Aaron while I am not in the market for an aerator, I truly appreciate how honest and informative you are in describing the pros and cons of the new toy lol. You give your honest opinion and I know all of us Garden Answer watchers admire your approach and easy manner. As always, looking forward to seeing you and Laura in the next videos. ❤️
Couldn't agree more. He's kind, honest, straight forward and direct with an incredible ability to disseminate the information we all want to hear. Thanks Aaron. I am so happy to see you in more videos.
All the aerial shots made this video so fun to watch! Aaron sounds like he’s in his element and that’s enjoyable to hear as well. I wish more of his sense of humor was allowed in the highlights because I often find myself laughing out loud at his jokes even though Laura is quick to rein him in maybe for fear her broader audience wouldn’t enjoy it. I might be in the minority here, but his humor and added commentary is what makes this channel really resonate with me. I really love all things gardening related, and Aaron’s comic relief and levity is the cherry on top Making this my fav YT channel. Anyway I really hope this is a sign of more to come!
Oh goodness yes! I actually spit out coffee laughing at a Napoleon Dynamite movie reference which Aaron once made in a video a while back, when he was throwing rocks - “Back in '82, I used to be able to throw a pigskin a quarter mile.” I suspect that he and Laura laugh often at each other’s humour.
My mom and I share a GA obsession and my dad loves to make fun of us for it--loved sending this to him because this is the sort of thing he can get into!
I clicked on this video so fast! After the driveway video I was so excited to see another how to video by Aaron! Should make a series called “Aaron’s how to’s”!
I almost broke my phone trying to hurry to click on this video! Yes, we LOVE Aaron videos!! Y’all are a gardening super couple and we are so lucky to have the opportunity to join you in your beautiful space. Thank you for the daily inspiration and sparks of joy!
I love the balance you both bring to this channel. Laura, you teach from your heart and utilize your hands on knowledge, while I feel Aaron best presents to us the more technical, data driven side of things. I so appreciate the contrast. Complimenting each other, and this channel, so perfectly. Thank you for this informative (*bonus*) video. I'm putting my vote in for more "behind the scenes with Aaron" opportunities.
So yeah, watching Aaron aerate the lawn might be one of the most soothing pastimes. Are lawn aerating videos the new unboxing? This could be a new trend! We need a playlist of Laura cleaning up the beds for spring planting and Aaron aerating and we are good to go!
Lawn videos ARE the new unboxing! My husband watches them every spring to get ready for our lawn care and its so relaxing to watch. Half the time I have no idea what they're talking about, but watching grown men pet lawn and mow in tight patterns soothes my brain!
I thought the same about it being soothing. I was just watching it at the end thinking why is this so enjoyable. I will never roll my eyes at my husband watching mowing or lawn videos again LOL
Strangely enough I love watching cleaning videos....this is kind of like that! lol. (Loved it...but I should go out and actually work in my OWN garden...just like the cleaning issue...hehehe)
I just can’t get enough of the overhead drone videos!! Your property is looking more and more beautiful!! All your hard work is showing!! Great job!! Excited to see what happens with all the new pots I saw!! 😂❤
I’m really enjoying these extra little videos from Aaron’s prospective and look forward to more hopefully! It is nice to see because we all have a need for this kind of info in some capacity. This content is an added bonus to your ever growing channel. Well wishes.
So here’s the thing. I never knew this tool existed, and I never though about doing this and I’m never going to buy this. BUT I’m such a fan of Garden Answer, Laura and Aaron that I was excited to watch it anyways. It’s still intriguing to know what you guys are doing “behind the scenes” and I love that Aaron is stepping out from behind the camera to show us what he’s doing and what he’s interested in! I’m sure this video will be helpful for a lot of people.
I once went to a seminar by the Texas A&M Turf Guru. My biggest takeaway was this instruction he gave: "If you only do ONE thing for your turf, AERATE IT!! Twice a year. Make 3 passes: two passes perpendicular to each other, one pass on the diagonal. After a couple of years, you won't need pre-emergents, post-emergents, or maybe even fertilizer." I was sold!!! But man, is it hard work on a rented walk-behind!!
