Still gives me goosebumps. Andre Hazes was our best folk singer ever. Will never forget that day. So many artists who paid him their last respects with their songs.
andre hazes. i think there is not 1 soul in the netherlands that never heared of him or his music. even if you didnt like his music or him.. you know who he was and what music he made. very emotional and very fitting farewell to a dutch people legend.
Even MJ had not such a beautiful ceremony. This was really a farewell from the folk for the folk singer who touched our hearts for so many years. I remember this as if it was yesterday. The streets were empty that day. Everyone had the tv on watching this.
In the 1970's I walked on to the Leidseplein [Leiden Square] in Amsterdam when there was a small neighbourhood festival going on. André Hazes was and still is the greatest and biggest Dutch Folks Singer in the Netherlands who sadly past away on Septhember 23 in 2004. His songs was about life, lost loves, broken hearts and more like that. Something we all have experienced in life. Its the way he sings, his voice, the emotion in his numbers is what touch so many people. There was something special in his voice a lot of singers don't have especially in the Netherlands. I was there in the now called Johan Cruijff Arena at that time (its the stadium of the famous Dutch Football Club Ajax Amsterdam), and it was something i never forget my whole life anymore. I never had that much goosebumps in my life anymore since that evening. He is still the only singer in the Netherlands who had a farewell in a full football stadium. This song "She believes in me" (the original was from Kenny Rogers but André Hazes sang it in Dutch) was one of his most emotional songs. His heart was the Blues but he mixed it with the Dutch song of life. Sadly enough André Hazes became deaf and sick and after that it was done. We will always remember him and play his songs and sing along with it...!
This man is our hero. His songs touched every one off us here in the Netherlands. Every song he song whas something out off his life and ous. Andre whas found as a young kid on a marketplace standing on a chest singing. Then he whas found by Hans kraai Jr (famous and also just like Andre a legend). Many more were watching it via live broadcast all throughout the nation, everyone being emotionally present in the moment. After all... you couldn't fit 15+ milion people in one football (soccer) stadium.
@Woesie Woesie That's 5 million TV sets tuned to the funeral. Doesn't say anything about the actually number watching each screen. But yeah, I am sure not everyone was watching but the greater portion of the country for sure.

There has never been an artist or king in the Netherlands who, after passing away, received so many people on the street and in the Arena at a funeral.
Ok, you might likes his music, but just wonder who is " we". I don't like his music and on top of that he was an alcoholic who messed up the life of his wife and children. He wasn't a nice man.

Andre Hazes music means so much for the Dutch people, I think you are Dutch to, you have so many respect and you show your emotions, you are a great guy

When he went out and heard a Andre Hazes song (The kyte) he would sent me a little sound fragment.. (I have a letter for my mother, who's high up in heaven...) There even is a cd of this farewell. Of course we have it.. I still get emotional watching this..
Went to list last concert. As a big fan it shocked me when he died. The day he died I wore an andre hazes t-shirt and played his music out loud at work. The memorial, could't make it. So with a few close friends sitting at home, tv on full volume, beers and tears

Thank you for this! It brings back fond memories. And shivers down the spine. You are amazed by the amount of people present. Well, not needed, but let me add some: In total there was room for 50,000 visitors in the ArenA. The people who couldn't get a seat stood outside the stadium around large screens showing the farewells. The tribute was also broadcast live on TV and Radio. Radio I don't know, but 5.047,000 people watched the broadcast live on TV.
This became an annual event, Heel Holland zingt Hazes. A series of concerts where Dutch artists sing songs from Andre Hazes. This particular song is the dutch version of She Believes in me and was Andre's last hit
You should show the end of this Tribute. André Hazes was our Michael Jackson. You loved him or hated him. Non the less this man connected most of the Netherlands. Again to see this check his departure out of the Amsterdam Arena..
As a Dutchy I never liked Dutch music (or Dutch language music). 1 reason for me to leave The Netherlands. For Andre Hazes I made an exception. His music spoke for itself and we could all relate to it. First time seeing it, I didnt watch it on TV. Thank you for this.
I think every Dutch person has some feelings with one of his songs, I dont know a single person that doesn't lol. And as many artists say: "Hazes is de basis" but I think I probably said that before 🤔😅
There is a whole video of that concert from André Hazes..you must see that sooo beautiful and all the people are got free there you can Go over there for free. The best singer that the netherlands have 🥀🙏🏼🥀
perhaps you remember this song from Kenny Rogers "she believes in me" Andre Hazes wrote dutch lyrics on it and this song became huge for 40 years or so.
I was there and wow that impacted me. From 6 in the morning till i do not even remember what time in the night. Cost me my job because i called in sick and my boss had seen me on the news with the biggest beer ever in my hand. But it was woth it!!!!!
It's funny, i know this song from start to end, but seeing the live version and you reacting to it, it brings a tear to my eyes even though normally i don't get emotional by it anymore. It's because someone who doesn't even know the language can understand the feeling the song brings and feel the mood that the audience is going through. Props my dude, love from the Netherlands
There will be No and i repeat No one else in the Netherlands who will sing better period ! En voor mijn mede landgenoten 😏 nee geen zin in een discussie 🤣👍
He was the greatest singer from the netherlands. Andre Hazes, you have to do a video of him. His funeral was in the Johan Cruijff arena. Back then the name of the stadium was Amsterdam Arena. the home stadium of Ajax Amsterdam the football club. there were 70.000 People in the stadium.
I just came up unto this video and it made me cry again. Haven’t seen this gor many years. Such a shame that the so called widow is showing het bad spots nowadays. The tribute was awesome! Check it him singing on of his songs!
Everyone in Holland whas a freind and a fan of Andre Hazes and we still are . not 1 of the artist can and will compare his self whit Hazes Senior . really no one . haha greets jacco

