Question about this video and DCS World> As it's a military simulator, does that mean the flight profile of how the LRASM flew accurate to how it operates? I'm specifically referring to that steep dive down to low level flight.
JSM follows a similar flight profile. To extend its range it first flies high then once its near its target it start to fly low or sea-skim. Otherwise it has less range if it starts to sea-skim right at the start. Im guessing LRASM is the same.
Well, they did so in Lockheed's offical video, so I guess it's what they do. Very clever actually, take their stealth as advantage and dive down at the last second until impact to evade radar
Just think, the B-1 Lancer bomber can carry 24 (yes I did say 24!) of these missiles. Now that makes the Lancer an extremely potent and formidable anti-ship platform.
China does not have something that intelligent, they have mainly high fast radar guided-antiship missiles, that can be intercepted by sophisticated US ship launched SAM missiles like like SM3, SM2 & 6 & ESSM let alone being misguided/deception by ECM NULKA. Take Note China! The Yemeni Houthi have been shooting anti ship and ballistic missiles at Allied ships in the gulf and not one have got through! .........and that said it all - LRASM will get through while Chinese ASM missiles have a good chance of getting intercepted.@@moe109_

The LRASM missiles may be low observable or even stealth but that does not mean they can not be detected by radar or thermal imaging. They will be detected by the advanced AESA radar systems found on those Chinese destroyer vessels, but they will be detected at less of a range possibly somewhere at 35 to 25 kilometers from their target even if they are flying at sea-skimming altitudes like 5 meters. The radar systems on large combat vessels like destroyers are positioned at elevated heights on sensor masts or towers. And a naval radar system on a destroyer positioned at something like 30 meters above sea level on the sensor mast or tower can easily scan horizon 360 degrees against sea skimming missile threats while covering a range of more than 30-35 kilometers. The LRASM may be a stealth missile but they still could be detected from 30 kilometers away by modern naval AESA radars.
And I can not understand why even one of those LRASM missiles fired at Chinese naval vessels could not be intercepted by those vessels' CIWS gattling guns or close in point defense missile systems like Rolling Airframe RAM surface to air missiles. Not even a single one of those LRASM missiles could be destroyed by the Chinese destroyers in the simulation. İs this realistic at all or are there some bugs in the simulation game software? Is LRASM missile fully modeled in the game or is this missile featured in the simulation a community made mod not completely modeled?
Pakis complained Chinese radar on their vessels acquired between 2005-09 so I doubt their actual effectiveness. I feel the actual range for chinses radar to detect Stealth vampires is much shorter.

They drop to a few meters above surface once target is acquired which means even you have AESA it's good luck to detect them in 10 miles.