Next time water the lawn for a few days pretty heavily before you aerate, exactly a day before you mean to aerate, don't water and let it dry out a little. This will soften the ground and you get deeper and better plugs, even in the worst spots
Super COOL that Aaron narrated this vid. Interesting subject as well. Aaron is such a cutie pie. The exit music was perfect. Not sure if Aaron or Ken came up with it, but it's EXCELLENT. An all around nice surprise, this vid. 😉 Thank y'all. It is so your family.
Automatically tapped on this post. Love that Aaron is putting out these informative videos and the drone shots give a great overhead view of your garden in progress. In fact i watched it once again without the sound just to enjoy the drone footage. Keep them coming!!!❤
Aaron, I appreciate your in depth review and comprehensive instructional video of the aerator. For those of us with smaller lawns, I recommend renting a smaller unit once a year from your local rental center. I have noticed the improvement of my lawn since aerating a couple of years ago.
Nice job on the video, Aaron! I don't even have a lawn but was happy to learn something new anyway. Of course, you do whatever you feel like, but I think you should consider posting them on the main channel. Don't hide them here!
Yay Aaron! So happy you are FINALLY comfortable being in the videos. From the comments I see I'm not the only one. Please keep it up. I do not have grass anymore, but so enjoyed all of your suggestions. Learn something new everyday! Thanks Aaron! You Laura and the kids are so enjoyable to watch.
Aeration is so important yet very rarely used by many homeowners. Glad to see Aaron doing more of the technical side of things. I think your male audience will increase as we like to know the bolts and nuts of our toys.
Aaron - your voice was MADE for videos! So clear and great diction. And the info you provide are concise, honest and Very informative. I am not in the market for the aerator but learned SO much from this video and you kept me engaged all through the video - that is SOME amazing talent there!!!!! Please continue making your videos……
Aaron, it was great hearing you explain the aetator. It would be great to hear you add tool and equipment info along with your lovely wife's tutorials. Bless you both and your family.
When I little, my elementary school aerated the big grass lawns that we played on. All of us kids saw the plugs left behind and thought it was goose poop, because we sometimes had geese take up residency at our school. We just thought like 10,000 geese used our playground as a bathroom. So we walked tentatively around on our tip-toes for about a week because of all the “poop” 😆
Aaron, your review was spot one.Your point of view and knowledge of the product was very easy to take in. An added bonus with all the great drone work as you were explaining your land issues and your why's made it make sense.
OMGOSH- You’re gonna love the results! Great review too! I had a bit of landscaping PTSD-a former job of mine was planning events for a Southern CA college campus. Imagine 25 acres of gorgeous lawn aerated/plugged the night BEFORE 2,500 people & VIPs arrived. I arrived at dawn and cried seeing the sunrise over 25 acres of what looked like a giant cat litter box. That was the first & last time neglected to include landscaping in my event planning schedule!!!
Yes aeration is important and as you guy’s done get that much rain it would be hard. New toy nice. Great review Aron. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
This was actually peaceful to watch! Considering this is done on golf course that get a lot of compaction from golf carts and players, this should wrk great.
It’s very cool to get these Aaron videos, would be cool to get your perspective and thoughts on other things to, like video editing, working for yourselves, and business relations I feel like you would be able to make some Quality videos
Do I need an aerator…… no, would I watch a hundred more videos like these because Aaron’s the boss at voice over and can make even an aerator review super cool and interesting with his B-roll? YAAAAAASSSSSS! Sincerely, Joyce 😉😅
Making notes for our property! Great investment, I think! Thank you! Loved the combo of drone, music, voiceover, and cool close ups of the grass plugs, ignition, buttons, etc. 😁👍💗
Hearing Aaron narrating made me shed happy tears! I'm so proud of you and happy that you made your "debut" as the star of this video. You guys are my life (aka what I answer when people ask me what I do for fun: "have you heard of Garden Answer?"). Thank you for making my day every day guys!
