wow...need to up my game. I'm getting strong Anakin & Obi Wan vibes...let's hope you are not tempted by the dark side!! Congratulations my young padawan 🤣
I have walked past the little plant packs in the past because I had no idea they included so many plants. The prices make sense now. Thank you. They will be worth a look in the future.
That turned out great. Love the wood with the roots.. I wish I watched this earlier... Yesterday I bought a lot of Tropica 1-2 grow plants. If MD over plants his tanks I belive my new tank is gonna take the lead😂
i have 4 aquariums at home, and dont really have the space for any more. Then you come along with bloody aquascaped bowls. Thanks Matt!!!! keep up the great work, and Merry Christmas to you and your family
I’m completely new to Fishkeeping. It is fun to do new things, but stepping out of your comfort zone & exploring a new niche can be stressful. I thought I’d researched everything before I actually got Blanche (🐠) but wow I have really deep dived since then!! I have been researching & preparing to properly plant up an ecosystem bowl for her & snail. I have admittedly been a little nervous to actually hit order on the plants, media, & tank && just do the dang thing already! You inspire me. Especially as someone who has so successfully kept fish for so long, I think it is really cool that you are trying something new and learning, growing, & expanding as a both a fish keeper & person. I just hit order- Thank you for sharing your experience!
Interestingly I think the black pumice in the black sand actually looks very realistic. I've seen similar around Lake Taupo in NZ where the pumice and the 'sand' were virtually the same colour and this looks very similar. Great design, thoroughly enjoyed watching.
That is beautiful! I have a 3 gallon bowl like that one. I had too few plants and inadequate light, so a big mess of brown algae. I ran across some shrimp I could afford and it took 2 days to make my plants look pristine. My only fish are minnows from a local reservoir. The aren't colorful, but they are fun to watch. I haven't had fish in decades. You and MD got me back into it in a very small way. Thank you!!
Great build Matt! Can’t believe the growth on those plants 😱 I find it hard to watch build videos other than MD, but you nailed it! Easy to watch and relatable 👏🏼
Looks Fab with the lava stone and roots, and the plants have settled in lovely. If it was a little bigger you'd probably get away with a small shoal of white cloud mountain minnow in there.
it turned out awesome ! I really like bowl scapes I have a few , a tiny 1 gallon bowl a 6 gallon and a huge 14 gallon . here's my pro tip for bowl scapes , after you've scaped , planted , and filled bowl with water , you will sometimes think ," oh that rock needs moving a bit " unlike an aquarium ,when you when you stick your hand in the bowl , water pours out .......learned that one the hard way.
Looks great, maybe adding a bit of pothos , fern or philodendron at the top where the branches touch. Even a both of Java fern there half submerged/immersed
Ok, I'm loving the reviews and fish files, but I'm really loving it when you do a setup like this. Great find with the roots. And what's this about a studio...? Keep'em coming, please Matt.
That would have been savage if you had dropped it on camera but look at the sliver lining would have made good content 😉 looks amazing mate, I love the natural look
I just set up a 2.5g no tech, except a heater because it's -35 outside right now... I filled it with the left over gunk on my 40g tank filter and a few days later I had cpd hatchlings and over a dozen shrimp. When I get extra clippings from my other tanks they go in this one. It's been a fun experiment. Now I want to try a bowl but I'm running out of space 😂 thanks for more ideas and a cool scape. Watch out MD, the apprentice has become the master!
@FishShopMatt a while back you suggested i try honey gouramis for my 40g. I finally found some in town. Couldn't get the wild coloration but the golden are a great edition and maybe they'll help keep my shrimp population in check 😂
I absolutely Love how the wood turned a reddish color with the red plants it looks amazing! Also, I see you have a faux "Timmy the Turtle" on the table beside the bowl very cute ;) I'm sure he will love his new scape haha.
I could kick myself now! I saw a large bowl like yours at our local thrift shop a few months ago, but didn't buy it! Silly me, had I only known! Well I did know, as I saw MD's bowl build, but thought I'd probably not build one myself, and had found other things I wanted right then. Now, seeing both of you and MD's, I really wish I hadn't passed it up! You did an amazing job on this one. Love all the components, and your thoughts, as you worked out how you wanted to do it. Anyhow, I am really enjoying your channel, and love how you and MD both have expanded my viewing pleasure! You guys make a great team, together and individually, and I'll always watch you both! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
We all have to finally take the plunge and do the bowl scape at sometime. I haven't yet, but i have my bowl, it is however only 3 ltr capacity, just like yours but slightly narrower rim. I keep being inspired and the time is near. Good job with yours, It looks great
Loving the channel Matt! Not sure how I missed that you had a channel lol. I’m watching all of them today and doing maintenance in my amphibian, reptile, fish room! You and MD are why I started keeping fish again. The friendship and antics between you and MD is UA-cam magic! Whoooooaaaaa were half way there! Love you guys, hope you both had good holidays. :)
New studio! Congrats! Loved your build and the video. Volume was little bit low but on full volume I could hear fine. Looks like 2023 is going to be an exciting one for you! Goodluck and Happy New Year!
Looks fantastic. Move over MD, Matt’s the new boss of the bowl😂
🤣🤣🤣 I'll let you tell him!

Excellent Mat, the waterscape looks amazing.
I have to crank my speakers to hear your wonderful, beautiful voice, Matt.
That turned out great. Love the wood with the roots.. I wish I watched this earlier... Yesterday I bought a lot of Tropica 1-2 grow plants. If MD over plants his tanks I belive my new tank is gonna take the lead😂

Looks stunning, Matt. You really raised the bar for MD tanks.😄

Love the way this looks Matt. Really affective with the root system. Definitely give us updates as it starts to grow in.

Bro you are not famous yet but please keep it up. Dont be discouraged, your videos are nice.
Scape looks great. All it needs is a couple of shrimp.

Well done, Matt. Lovely scape.
This came up nicely. Good choice on the light as well! Sleek!
Thank you! ❤️
Looks really nice. I would add one or two epiphite plants on the wood like buce . Good luck with future projects!
Thank you, the thought did cross my mind.
Happy new year Matt x

Good job with yours, It looks great
Nice
Happy New Year
What type of filter and fish could be used in that bowl?
A simple sponge filter would be fine, but I have other plans!
With regards to animals anything tiny, like mosquito rasbora would work well!
Love it looks great
That's beautiful Matt, great job. Loving the look of that light. Hope you feel all better quickly. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Thank you! Slowly getting better, happy holidays to you too! ❤️❤️❤️
The sand/rock combo is fantastic!
