  • Why do succulents leaves turn black is something important to know .Black leaves or yellow opaque leaves doesn’t always mean that the succulent is overwatered...At times it happens due to changing environment,water,soil etc
    It’s always better to check before coming to any conclusions.
    While on the other hand overwatered succulent will quickly rot and in most cases you won’t have much time to react if the rot has been spread all over.
    However early detection can help you save some part of the succulent if your lucky.
    So if you notice yellow transparent leaves stop watering and let the soil dry
    If u see rot then follow the later part if the video
    Hope this helps .Happy gardening 😊🙏🏻

    Thanks for your video! I recently bought a little graptopetalum and I was really worried about how many old leaves it was loosing, despite my watering. They're all orange so that's definitely what's going on!

      You’re welcome yes over watering can be one of the reason just wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again ...wish you luck

    What media do you use to repot your rotting succulent ?
    And also please tell about watering them !
    I have 2 echeveria morning beauty in which the lower stem has become brown !
    The stem is not wriggly but the leaves are not much firm
    And when I cut it above some height it looked green and healthy !
    What should I do ?
    Please answer all my questions ☺️☺️ !!

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  4 роки тому

      sudha devi sure mam ....all the succulent soil is same like the diy soil mix video I have made earlier...so after the crown area which I saved once it roots I add it back to the same soil as the problem was with the excess water cause of rains and the soil had no issue
      So water only and only when your soil is completely dry that’s all and if your asking when to water after the succulent is saved from rottin then u have to wait till u see new roots
      Brown stem is also common as the succulent gets matured at times the stem turns brown .....if there is a problem or rot with the stem the succulent will immediately starting dying within 1-2 days
      Lower leaves not firm is ok but the issue is when the upper leaves become soft
      After u cut the stem ensure u place it in dry place and don’t water until u see roots

    Does they need sunlight everyday...
    What if I hv over water them...how will I recover them from rotting... can I use rotten leaves for propagate

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  3 роки тому

      Star Ronith prasad
      Hi...yes most varieties of succulents like echeveria / agavoides / sedums need direct morning sunlight for couple of hours or bright indirectly sun light ....to remain compact and get that’s beautiful bright colour ...... otherwise they will stretch .
      2) Its very difficult to save a overwatered succulent ...but it also depends on how far the rot has spread if it just the initial stage of rot then u can quickly cut off the affected part like if it’s root rot cut roots or if it’s stem cut that affected stem part .....but if it’s spreads to the crown area then it’s impossible to save .😥
      3) No rotted leaves can’t be propagated ( coz the leaf is completely dead ) 😕

  • @akuma3113
    @akuma3113 3 роки тому +1

    I bought this sedum variety a week ago and now the bottom leaves are turning yellow and falling off, the top leaves are still firm and green. Is there an issue that I should be worried about? Also should I pull off the leaves that are yellow?

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  3 роки тому +1

      Deadpool well as long as they are the lower leaves and the upper leaves are still firm and green shouldn’t be much of an issue ......this is probably due to the succulent being introduced to a new place .....however keep a close watch to see more signs .....You may pull it off if u want to but ensure no watering or moisture around the succulent till the cut healed ( should take approx 2-3 days depending on the climate ) .....pulling of a leaf will leave an open gateway for bacteria so the area should be completely dry .....
      Give it some more time for the succulent to get accustomed to the new surroundings....wishing u luck 😊🙏🏻

    I removed all the rotted leaves and planted my succulent that day itself. Is that neccesaary to keep it outside for 3 days

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  3 роки тому +2

      if it’s stem rot or root rot then yes coz we are cutting the stem.....and we need to let it dry and we need to see when the roots appear so we don’t push it to deep in soil ......but if u have pulled out just the leaves it fine and the roots are still present so u can leave it in soil as it is however it very very important u don’t water it at least for 2-3 days u need to let the area heal we’re u pulled out the leaves otherwise it will rot so you need to keep the soil completely dry and in a shaded place with indirect sunlight ....the cuts will heal then u can resume to normal care

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  3 роки тому +1

      Piu Choudhury you can lay it on dry soil don’t push it in the soil as you need to see when it roots ....otherwise it will difficult to see the rooting and everytime you will have to remove it from the soil......or if it’s raining u can even keep it in any dry place without soil aslo it will start to root once u see roots then put it in soil 😊

      that’s why …never add moisture or water to the cut part …it’s take around 3-4 days ideally for the cut to callus ..at this point if the cut comes in contact with water …rot 😒.. always it’s always advisable to wait after the cutting is callous we still need to wait for the roots to appear and then water …without roots the succulent can’t take in water …so always remember roots = watering