The drone footage was amazing and shows how far you and Laura have come! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and showing us Aaron. I will be interested in a year or two review of this process.
I was so excited to see this video pop up!! Thank you Aaron for doing another one of these! I hope you keep them coming! I would really like one on how you maintain and care for your Arbs. Water schedule, fertilizing, pruning. I have kind of fallen in love with them every since you two planted them in the raised garden bed area. Plus, maybe an update on how the ones at your church look. How much they’ve grown since planting. That would be really nice. Also, at 4:38 are those boxwoods I see in those PW cans?? Oh my goodness! you guys keep me on the edge of my seat I’ll tell ya! And I’m so grateful! ♥️😊
Aerating is one of the best things you can do for your lawn! I even aerate my raised bed area before building the bed. 30 yrs of landscaping taught me this. As far as your one inch plugs over the drive, that will improve over time. I almost wish I had a need for this aerator...lol.
Love Aaron videos! I hope he does more of the tech, machinery, and irrigation videos. He really seems educated and invested on the best products out there. Which will help us viewers out.
I love the drone videos! Aaron did such a wonderful, concise review makes me want to buy one! Two of my favorite, informative garden people! As Laura says, "see you in the next video"!!❤💐
Interesting video. I’ve never thought of actually aerating, but it makes sense. I’ve started new grass area last year as well, and maybe it’s the little devil in me, but seeing the same bare spots and unevenness at Aaron’s grass made me feel better. I would love to see more videos about lawn maintenance, like weed control (trying to pull them by hand, but not sure if I make enough progress) and other problem shooting. Thanks!
NOooo! It doesn't make sense. Maybe on the tipity tip top surface it sounds like it makes sense, but you're only punching a few hundred holes in an acre of land. What makes sense is to encourage Mother Nature to do what She would normally do, and She will take care of any compaction. Mother Nature's de-compactors are the thousands of species of fungi living in the soil. When they are well fed and watered, they will send out tendrils called hyphae around and through the soil. There will be millions if not trillions of miles of hyphae in every cubic foot of soil. Those hyphae expand to open the soil and contract to allow air and water back in. It is amazing how fast they can convert hard soil into soft soil. So how do you encourage them? They need to have an environment which is much the same moisture content and temperature for several inches down. I was successful using soaker hoses to achieve that, but it took weeks. Others have been successful by spraying shampoo on the ground to allow water to move deeper. I tried it and it worked amazingly well. The application rate is 3 ounces of shampoo to 1,000 square feet of surface. If you have 3,000 square feet to spray, put 9 ounces of any clear shampoo into a hose end sprayer. Fill the sprayer with water and spray as evenly as possible to cover the area. Spray until you are out of spray. Follow that up with a half inch of irrigation or rain and in 3 weeks you should notice the difference over every square inch - not just where you punched the holes.
Hi Aaron, Great video on aerating the lawn. As I was watching ,it is amazing how much things have changed on your property!! I've been watching your videos for a few years and enjoy them all. Thank you for all you and Laura do and for letting us all share in your projects . Love the drone footage !! Amazing footage!!😀
Way to go, Aaron! That is one nice piece of equipment. While it is quite expensive, I would imagine if you hired someone to come in and aerate twice a year it would be very costly. You have so much lawn….and more in the future. A wise investment. Always enjoy the aerial footage. Never can get enough of that. It’s nice to see the whole picture. Thanks for sharing.
oooo Aaron taking the lead in a video!? How exciting! I would still love some videos where we follow Aaron around and see what his chores and projects are like. Lol
Another Aaron video! What a nice surprise! It is not only wonderful to watch your videos at 7am in the morning to get the day started, but also at this time at night to end the day with an unexpected joy from watching Garden Answer videos. Very informative and helpful video Aaron. Thank you!!! Congratulations from DC zone 7a!
This was quite an informative and entertaining video on lawn aeration Aaron. I like your overall perspective when covering the garden....it just seems to bring everything together. Thanks!
