Where clouds threaten “Billion dollar” 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

  • According to multiple forecasts, there is a significant chance that clouds could ruin the highly anticipated total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024 for many areas along the path of totality across the United States. Tension is high. Cloud forecast poses a severe risk to countless families plans.
This raises concerns about a potential "cosmic disappointment" and financial losses for areas that have been preparing for an influx of eclipse chasers and tourists.
Clouds could collapse the "eclipsenomics" windfall, if people back out of traveling, that will directly translate into hundreds of millions in potential losses for local businesses relying on this surge of cosmic tourism.
While the rare celestial spectacle will still occur regardless of atmospheric conditions, the ominous outlook highlights the fickle nature of eclipse viewing and its significant financial implications for cities positioned along the path of totality.
Join me as I venture into the path of totality in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and hear from Eclipse Chasers that have chased shadows across the world and people who praying for sunny skies like a bride on her wedding day. Stay tuned to the latest forecasts!

Thanks to the optimistic short term weather forecasts for South Arkansas AND this video, I chose to drive 4 hours this morning from East Texas to the Hot Springs area to view the eclipse. Kind of ironic . Didn’t go any events, just drove north from Hot Springs into the mountains on and stopped at the first lake campsite (Nimrod lake). Couldn’t have been more perfect. In 2017, I did not encounter anything close to the predicted crowds when I drove to Andrews NC -- right on the centerline of the path of totality. Lonely roadside stands were selling eclipse glasses that nobody was buying. A town newspaper supplement claimed "This is literally going to be the largest event in Andrews history," but I parked right at the town common and walked to the Main Street. It was closed to traffic, but I found as many vendors there as pedestrians. "They told us there would be thousands," a guy selling T-shirt said, adding that he reserved his place six months before. In a small outdoor courtyard, a young man played guitar and sang to empty tables and chairs. If the forecast is promising for Monday's eclipse, I'll see how things play out in northern Vermont. Best of luck to you.

In 1991 we went to Mexico for the Eclipse. We didn't go to Teotihuacán because we knew every bimbo and new age wacko would be there. We went to Tula, which was about 60 miles away but along the path of totality.
The view of the Eclipse was SPECTULAR. One single cloud came across the sky and and blocked the sun enough to be able to watch the Eclipse without glasses. When the sun was in full Eclipse the cloud disappeared and we could watch the total Eclipse as the moon covered the sun. The streamers extending from the sun were amazing. And watching the flowers close up and the ants going back to their tunnels was fascinating.

I'm coming to Arkansas from Alabama but I'm staying at one of my cousin's house. He lives within 10 miles of the center of the path near Atkins. I'd love to be in Hot Springs for it but there's no way I want to fight large crowds of people in public areas. I might go there later in the week to do some street photography though. I'm coming regardless of the weather. I've been going up into the Ozarks to take pictures of waterfalls. It's also a dark skies area so if I have some clear nights I'm going to be taking milky way photos too.

No, there is a significant chance clouds WILL (not could) ruin.... The odds clouds could ruin it are 100%. You don't fear you could drown; you fear you will drown. Avoid the double indefinite error.
