- In this video I will be disassembling a Volkswagen Tiguan Bi-Xenon Headlight.
The LED units on this light are connected using a ribbon cable. Each LED has a plastic "jewel" lens welded to the plastic frame.
Is there a way to remove the lens with cutting it?
Hello, thanks for the video. I need to clean one of the projectors on mine. Do you remember if projector can be removed from the back without splitting the housing?
if you watch here: ua-cam.com/video/TLNviygbzdA/v-deo.html
you can see there are front facing screws that are not possible to access without removing the headlight lens. The best you can do without disassembling is to try using something flexible and/or long cotton swabs.
Hi I need headlight lens shell for my exact bi xenon headlights, where can I find it? Tiguan 2013 r line 1.4 tsi 160 hp.
VW doesn't sell these, so you can't buy them from a dealership or an auto parts store. Sometimes you can find replacement lenses on those Chinese online shopping sites.
How did You split the lens from lamp housing? Did You just warm up in oven?
I cut it off for the video, but you should be able to bake it or heat up the glue to allow it to separate it
Hi and thanks for the video. Is it possible to replace just the xenon led unit? My 14 leds have stopped working.
VW does not sell any of the internal components individually. You would have to find another headlight, open both up and swap the parts in question. Generally it's easier to find another working headlight and just change the whole unit. It will cost more than finding a working damaged headlight, but you will save hours of work.
@@gftgrill Many thanks for your prompt and helpful reply. I'll start looking for a replacement unit!
Very nice work! Is it a 3inch projector?
Yes, the projector uses a 3 inch lens
5:08 what's name
I want to buy that one
How did you separate lens from housing, did you cut out plastic?
Yes, I cut the lens off for all my videos. it's the fastest way to do it as I do not put them back together when I'm done.