I don't need an aerator but this video makes me want to go and buy one! Loving these informative videos from Aaron who has such a natural talent for presenting. Looking forward to many more.
Well done, Aaron! Love seeing these videos from you! Nice addition to an already wonderful channel. Love your precious family. Thanks for sharing with us! ~Cassandra Senter, Zone 9A
I loved this video. Aaron, you add so much information and style to the channel. It’s another dimension that is important to taking care of a lawn and garden. You and Laura make a wonderful team! Thank you.
I too am a tool junkie. I appreciate Your honest and straightforward approach and look forward to your videos. I have hand aerated my large lawn and it was not fun. If it wasn’t for the fact that I have replaced a large portion of lawn with gardens and fruit trees I might have been in the market for this.
LOVE that you are now starting to do your own videos! I really enjoyed the gravel driveway maintenance video, as well as this video, and encourage you to PLEASE continue making these videos! Perhaps your content could be about the Laboutillier property/house infrastructure projects, which Laura sometimes apologizes to her viewers on the main GA channel for not being strictly garden related (which is unnecessary, because we love all of the videos you guys post, regardless of subject matter! 🤩) Best wishes to all of you! PS. The drone shots are SO enjoyable!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Granted I've only read about 20 to 30 comments so far I'm seeing only praise for you Aaron. 1. I wholeheartedly agree wonderful video very informative thank you! 2. See Aaron we aren't so scary 🤣
Great video. And while I wouldn’t need such a piece of equipment, it was great instruction on the need to aerate. Will rent a powered aerator and add that to my spring cleanup and prep for the new season. Thanks!!
Wow! From the looks of all those Proven Winner cans sitting out on the south garden, you guys have a lot of great content heading our way! Looking forward to the coming growing season. Thank you for sharing the awakening of your lovely garden. It is truly uplifting and inspiring for me. Is that a new exercise pen for horses that your neighbors have? How fun to get to see and enjoy the horses with none of the hard work that comes with them! 🙂
Thank you Aaron for sharing this. The drone shots show how much your property has changed, a huge change actually. I remember when you guys first got the house and how everything looked. You two have accomplished a great deal, it’s really beautiful.
I love that you two can make such a broad swath of things interesting. You explain and break things down so well too Aaron! It’s got me over here with my tiny lawn like 🤔hmmmmyesss, aeration 😄 It gets me thinking of scaled down versions for myself!
This was fun! Especially seeing all those shrub goodies lined up in the back there! It's a great way to bond with your lawn 😅 We used to do this all the time on our golf courses! I am watching to the end to see if you are going to turn around and wave at the drone 😍
At 4:38, do I see rows of little boxwoods all lined up? Maybe for around the Hartley? Maybe for, say, a knot garden? The suspense is killing me... ~ Lisa
Thanks Aaron This is interesting! I love to learn new things. I have heard about aeration but didn’t understand the concept You helped us to understand and your narrative is so helpful. Thank you
I would never buy an aerator for my lawn, but I still watched and thoroughly enjoyed this video. Great review, Aaron. Looking forward to the next video from you!
Thank you for another excellent video Aaron. It was both informative & calming to watch. Also, I definitely saw lots of new plants in their pots. Laura must have something special planed soon. So exciting!!
Aaron, this is just what a lawn needs to thrive. We aerate our lawn every two years and it makes such a huge difference. I appreciate all the information you provide and your honesty in everything you review. The aerial shots are great. Would love to see more of the entire property as each part is being planted.Laura I see those pots waiting to be planted. Can’t wait for everything to fill in with color. It’s going to look spectacular.
Enjoyed watching this video. Aaron, you did a great job. It was relaxing and peaceful and allowed a wonderful view of the property. Excited to see all the plants and trees being planted.
This is the first Aaron video I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been watching Garden Answer vids for quite a while now. Gosh, his voice is so soothing! I have absolutely no need for an aerator, nor any desire for one, but dang if I didn’t enjoy this vid all the same, lol!
