I commented on one of the youtube shorts which compared k-beauty &styles from different countries in which I stated that I never saw any k-drma or idols without pale/fair skin which definitely restricts diversity and pure talents too which don't come in limelight due to such toxicity.Lots of support gained from different PPL and response but in end my comment is reported and removed 😂.Social media is helping to spread these toxic topics so we have to use social media as a defensive tool too.These kinds of topics needs to be addressed on mass level.
I lived in Busan, South Korea for 4 years for my PhD. The Elderly had no issues with Indians but the youngsters think Indians are poor and bad people. I used to live there during the Nirbhaya case was going on and this had an adverse effect due to media manipulation.

I don’t believe these guys or any Korean for that matter. Recently I stumbled upon a Korean guy’s travel vlogs (India series) and went through some of the comments on his videos, trust me, I was filled with anger. They had such bad and negative stuff to say about India. I haven’t seen such brazen lack of awareness and hate. An Indian student had an indecent experience in Korea and she has made a video about it. Even Korea is not 100% safe. But their media and people never highlight or hype such incidents.

That's not quite accurate. In India itself, there are many poor people. And yes, while they are hard-working in their "small jobs," often in rags and tattered clothing, that is all filmed by the video loggers that visit there and put these vids up on YT and other social media platforms. Many people are living at or near poverty levels there. Over-population has a lot to do with this, and the govt. should have taken steps to deal with it a long time ago (like China did with their population for instance).
Also, while filming, the video loggers capture the background and infrastructure of many Indian neighborhoods, and in many cases, there is garbage and trash all over the place. This obviously creates a very negative impression in the minds of outsiders.

Most vlogs are shot around poor neighborhoods in India. But those scens I saw on UA-cam aren't fabricated. You should also admit that econonic disparity and poor public sanitation do exist in India. People bathing in water where corpses float around, is unsanitary. No question about it. And people bathing in mud during covid thinking that it would cure them is unsanitary also. Child bribes in rural areas are a clear sign of human rights violation. And the infamous gangrapes of foreigner a couple of weeks ago was not a fabrication. The problem is that the media always and only shows "news." And news mostly contain negative events. And Koreans are almost only exposed to those nagtive scenes when it comes to any outside news. The US and the West have other popular culture to even out negative images. But India lacks culture that is attractive enough for the people outside. Same thing with China and other none secular muslim countries. But when it comes to Japan, even though Koreans hold strong animosity towards Japan, they also respect Japanese due to their culture such as anime and nintendo, etc. Koreans would never doubt that they will see people bathing next to corpses in Japan. Crimes happen everywhere in the world. And poverty exists everywhere. But what the government does to alleviate the issues are what makes the country more trustworthy. And freedom is what attracts people.
Just for your knowledge India is vast and diverse, there are no other country like India. Each & every state is like a different country with different languages (oral, written) even sometime culture too. korea is as small as 1 state of India. Handling India is far more difficult then handling korea.Indian always welcome every outsider with warm heart. India's original name is Bharat which is derived from a Hindu king Bharata. India is actually a place of Hindu and Hindus are not over populated if u see the the world population status as per religion. The thing is that other population migrated India taken India's land and shrunked India(still India is bigger then korea. If u research deep you can find Indian original population is not much, whatever population you can find is all migrated people who stayed and never left india because of their generous heart. Indian people are having big heart to accept everyone. Unfortunately there is a rational explanation for this - we know that prolonged exposure to sunlight causes a change in skin tone - well, we can see the changing skin tone in countries like India - in the western countries - everyone is white - because there is not that much sun exposure and so they did not develop any hate towards the darker skin tone until they enslaved blacks and brought them to their countries
Back to India - in ancient days, people who worked indoors - whether they were working for the King as advisors or soldiers or pujaris - they started to develop a lighter skin tone than the common workers out in the hot sun - agriculture, general outside work
And who works indoors? Those that have some education, those who have money
And so a lighter skin was thought to mean an education, someone with means
And a darker skin tone meant someone who did hard labor, did not have much of an education, someone without means

