I love to stroll, people watch, eat and drink, gamble, then come back to a nice property w a room w a view, a pool, etc. After refresh, just go down to the lobby and begin again. Will stay at the Plaza, downtown. Also let the hotel know you need shuttle from the airport & back give them 72 hr notice, will have better luck on that.

    Can vouch for this hack! Our last trip to Vegas we stayed at the Mirage. Checked in at 11:00 Monday morning. I jokingly asked if we could get an upgraded room with a soaking tub, and maybe a view of the strip. Our concierge came back with a booklet showing us the floor plan of a penthouse suite, usually priced at about $800 per night. He gave us the room for $625 total, and we were there Monday-Friday! I got a 2000 sq ft suite once, was offered again but was staying with my brother (only one king bed), and regularly get upgraded to junior suites. The way I see it is if I go in the middle of the week for the price of a plane ticket and my hotel room for 3 or 4 nights only cost me “$100” then it’s worth the risk, but I like to gamble obviously. Very good advice on this subject. Good attitude goes a long way as well, being aggressive boots the possibility right out. Tips aren’t just for upgrades. They can also waive resort fees, which can amount to $50+ per day and add food credit to your stay. There may not be upgrades available but you can save money by giving money. Also upgrades only work if the hotel isn’t full. So don’t expect an upgrade during holidays. If you get an upgrade during a peak time it means you already had that room assigned to you.

    Shes actually right in this video. Everyone expects a tip these days. You dont need to hide it. Almost every business and even fast food have tip jars everywhere.
    America is the king of tipping culture.

    Front Desk is NOT a tipped position. A 'tipped position' is one where tips are expected and pay reflects that. Think bellhop, bartender, cocktail waitress. Front desk makes more than all of those. Also, the hotel tracks those upgrades. Whether or not you get one is more based on you player club level than anything else.

    But most Vega hotels have kiosks now right? How would the $20 trick work? Last time the $20 trick worked for me was maybe 5 years ago at Treasure Island....got a big room with his/her bathroom, nice view, complimentary room service for a day, and a bottle of champagne.

  • @robertehatten4847
    @robertehatten4847 Рік тому +1

    To me the upgrade is pointless, I just need a clean room with a bathroom. If you use the kiosk
    To check in at Caesars Palace you can get an upgrade for just $10……

    I know $50 bills are a big No-No in Vegas but I had a few and slipped one at the Plaza.She kept it and no upgrade.I did this with another one at The Mirage and Four Queens and The Linq,all with upgrades to a suite.The Mirage gave me a crazy good upgrade.

    i dont necessarily agree an upgrade will be harder to come by on a weekend. Standard rooms are easier to sell. it's pretty common to upgrade guests to open up availability for the easier to sell rooms.

    My husband was a front desk agent at Mandalay Bay. You are much more likely to get an upgrade if you are polite and courteous. If you pass that $20 , but then proceed to be rude and demanding, they have no obligation to upgrade you, especially if there’s a big event going on in town or the hotel. A little kindness goes a long way.

    before it changed I always stayed at the Monte carlo. They would ask if I had stayed there before. Small chit chat...then I would ask if a room upgrade was possible. Never had to flash money to get the upgrade.

    The whole idea of the "$20 trick" is ridiculous. It's not a trick and can. Be done anywhere even outside of Vegas. Tip you restaurant host for a quicker or better table. Tip your housekeeping daily for a little extra care in the room. And yes tip the desk at check in to see if an upgrade is available. But a love all, be nice and don't always expect it to work.

    I'm in my 40s now. I got stationed here in Vegas when I was 21. Palms was on Real World at the time. I got kicked out the Palms because I thought my $50 to the bouncer got me and a few friends in. We got to skip a short line and still had to pay to get in. I flipped out and got booted out. Lost that 50 bucks to the bouncer 😂 Didn't know the game relationships with people who control the doors.

    You need to ask in a minotone voice while looking at the floor:
    "Do you have CREMA?"
    That should do it...