Well said! 😉
Couldn't agree more. He's kind, honest, straight forward and direct with an incredible ability to disseminate the information we all want to hear. Thanks Aaron. I am so happy to see you in more videos.
Yes, exactly! I thoroughly enjoyed the video despite my aerating efforts can be done with those crazy strap on shoes that you walk your yard with!😂😂😂
All the aerial shots made this video so fun to watch!
I agree with Jessica!!
You're not alone Jessica!
I could not have said it better❣️❣️❣️
My mom and I share a GA obsession and my dad loves to make fun of us for it--loved sending this to him because this is the sort of thing he can get into!
I clicked on this video so fast! After the driveway video I was so excited to see another how to video by Aaron! Should make a series called “Aaron’s how to’s”!
Love this. I’d def watch
Love hearing from both of you!! The independent videos are awesome!!
Great information. With a large property it's money well spent. Really enjoyed the video. Keep em coming#
*Aaron’s* Answers!
YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU 🙏
I almost broke my phone trying to hurry to click on this video! Yes, we LOVE Aaron videos!! Y’all are a gardening super couple and we are so lucky to have the opportunity to join you in your beautiful space. Thank you for the daily inspiration and sparks of joy!
1000% YES!!! 😃

Thank you Aaron. It was nice to see you doing a review, I hope you continue to make appearances on GA. 🌷💚🙃
Thank you for the bonus video today. Aaron should do more videos!!!!
I’m really enjoying these extra little videos from Aaron’s prospective and look forward to more hopefully! It is nice to see because we all have a need for this kind of info in some capacity. This content is an added bonus to your ever growing channel. Well wishes.

Enjoy seeing Aaron doing more on the channel. Keep em coming 😁
I feel like these Aaron centric videos will bring a larger male audience to the channel because he does these larger landscape chores.
Well done, Aaron! I spy a ton of Proven Winners plants! Can’t wait. I love your channel!
I once went to a seminar by the Texas A&M Turf Guru. My biggest takeaway was this instruction he gave:

Laura got some UA-cam competition.
Arron's got his own channel coming.
Good job!
Nice job on the video, Aaron! I don't even have a lawn but was happy to learn something new anyway.
Of course, you do whatever you feel like, but I think you should consider posting them on the main channel. Don't hide them here!

Hi Joan how're you doing today?
Although I live in an apartment I need to know how to use that tractor with all the attachments. It's highly entertaining and I 💖 watching ... thanks.
Such good info!! We need to aerate our lawn too.
I spy a lot of plant cans and can’t wait to see what Laura’s going to do with them ☺️
What's the time stamp please ?
@@noemierollindedebeaumont1130 4:38
Could they all be for around the Hartley??
I was wondering the same😊 what are all those plants lined up🤔
Aeration is so important yet very rarely used by many homeowners.
Great review! I really like how you two are working- Laura=flowers&shrubs, Aaron=lawn care & trees
Lolololo Exactly what it looks like!
Yay! Extra video!🙌🎊 I ❤️ Aaron's awesome lawn/tractor content & equipment review(s). Love you guys! Thank you both so much!
Hi there how're you doing today?
Aaron, your review was spot one.Your point of view and knowledge of the product was very easy to take in. An added bonus with all the great drone work as you were explaining your land issues and your why's made it make sense.
Great job! Love the info. Looks like such a peaceful time out there on the tractor. Gotta love spring! Ah…the world is waking up!
OMGOSH- You’re gonna love the results! Great review too!

Aaron’s first video! This was long time coming and it was spot on. Very nice.
Now do a video on nifty garage organization lol. I could use that!
I save these for my husband to watch with me too. Thank you for bringing us a little closer.
Interesting review, and very informative as far as lawn care goes. Loved the drone shots. Hope you do a recap of this on Sunday!
This will make a big difference for sure. Happy to see Aaron enjoying a new turf toy. BTW, great job with the review.
