Practice your triads with this great progression I stole from Bach.
Bach doesn't repeat this progression (or any progression) over and over like this, but I think it's beautiful enough to do so. Many composers have written entire pieces based on stuff Bach delivered at 1000 miles per hour.
I just discovered this channel 5 minutes ago, and you're already one of my favorite guitar players. Can't wait to learn from you!
Noel is classic. Better do your homework to keep up with this pace. Had a teacher like this years ago. Just miles ahead, music pouring out, almost speaking a different language. This is challenging stuff. Thank you.
Noel, you are such a gifted musician and your lesson have really been a great challenge for me.. Thanks for all you share 💯
Been looking for good sounding creative ways to practice inversions, this is perfect. Along the same string sets is a great idea. Thanks!
i didn't even know guitar could sound like that. It sounds like piano because of the voicings
Gorgeous stuff. Thank you.
"Cool, right?" Like one of easily top 10, perhaps top 5, best chord progressions I've ever heard. Will definitely learn it
Question: the adding 7th's version, is that you? l
That's a great principle: playing each voicing on the same string set!
WELL DONE, INSIGHTFUL, THANK YOU
Nice, but how about explaining the grips either verbally or with tabs ? Thanks
Hey... here's something that might help. I did a video with these shapes (and in the description are some free pdf's available of the major triad shapes) ua-cam.com/video/Oit-68KsM9w/v-deo.html
Beautiful progression... thanks for the inspiration!
Love how you took a piece of Bach and made it (somewhat) accessible... I still can't do this because I don't have mastery of traids hah. You're really amazing.
At first I thought it was another piece of nonsense. The most beautiful chord progression, yes yes ...
But no, I was wrong. No nonsense, a really remarkable chord progression fished out. Fun, meditative, great.
Thank you
(As an aside: I suspect that Sting has also made use of such things)
Greetings, and please keep up the good work
That’s a shockingly beautiful tone that you’re getting
Wonderful!!!
Wow! Beautiful
Love this! Thx for sharing!!
It is indeed beautiful
Beautiful triads, played so beautifully.
That's amazing 😊
WOOOOOW!!!! Many thanks
Sooo nice Sir 😇😇😇
Yes, this chord progression is fantastic, so beautiful!! 🥰
Thank you Noel.
love it
Extremely interesting but just too advanced for me at this time ! Thank you for sharing !
You've got a very good and unique sound, something towards good classical guitarists.
I had a progression going...
something like Cm7 Bb6 Db7 (and then DbM9/Eb Gm/Eb kind of quickly to get back to Cm7)
...and I thought it sounded alright, but no idea really why. Now I understand, the Db7 is a kind of Neapolitan. Thanks!
yes very nice changes agreed. reminds me of minor swing Am Am Dm Dm E7 E7 Am A7 Dm Dm Am Am Bb7 E7 Am E7
I'd like to see you do a video on Hungarian major (Lydian Dom #9) and it's evil sibling Romanian Major aka Lydian Dom b9, the Brazillian scale (jethe's mode 3?)
They are nice alterations around melodic minor because one has melodic minor b5 and the other has melodic minor #5 and harmonic minor b5.
Hungarian major 1 #2 3 #4 5 6 b7
2 alt bb6 bb7
3 harmonic minor b5
4 alt nat 6
5 melodic minor #5
6 Dorian b2 #4
7 lydian aug #3
Romanian major 1 b2 3 #4 5 6 b7
2 Lydian aug #2 #3
3 locrian nat 2 bb7
4 alt bb6
5 melodic minor b5
6 Dorian b2 b4
7 Lydian aug b3 (lyd dim aug?)
Both parent scales are closely related to the octatonic diminished scale by ommiting one note.
Ooh! That sounds like a party 🎉
I love Hungarian Major! Joseph Schillinger also calls that scale the “Blue” scale. It’s really amazing. I do have a whole spiel ready to go on that one. There’s a Carnatic raga with the same intervals, too.
And, may I ask you about your Telecaster? What pickups does it use? Thanks...
That’s a tele built by Chad Underwood and it has Lollar pickups (A Tele special and a mini humbucker)
@@nohjoh08 Many thanks for the quick response and the info. A rarely beautiful telecaster sound.
Halfway between Mozart and Bach.
Sounds like neapolitan
Is this harmonic minor or something else?
Everything fits A harmonic minor except the Neapolitan chord, but that one fits if you think of the 4m as the new key (D harmonic minor) for just a second. (The D minor acts as a pivot chord).
love your videos, but i swear you always are hugely lacking in volume and i have to turn you up tremendously, so when ads pop up on YT, it shatters me. I don't suppose you could normalize your mastered volumes in future vids?
Also: isn't this progression in Classical Gas?
Sorry about that! How’s my most recent video or two? Any better?
@nohjoh08 so when you give examples in the flippening part 2 video, it's definitely louder than this video, but it's still quite quiet compared to most videos out there. Definitely consider that when you master your next video, and I'll do my due diligence to see how it is and write back. I do want to say that, being extremely excited about all things music theory, the way you've presented your idea is so fresh and interesting that I get newfound giddiness for writing
@@thepagesaretorn ok! Will do and thank you.
goergeous. went and played it right away.