So i would say something as a korean,,, of course..! You might sometimes get a negative aspect from korean people.
Reason 1.
It is certain that not every koreans went overseas and talked or lived or experienced the new culture. And also, we keep our boundaries ( ex. Koreans saying hi to another korean strangers is versy strange, weird and uncomfortable since they don't know them. So for those who are openminded koreans will going to greet you, but some koreans that are not used to other culture will try to not close to you, especially seniors. Probably language barrier is the biggest one and the second is the mindset. So if you had the experience of meeting korean racist, then you call out for help, or call the police i would say. Because there is no reason to be justified of what they've done to you.
2nd one is, korean have a big individualism if you don't know the korean person. To be honest, mostly korean will not have a lot of close indian friends or Palestinians, asian in general friends. Like i said because they've never been out of their country. So i would say be aware of the korean racists and also protect yourself. But i assure you that there are more good koreans there. Usually there are some areas that there are a lot of foreigners livin. If you live or stay or hang out in those areas, there will be nooo problem at all. Everybody will protect and help you out.
I know that you guys who wants to visit korea have to go through this and i am very feeling sorry about it. But i know the feeling since i have felt the same way after i went to western countries.
CONCLUSION: There will be always racists around you wherever you go. So pick the place that has less racists and you will have your good time there. If you had something rude from them, speak out. But there is thing that i hope everybody know.. is if we generalize other countries people ( koreans are racists!), we are same as them, only in this situation, but every connection globally. So today i believe that there are good people out there for you

We should not generalize people because we know how media picks 1 negative news only out of other 100 positive news anywhere because negativity sells. I also lived in korea for 3 years , in beginning people hesitate to talk to me, it took a lot of time and efforts for me to make friends because I was also hesitant. But believe me all Koreans are not like that, our language & culture is a barrier , people in korea has a different culture, they are not open-minded towards foreigners because they never get the chance to become familiar with other cultures. Because of k-pop & kdramas popularity, foreigners started taking interest in korean culture & society and started noticing & visiting korea. As korean people have their own way of thinking towards foreigners for decades it's hard to change it, it will take time but I am sure they will soon become open-minded and will accept foreigners ☺️
The truth is some Koreans (generally the younger gen) DO like the U.S., Europe and the white / western world so to speak, but not so much the older gen, because they think that the younger gen's admiration of western culture is eroding their own culture. In regard to India, Koreans are starting to get that some Indians / South Asians do have money, but overall their impression of those nations is that it is generally a poor region of the world, and so naturally they will tend to look down on it, and the same can be said for various other south-east Asian nations too. In regard to China and Japan however, which are developed nations like Korea itself, they have respect for these countries, but they also have a good deal of political history with them that may cause some resentment. They basically see those nations as their rivals. Other than that, Koreans do favor white / fair skin when it comes to appearances of individuals, but I think that's generally a UNIVERSAL preference anyway (sorry, people of duskier skin tones... but it is what it is 🤷🏻♂).

Sri Lankans are often mistaken for Indians when they see Sri Lankans because they look similar to Indians. But as soon as they introduce themselves as Sri Lankans, they are very friendly with us. This is a common experience of Sri Lankans who have traveled to any country in the world. Because of this, Sri Lankans always introduce themselves as Sri Lankans first. This situation applies not only to Japan, Korea, China, but also to Australia, England, etc. in all countries of the world.

In my three years of working with Koreans in Hong Kong, I perceived that Koreans may prefer to stick with their own community. I observed Korean do not like anyone non-Koreans, with exceptions for Europeans and Americans. Korea is a highly materialistic society where the perception of individuals is significantly influenced by their financial status. individuals from countries perceived as economically poor may not be regarded highly by them. Even in India, there are concerns about discrimination, particularly towards Dalits, as evidenced by the existing caste system. Unfortunately, there have been instances of racism towards people from the North-eastern states. Hurtful terms like "chicks" and "ching Chong" have been used, On the other side, Biharis and Muslims experiencing racism present another aspect of the story. Racism is everywhere. Feels bad when one feel to have a taste of their own medicine.
