This person has a special place in my heart... He has made my imagination grow as a child.. And I still love.. Love is a small word I can't explain how it feels like to read his books... Love him always... Love from Vizag ♥ ♥ 💗💗💗💗💗💗💖💖💖💖💖
30 years ago when I was working as an Anaesthetist in Landour community hospital, extreme good luck knocked on my door one day and I was for the first time introduced to this humble writer who brought a clay pigeon for my 2 years old son to play with. I was very curious and couldn't contain my thoughts past the tea time. Not realising in whose presence I was, I questioned Mr Bond about the purpose of such a gift. His words still ring in my ears today. Quite simply he said " I want him to know what it feels like to break something! " In that instance, I silently saluted his vision that could only come from a sensitive man of his great stature. Recently in my Retirement, I have taken to Scriptwriting and poetry. How I wish I could have a chance to meet him again and share his wisdom to guide my humble efforts at writing. Someday soon I will find myself knocking on his door but surely not during his afternoon nap time!
Met him thrice in my city and was fortunate to have a conversation with him the second time (he, as well as my father and I, arrived early to the event 😂). He is extremely kind, soft spoken and humourous. Even it was a very warm day, he spent time with the young children despite his tiredness. He was talking to everyone, including people setting up the shamiana, people serving drinks etc with extreme politeness. I had written him a long letter and he read it on the spot and said "you write a lovely letter! I will keep this in my pocket now!" My father had been scared that like most celebs he would be standoffish and I would be let down, but it was SUCH a pleasant experience. He is as gentle and tranquil as his writing.
@nomad traveller you could see him too , go for a trip to mussoorie on Saturday evening at 5pm at Cambridge book store. Remember to take an appointment
Why is this a special video for me? I have been there, in that flat of his! Way back in 2004 with my father, we climbed all the way up to his place. Disturbed or not he was very kind enough to let us in, sign my brand new copy of 'Delhi is not far' while a 17 year old me just sat in awe listening to him. My father is no more to share this video but I am so happy Ruskin Bond alive and still sharp! Wish him a many more years of a happy, healthy life! Thanks Quint!
Hands down he is one of the most popular modern English writers in India... But most importantly he is an essential part of our childhood. His descriptive skills and plots specially those setting in the hills and forests are simple and lucid but so powerful and impacting that everytime I visit a hill station in North India, random lines from his book flash in my mind. Lots of love and respect to you old man from Kolkata. 💖
Ruskin Bond is my favourite author and my daughter's too! Nothing can compare to his works. We were introduced to his writing, with 'The Night Train to Deoli', in school and there's been no looking back! Thanks Quint! Thank you Mr. Bond, you were an intrinsic part of our childhood and your stories have always been very close to out heart!
Needless to say I am a great fan of yours....I loved watching this video and listening to you with a happy smile on your face all the time....I too belong to the North-Eastern mountains and grew up in a hill-station so I can empathize with your love for the beautiful mountains which are always the background of your absorbing stories, thank you Mr Ruskin Bond and wish you a very Happy Birthday!
Wish I could like it a hundred times- such a simple man, his simplicity reflects in his writing. Ruskin Bond -Sir, you made my childhood. Forgive me, but if i go to Dehradun for a tour i would also like to get a glimpse of you once :D
A lovely kind man from the older more elegant and more caring world. I wish him well and I hope he lives a long and healthy life. God Bless him. He has delighted generations of people with his kindness and writings....
His writing evokes so much feelings in me simple yet soo powerful. In this busy world his stories smells like fresh mountain breezes. Just love this man's simplicity.
Ruskin Bond is my favorite. I feel a very special, emotional connection with him which can't be expressed in words. May you live longer and healthier sir. ❤
I once attended a lecture organised by penguin where she spoke about his life and childhood experiences. Might I say he is the most interesting person I have met in life. His childhood stories entertained me so much. ❤
Sir is immortal. Love u sir. I remember how your stories shaped my childhood you are a godfather to all of us. Hope I can meet you soon sir. He deserves Bharat Ratna he is a teacher to all children in India.
Awww! Good old Ruskin Bond. I took my two daughters when they were hardly 8 and 5 to meet him and sign their copies of his books. He was so nice to them. He also introduced them to the family he has adopted and looks after his needs.
I wish he lives more than 100 years. He deserves it.Can't afford to lose a person like him.He is literally the best.❤ "A face in the Dark" still gives me goosebumps.Gosh! He has a strangely comforting tone in his voice as well as in his stories.
In a country like India, where people usually don't read much, it's so good to see so much love for this man. For me, he's not just a children's author. When I am tired of monotony, of views of concrete jungle and just want to curl up and escape, I pick up his books even today. Such a beautiful imagination he is having.
Unequivocally, he is one of those writers who has the ability to captivate the hearts of millions, including people of all age cohorts- minors, adolescents and even the old! Thankyou Mr. Bond for being a favorite of some and an inspiration to many!🌸