This is an EXCELLENT review! All of the info we need is there. It's to the point and beautiful opperating footage. A+ Aaron 👏👏👏
Good job, Aaron. Very wise to get the electric lift. Mine doesn’t have it so I opted to have a lawn center professional do this task for me this year.
Love Aaron doing an informative narrative, great addition to the channel. Would like to see more of these
Enjoying Aaron's solo videos as an edition to Garden Answer! Hope he continues to do these.
I'm loving Aaron's videos! He's a natural. Have enjoyed both of them!
It’s very cool to get these Aaron videos, would be cool to get your perspective and thoughts on other things to, like video editing, working for yourselves, and business relations I feel like you would be able to make some Quality videos
Wonderful information…it is a treat to see all of the aerial shots so that we can get an idea of the way things are used.

Aaron - what a great review. You covered all the pertinent points. Looking forward to seeing if and how this helps. Great job!
Thanks Aaron, great review with all the Information plus the costs. I like how you let us know that most homeowners would not typically be buying.
The drone footage was amazing and shows how far you and Laura have come! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and showing us Aaron. I will be interested in a year or two review of this process.

Love seeing Aaron’s videos. Would love to see more of what he does. Infrastructure is so important and he explains it so well.

Aaron we want more videos that was awesome will see you in the next one I love it
Hi Dannette how're you doing today?
Way to go, Aaron! That is one nice piece of equipment. While it is quite expensive, I would imagine if you hired someone to come in and aerate twice a year it would be very costly. You have so much lawn….and more in the future. A wise investment. Always enjoy the aerial footage. Never can get enough of that. It’s nice to see the whole picture. Thanks for sharing.
I love that Aaron is doing voice overs especially on tips and tricks for lawns. Great job Aaron!
oooo Aaron taking the lead in a video!?
Thanks!
I love these videos, Aaron! Can’t wait to see more from you soon 🙂
This was a great video Aaron … loved it and please keep them coming! 🤗
I don't need an aerator but this video makes me want to go and buy one! Loving these informative videos from Aaron who has such a natural talent for presenting. Looking forward to many more.
Yay Aaron! Lord of the Lawns! Looking forward to seeing beautiful grass this year. 👏
Great job Aaron- very informative and loved the drone shots!
Thank you.
Arron you are an excellent commentator!!! …I really enjoy the way you put your videos together…😀
I too am a tool junkie. I appreciate Your honest and straightforward approach and look forward to your videos. I have hand aerated my large lawn and it was not fun. If it wasn’t for the fact that I have replaced a large portion of lawn with gardens and fruit trees I might have been in the market for this.
So nice having Aaron reviewing equipment! I enjoy listening to him talk & let us know the good/bad. Thanks Aaron!
Dethatching is great for compacted lawns as well. Do some UA-cam research on it. Can't wait to see the green!
Loving these little vlogs from Aaron, such a calm and pleasant voice to listen to 😁
Bonus video! Love it! Great job Aaron! This could have been a main channel video.
Granted I've only read about 20 to 30 comments so far I'm seeing only praise for you Aaron.
1. I wholeheartedly agree wonderful video very informative thank you!
2. See Aaron we aren't so scary 🤣
This is exactly the content I wanted to see from Aaron! Thanks!
I’m really enjoying Aaron’s videos! It’s neat how he’s become so comfortable on camera. 👍
Hi Dawn how're you doing today?
Thank you Aaron for sharing this. The drone shots show how much your property has changed, a huge change actually. I remember when you guys first got the house and how everything looked. You two have accomplished a great deal, it’s really beautiful.
I love that you two can make such a broad swath of things interesting. You explain and break things down so well too Aaron!
It’s got me over here with my tiny lawn like 🤔hmmmmyesss, aeration 😄
It gets me thinking of scaled down versions for myself!
I see lots of new plants 👀 love seeing the property from a different view!!!
The improvements are amazing!!!
~ Lisa
Great video! Side note, I agree with Aaron - get some big shade tree’s planted 😉
Thanks Aaron! 💚💚💚
Hi Lynn how're you doing today?
