Just found this video, very nostalgic, brought a tear to my eye! I passed out at Swinderby in January 1973. 12 Flight, instructors were Cpl Jack and Sgt Chester. Then onto RAF Cosford for trade training.
Good old Swinderby. Intake 11MP87. No.17 Flight. Passed out end of July 1987. Pissed with rain so ended up in a hangar so no flypast for us. Sgt Hunter and Cpl Rowe. Went to RAF Locking for technician training which was incidentally also the home of the Western Band of the RAF featured in this video. Shame both bases closed now. Thanks for posting.
I passed out October 1976 we had no fly past 😕 no one even came to see me 🤷🏻♂️ I cant believe they put WRAF’s there aaaargh nooooo😔 Basic training was hell but they said to us “ you will look back on this fondly one day and smile” We did and we do, Swinderby what they did to you was disgusting, they destroyed your honour and the memories of all those who served you. 😢 RIP RAF Swinderby from all of us who passed through your gates. Per Ardua Ad Astra to all my brothers. Fills an old guy with pride to see you all! Successive governments in this country continually reduce our armed forces, closing and destroying bases. Soon we will have NO forces left to defend our shores, what then? Do we scare off attackers with harsh language?
I passed out at Swinderby in 1970 - Did ten years and 3 reserve. Should have been 9+3 but it doesn't count until your 18. I am 71 now. My parents didn't bother coming or paying for a photo and I couldn't afford one as I was not on full pay. My mates got 48 quid a week and I got £4. I have nothing to remember it by. Im 71 now. Led to the very best days of my life though I didn't know it then. Went through hell with about a third of the entry dropping out. That's what it was sll about. It was said, if you get through this you can get through anything they throw at you. Bullshit but I loved it. Went on to do 6 years at Little Rissington (SSF) and 4 at Lyneham (AES White Team) . Shout out to anyone who Remembers Kipper
Omg I can’t believe I’m watching this. I was so nervous, you can actually see me start to tick tock. My grandma god rest her was only one of family came too watch. I can see her too who ever post this thanks so much made me smile with a tear. Was only time made her proud I think. Was training as GTM. Messed up Nearly 3 years later got caught with big bad of pot at the Death Star ( mount pleasant). That’s was the end .. such a waste looking back ,trying too be cool.
Passed out in Jan 90. Flt Cdr was F/O Copeland, DIs were Sgt Kelk and Cpl Wilkinson. 17 Flt No 3 Sqn, 05 Dec 89 to 31 Jan 90. Served for 16 years thereafter.

I passed out 18 May 1983 and we had crappy Chipmunks flypast too, joy of AOC's pass out parade
Some got the Lightning !
Passed out September '74, off to Regt. Depot at Catterick in October.
I was marching on that parade ground in the April of that year.....IIRC 43MP88
My pass out parade, was 13flt.
Passed out in 1988. Had the same SNCO here with the big bushy Tash. What was his name?
Sgt Clemence
Bloody excellent drill.
Do forgive my curiosity, but why is number 1 flight commander a WO, as opposed to an officer?
Sorry but I have no idea. Maybe WO's are given the same rights as officers when it comes to parades.
Ah well, thank you anyway.
The Officers were in the Officers Mess and apathy ruled!
I passed out of Swinderby in December 89 last pass out parade of the 80's
