    Holy man that's advanced! My in-laws used a camper shower for their house lol they heated water poured it in and it was like a big ball thing they hung for the kids. Thanks for this video! We're still getting things in order to build behind our inlaws but with 5 little ones we will be without certain things for a while and a well is one but it's on a reservation in Ontario meaning NO ONE has "real" water lines so this helped a TON 😊 I lost both my parents a few years ago and if I'm unsure of certain things I always turn to your channel for guidance. Your channel has helped me and my little big family in so many ways!

      Thanks for the response. I would suggest if you have little kids. Then you should also run a cold water line. So very easy just add a water line splitter after the bump but before line gets to the on demand system . This way one line gets to the on demand and the other stays cold. Then you can have a mixer valve at the shower.

    How do u drain components, when u leave it would freeze...

    • @HomesteadingWays

      Yes, you would have to drain it if you were leaving for an extended period of time and the cabin/house was unheated. As for the rest, maybe this will help. ua-cam.com/video/qpImV0EXXQc/v-deo.html

    I watched your other video and it looks fairly simple. I’m going to be doing the same set up but in Minnesota. How do you run lines to sinks and the shower? Also how do you draw water from your tank?

    • @HomesteadingWays
      @HomesteadingWays  3 роки тому +1

      My husband passed away in a utv accident shortly after this was filmed and I'm sorry that I can't really answer your questions. I do believe he used pvc for the piping to the sinks and shower. There is another video that shows how we draw the water. I'll look for the link.

    • @HomesteadingWays
      @HomesteadingWays  4 роки тому +2

      I can't tell you exactly as my husband passed away shortly after this video was made. But, we had a basic composting toilet set up so no plumbing there. The sinks and shower had pvc piping that lead directly outside/under the cabin. The cabin was/is on a ridge so it all drained downward. We only used environmentally safe soaps so as not to harm the soil.

    How hard is it to clean the metal sides? Is soap scum/algae an issue? Also great video!

    • @HomesteadingWays
      @HomesteadingWays  7 років тому

      Thanks! Algae is definitely not a problem. Soap scum really isn't either as we use only "soft" soaps. It's bar soap that tends to leave a film. As for the cleaning, I use a combo spray of a few drops of dish soap with a quarter cup of vinegar in a 16 oz spray bottle filled with water. I spray and then wipe down with a scrubby sponge. Then I rinse with clean water. Pretty much the same way I cleaned my on grid shower :)

      The drain grate doesn't let most in, but you could put an additional screen. Maybe something like a hair catcher.

    This is not living off the grid. Boiling water for your shower your living off the grid..

    • @HomesteadingWays
      @HomesteadingWays  5 років тому +12

      That's your opinion. The cabin is not hooked up to any outside water source, municipality or well. We bring it in ourselves. If you prefer to boil water and pour it through a shower head then that's your prerogative.

    • @jasonwalker7704
      @jasonwalker7704 5 років тому +13

      Living off grid literally means not being connected to city water and electricity. Any standards past that are romantic notions you've set upon yourself. Want to do something more time consuming and inconvenient? Fine! Just don't bring down others who choose not to. And for what it's worth, there are much better systems than boiling water for a shower, even if you have an aversion to propane or battery use.