Thank you for this! It brings back fond memories. And shivers down the spine.
You are amazed by the amount of people present. Well, not needed, but let me add some:
In total there was room for 50,000 visitors in the ArenA.
Still makes me cry. 😢 He was a legend
Almost all dutch people were crying when Andre Hazes sr. was died. A lot of people were watching this at home.
You should show the end of this Tribute. André Hazes was our Michael Jackson. You loved him or hated him. Non the less this man connected most of the Netherlands. Again to see this check his departure out of the Amsterdam Arena..
❤🙏goosebumps!
I still remember watching this live on tv
watched his farewell tribute entirely live on tv back in time
As a Dutchy I never liked Dutch music (or Dutch language music). 1 reason for me to leave The Netherlands. For Andre Hazes I made an exception. His music spoke for itself and we could all relate to it.
First time seeing it, I didnt watch it on TV. Thank you for this.
I love andre hazes he is a hero
What Andre Hazes is to the Dutch, is what Frank Sinatra to the Americans.
I think every Dutch person has some feelings with one of his songs, I dont know a single person that doesn't lol. And as many artists say: "Hazes is de basis" but I think I probably said that before 🤔😅
It was very emotional!
Andre hazes makes more then 130 albums in his career and still now its the most populair singer in holland everybody no the lyrics from poor to rich
Your reaction is always so precious🙏🏻👍🏻 !! Love your channel ( obviously I am Dutch)
There will be No and i repeat No one else in the Netherlands who will sing better period !
En voor mijn mede landgenoten 😏 nee geen zin in een discussie 🤣👍
😀👍
He sang beautiful folksongs in Dutch but he had a voice when he was in good condition could sing everything. 🥰
We watched it live on tv , we where crying the whole ceremony.
Xander did a great job with this song.
His son Andre Hazes jr. is a singers now.
And his daughter also made some music. Check them out.
And the woman at 7:16 was andre hazes sr .his wife..
This is just 1 song from a 2hours 40 minutes farewell concert... named "Andre Thank you" funeral
We miss you Andre 💖
58000 people in the stadium + the people in the field! largest funeral in Dutch history!
Even now…. Tears!!!😢😢😢
Everyone in Holland whas a freind and a fan of Andre Hazes and we still are . not 1 of the artist can and will compare his self whit Hazes Senior . really no one . haha greets jacco
I was there….very emotional
3:40 Marco Borsato, a singer you reacted to 5 days ago.
I don’t think Xander was close to Andre but respected him as an entertainer.
7:20 the wife of Andre, not the most sympathetic woman. 😏
Why saying negative things about his wife. Not necessary and not nice...
The woman who performes the hilarious japanese Ushi is also in the crowd 2:59 where you made an episode with Donny Osmond. So famous was Andre Hazes.
I was there, it was amazing.
i never forget this night ,i was in phuket (thailand) when andre hazes died,i wanna go there to but it was not possible
ANDRE HAZES THE BEST............
I was here in the arena at that moment 💪🏻
Love your reaction on this video where mostly only dutch people react to, thanks.
Andre hazes wat ‘n ander ook zegt. Do it! I hope you can find it with subtitles. It became my life motto
