    Your handstand is still a slight a banana handstand, because you have a weak shoulder mobility. In addition to the Hollow Body Position you failed to describe correctly, your shoulders must turn inwards so that your spine and your whole body is in a perfect line. Besides 25s, this is nothing. You should be able to hold them for minutes.

      Actually an EXTERNAL shoulder rotation is required.

      he is a newbeginner and gave pretty good tips though, but yeah i think he should wait to be more advanced in handstand before doing this video, he forgot to show how to bail out which is important at beginner level, also he is not elevating his shoulder blades

    The most limiting factor preventing a proper HS (and the main reason for Banana HS) is shoulder mobility. Secondly, is anterior pelvic tilt. The pelvis need to be posteriorly tilted. If U can't lift your arms, elbows locked out, without arching your back, until your arms are in line with your ears... U will never have a straight HS.

    Nice! I can easily get into a handstand by "kicking" up into it, like gymnasts do, and hold it straight (no banana!) for over 30 seconds. Any tips to get stronger for the bent arm press to HS? Every time I try to lift my hips over my hands, like at 3:50, I just collapse... Salute from The Netherlands!

      I'm also working on my handstands, last time I tried to to a press handstand (with bent legs) and did it, not perfectly but I managed to get my legs into the full handstand. I couldn't do this when I was focusing on my legs, so the time that it worked for me I totally focused on the center of my back - I just leaned forward and focused on the center of my back, to get it balanced and strong, and then somehow I just bent my legs into my chest and finally get them up into the air - try it :D Greetings from Poland!

    i belive the banana handstand comes from bad thorasic spine mobility which dosent allow the shoulders to be 180 degrees

    If you're using the wall to practice, should you be straight parallel to the wall? By that I mean, do you want to start out with your hands further away from the wall, or with your hands RIGHT NEXT TO IT before you go up?

    The banana has nothing to do with core strength. It's just harder to balance when you're completely straight. It's also hard to tell if you're straight if you can't see yourself.

    • @OfficialBarstarzz

      1) Activate your core. Make a conscious note to contract your muscles in your abs, butt, lower back.
      2) Keep your fingers creased so you are able to control your positioning once you are in a handstand.
      3) Use a wall or a friend to help correct your posture.
      4) Have confidence. You have to believe you are able to do it. Activate your mind

    The high amount of pushups you do are actually killing your overhead shoulder mobility and it shows on your handstand, a lot. This will be true to every high volume single plane or high intensity horizontal movement that you do with your upper limbs, basically.

    • @Asadc1995
      @Asadc1995 2 роки тому

      The thing he said with the banana and lack of core engagement is not really from the actual core pelvic muscles itself its in most people cases it was even with me. A lack of shoulder flexion elevation mobility causing the lack of core engagement also known as posterior pelvic tilt

    The banana arch is more natural and not a sign of core weekness. A straight handstand just looks nicer but when you walk with the handstand your back bends regardless.

    • @ooooa9046
      @ooooa9046 7 років тому

      ultimatejb7 false information. The "banana", whether holding and/or walking, is compensation for core weakeness/activation. I and many others can walk in a straight body.

    • @ultimatejb7
      @ultimatejb7 7 років тому

      Oooo A false information??? Have you ever been to a circus or even watched a gymnastic competition???? Both gymnast and circus acrobats utilize the curved handstand for better control and versatility. In my opinion both forms of handstand have advantages and disadvantages maybe stop sticking to one form in order to open your mind to others.

    • @ooooa9046
      @ooooa9046 7 років тому

      ultimatejb7 yes , I've been to several cirque de soleil shows and trained with gymnasts. No, they don't "utilize a curved back" what you see is called a hollow body handstand or a form of hollow body, not a banana or curved back. I agree with having a variety in handstand, but no variety should have a banana/curved back. There is a big different in a proper hollow body handstand and a banana back. Train however you want, you're only lying to yourself.

    • @ooooa9046
      @ooooa9046 7 років тому

      ultimatejb7 I don't know what Olympic gymnasts your watching , but no Olympic gymnastics perform a handstand with curved/banana back. In fact, the judges will deduct points for this bad form. Instead of the calisthenic community getting so upset when they are faced with constructive critics , they should reflect and apply new knowledge that they haven't applied thus far.

    • @ultimatejb7
      @ultimatejb7 7 років тому

      Oooo A I'm not upset merely applying information that I have been learning from other things and other people. Not saying the curved back is the only way but it's a different form. For you implying that I take offense to constructive criticism is pretty ignorant in on itself. In addition I do not represent the calisthenics community as a whole I'm more into other forms of training and do not limit myself to only calisthenics. Thank you for your input and have a nice day my friend.
