you to 4X4 Explorer. The best resource in the south for finding trails like this and by purchasing you are supporting the channel. In future I may add more info. Cheers mate!
Unsure of the brand, Mum got it in some giftware store on the west coast ae! But you can find them on Equipoutdoors for around $100 and that's where i'll be buying my next one. Hard to say ae haha theres around 8 different tracks throughout the video so what time was the track playing?
Lost Sheep Adventures also after watching this we will do this track in November as part of our central trip... keen to get the finer details about where it is exactly and how to access it, exit points and the like. If you could mate could you flick a email to chch4wd@gmail.com attn Nick Cheers
Got a bad engine knock after lock down. With no money or job to mend the issue I had to flick it off for what i could and sue that to purchase the Surf. Its also a more relatable vehicle for alot of people.
@@andrasbalogh3344 It has its place. But if i still had the jeep I would only now be able to rebuild the engine and start getting content rolling again
I don't believe I did any messing on this track. I stuck to the main lines and barely spun my tires. If i did get stuck, It was a quick recovery using recovery boards. I did indeed have a good night though.
Picked it up with 2" lift and 32s for 6K. Then had to replace the clutch for $800 and the rear storage has been pretty much free. Roof racks are off a Subaru I think that I hacked up to make fit
Enjoyed ya vid .. nice of you to take others rubbish away and good on for closing the gate

Awesome work bro 👍
Great content. Cheers for sharing.
Great stuff mate!
- Just another jealous viewer all the way from Israel 😅
What a great track and a great video. Have you been on this track recently? I wonder if its still passable since the storms???
I haven't been able to make the track since I filmed it. But, with every track i've shown on youtube, it has had alot of interest since then so I would think its passable just maybe rougher.
Track is now closed due to dangerous and disrespectful behavior. The few ruin it for the rest of us again
Enjoyed your video cheers Pete
Nice video ,isn't there a hut up there the cattle stop hut maybe it was over the hill up the fairlight road
Shepard Creek hut, yeap. Camped nearby ae
the surf is a great vehicle if you just let it take you where you want to go and don't push them top video bro
It honestly is. Can't say its the best outta-the-box 4WD but it is definitely a capable, comfortable vehicle perfect for NZ
Awesome! How do you get to it
Awesome video mate 🤟🏽
Dont get me wrong we go on all these track on bikes with motors but 4x4 just wreak them😢 4:12 4:17

nice video .........Go ahead
Hi can you do a walk through on your gear and rig cheers bro
You didnt carry on up the valley past the hut? the floods really did some havik on the main track, alot of the big bogs are up past the hut i think
Had to bomb it back out to town the next day so we simply just didn't have time. Will be returning to check out the damage some time. Should make for an epic part 2 of Eyre creek.
What’s the setup on the new rig?

@@lostsheepadventures No snorkel/diff breathers?
@@febsie No snorkel yet. Difficult to find a driver side one for a petrol. and yes to diff breathers. They should be standard practice on any 4wd
And now this track is closed sadly due to some people in there 4wds disrespecting the area as what the doc website says

Hey mate, nice surf! How much has it cost you to purchase it and all the kit for it?? Keep up the good work mate
how do you get to the start of these tracks... can you add more than "a little more than an hour from QT" like actual directions to the start ta,,,

Couple of questions
1, what brand is that one pot?
2, what music track was that you’re playing in the during the video?
Cheers

hey bro. great vid. what brand of swag was that???
It's a Wanderer. Got it cheap on Facebook market place. Seems the brand has rebranded a little now but has been bloody good swag
Any ideas if you can take dogs up there.
Hmm haven't looked into it but would pay to check as you are crossing a station to gain access to the river/hut
Why did you switch to the Surf from the Jeep?
Got a bad engine knock after lock down. With no money or job to mend the issue I had to flick it off for what i could and sue that to purchase the Surf. Its also a more relatable vehicle for alot of people.
@@lostsheepadventures Thank you for getting back so fast, the Jeep looks more capable though, is that not so?

What sort of mileage you get on your truck bro? Looking to buy my own one.
It's the petrol version and honestly haven't really counted yet. At a guess i'd say like 400km per tank .. ish maybe. I'll have to find out now haha
What do you use for offline maps?
NZ Topo 50. I have both the South Island and North Island.
what size tyres u got?
around 32" Desert Hawks
Do you recommend an app or guidebook to NZ 4WD tracks?
Highly recommend 4X4Exporer. Great resource for planning trips, check the link in description for more info.
where is the jeep?
Sitting in a garage with a dying engine ae
@@lostsheepadventures awwwwee what's wrong with the engine?
Rod knock of some sort, done a bearing I reckon ae.
Yeah I'll give you money to mess up tracks and have a good night
