Definitely interested in your jeep setup
The jeep vid is almost finished. Will be out next week. 73, de KM4ACK
Thanks for the tip with the cable. Now I’m looking for an APRS program for the Raspberry Pi.
can you show the settings in the connection, Audio???
It sounds like you're doing exactly what I want to do when in the woods. Can you please explain how the radio in the truck works in conjunction with your handheld radio? Thanks.
I have a yaesu 857d in the jeep connected to a raspberry pi. the pi is running a digipeater. ua-cam.com/video/YqTpyPLtjUA/v-deo.html When the handheld/phone beacons, it is heard by the jeep radio/pi and digipeated. Think of the jeep as having a repeater in it. The jeep radio is able to connect to a wide area digi that is connected to the internet and will gate my traffic. Thanks for watching. de KM4ACK
@@KM4ACK Will this work in a situation where there is no cell service at the jeep? I am thinking no, correct? Because the Pi needs internet to function? Thanks
On a UV-5R if you press and hold down the # key on the bottom right for a couple seconds it locks/unlocks the keypad.
I noticed you skipped over the most important setting which is the connection preference. This should be set to Audio.
Thanks for the heads up. 73, de

congratulations it was cool
I'm building one to do a py1jp test
Great video, I have a question which band should we use for transmitting wide band or narrow band ?
Wide, when using narrow it sometimes dont pickup all the packages
the cable is not visible.
After the data blast, the mic remains keyed for several seconds on the uv-5r, does this happen on the TYT radios as well as the Baofengs? Thanks for your video.
Yeah, hangs for 1 second on my TH-UV88.
Jason, could the TUT 8600 be setup as a repeater? In the docs it says full duplex and cross and repeater. Don
Tyt 8600
Any ideas on connectors for the iphone(lightening cable) Ive tried to make this work with the 3.5mm to lightening adapter but either they just dont work or I had a 2pack bad out of the box
i have only used android for this. never tried iphone.
@@KM4ACK Thanx for gettin back to me, hopefully some different cables will work, or maybe someone in the comments has a solution for an iphone
Jason what is the connector on the end of the amazon cable to get into the micro usb on phone? Don
I didn't feed it into the micro USB. The phone in the video has a headphone jack. With newer phones I suspect you could use a dongle designed to give you a headphone port from the USB port.
Ok so trrs connector for mic and audio. Thanks
Great video, very helpful. Can you give me the settings for Chirp? Thank you. Ernest Bazzinotti KC1LKB

@@KM4ACK Awesome. Keep the content coming. I still learning and looking forward to more of your videos.
When I press send position, nothing happens. GPS is on and working. When I press start tracking, it sends a message. ...any ideas?
Try pressing "start tracking" and then "send position" I have noticed that sometimes there is a delay between pressing the button and the radio transmitting. I think this may be due to the GPS signal being week. I experience this more indoors than when outdoors. Thanks for watching. de KM4ACK
I just noticed that it only sends the position when it is not tracking. How did you enter a long path? It only allows wide1-1 or wide2-2.
How much data does this use with the cellphone?
None. In fact the phone doesn’t even need a SIM card. This just uses GPS data from the phone and the app.
@@KM4ACK AWESOME! Thanks for all the help. As a new Ham this information really helps me out!
