Every time I open the eos camera to record it always says
Can't initialize your camera. Check connection.
Thank you for this video, I'm buying one of these next week for use in astrophotography & been able to record and observe using my laptop and in AVI format is perfect & not widely advertised by retailers or reviewers. Here is maybe a rubbish question but if using 'bulb' setting, say for a 30 second exposure, can you still see the 'live' image whilst the shutter is open for those 30 seconds? Thanks. John
Corky Cat Hi, for Bulb shutter I don't think you can see the live image. Also I don't use them anymore so I am not sure what the result will be. Now I am using 760D.

Do you know of any downloads for Mac? This one doesn't work for Mac, only windows.
Cannon utilities are currently not supporting Mac, I thought
Can 350d works?
This works fine but I had to run it as an administrator to get it to record. Maybe I missed something in the set up but so long as I run it as admin it works fine. Just right click the icon on the desktop and choose the run as admin tab.

I downloaded the program and recorded a video, but I got an error message when I tried to play the video back, regardless of which video program I used to try and watch it. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?

bc me when I plug it in my computer the screen of the Camera starts flicking and it doesnt work in the software, so if you have a solutions, thank you in advance.

Check your USB cable, Make sure that it is for data sync. not only for charging.

These cameras don't have integrated microphones but you can start recording sound on your phone(for example)at the same time and then just combine them in your video editing software.
Need to record the sound in a separate software I think!

The cam itself does not have a mic so either you buy a wire for the plug thingy and an external mic

followed the instruction but an error appeared. it says Can't create video file. Why is that? 😐😑☹️
Not sure, Try right-click and run program as Administrator or try to choose another path to save the video file.

for those looking for the answer, you'd have to buy a different dslr that has video recording built in. the canon eos 450d doesn't so you can't record videos on the go!

ALY HDY hey I know it's very late but try this. Don't left click the Canon movie record icon. Right click and right at the top select 'run as admin'.
If you don't see that option login as admin, Google how to make an admin windows account.

Make sure that your camera model is compatible, USB Cable is data sync. not a charging cable only, or try th.canon/en/campaign/webcam-utility
