Probably the only mistake Ichiro ever made.
LOL . . . I watched this and thought EXACTLY the same thing! And yours was the first comment that came up.
Aside from playing in only 2 postseasons his entire MLB career
If you play 162 games a year something is going to come up. He's a very good player on average teams.
How is puig on the last one “committing to second” when he never turn or even looks like he’s going to second? To me there’s no intent there and he shouldn’t be out. Thoughts? 🧐
He actually went outside the baseline, no motion toward second... He's safe.
He’s safe there
Baseline has nothing to do with it. That slamming on the brakes and tiny move towards second made him an active baserunner and is available to be tagged.
do plays that saved a perfect game
or saves a shutout
or a no hitter
Or errors that wrecked a perfect game.
Cough Hanley Ramirez cough.
Jonathan Robinson a no hitter is a perfect game...

You must be new to baseball.
How exciting that must be for you.
You've got some good clips here, but I want to see replays of some of these. Oh, and the last one you cut off before the play was actually done. Poor editing.
Why do you guys always cut these clips so short? Sometimes it's difficult to tell what's going on here and the commentator is just about to explain and then you cut to the next clip. :(
We're fine with an extra minute or two, give us the full play.
Well now you can add Tyler Wade's abysmal baserunning tonight in extras against the Mets here. Easily the worst base running I have ever seen way worse than anything on here.
I've tried, but I can't find that play online anywhere.
Martin Gardner in extra innings, since a runner starts on second it was a liner that comforting caught and threw him out
Conforto
This should be updated to include Braves in 2020 NLCS. It was painful to watch.
A few of these are great reads by the feilders.
That’s probably the one mistake ichro made in his entire career.
6:38 As soon as the ball was thrown to second, the runner on 3rd should’ve immediately ran to home. That was a bad judgement call on the base runner since 1. He didn’t look at the 1st Base coach or even listen to his 3rd, and 2. He sat and waited until the shortstop was already over the halfway point between 2nd and 3rd
Yup
That last one Puig never moved towards second base
Never touched first either lol
Ita still bad, but at 5:15 you can see the ump call safe due to interference. Burns was still out at 2nd
When you realize you've made the worst base running reel.
2:08 now THAT is the worst baserunning in the history of the game.
3:40 And that was the worst base-running IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME!!!
the video cuts off one of the absolute worst plays in the history of baseball (rivera of the Giants) but then goes right into the Rockies debacle which actually turns into a decent something-from-nothing play by Blackmon, allowing the Rockies to keep runners at 2nd and 3rd
First Time here, I Loved it, And, onboard!!! Good Stuff!!!
Always fun to watch blunders that they should know better.
Do best plays from each position (ie: pt1-first etc)
I wanna see this
1:55 speechless...
This is the only drawback to being baserunner, and it's alleviated if you know what the situation is and listen to your base coaches.
5:57
Controller disconnected
Gregorius falling is not worst base running lol
In situations like at 6:45, why doesn't the runner hung up sacrifice himself, so that they will have the lead runner still on 3rd?
you cut these bad give each one more time
Ben gamel was horrible on the base paths as a mariner
This should just be a video of the jays this year
I bet some people click on the notification hit the dislike button and leave
Can someone tell me the name of the commentator at 0:50? Iconic voice but never can remember his name
Unorthodox, but effective indeed
1:52-2:07 If I'm not mistaken don't they have to tag him at third for him to be out. Because it was a steal not a force out.
@flyhound97 ok thanks. I was confused
If they wanted to, they could appeal by bringing the ball to the runner and tagging him, since he hasn't got to his current base legally.
That has perhaps never been the choice by a defense when a ball needs to be put back into play at the mound, though.
@@daveh1758 that’s what I was thinking but I have seen the force one a lot
@@adigaming1261 Eliminate the concept of force vs non-force... it's simply a missed base, which is handled the same way in either circumstance, with two options.
1. Get the ball to the missed base. Step on it. Tell the umpire, "That guy missed this base."
2. Get the ball to the runner. Tag him. Tell the umpire, " This runner missed that base."
Option #2 is never chosen. Theoretically, the runner could take off running as you approach; it's a much simpler process dealing with a stationary bag.
5:53 Worst ever.
Fr, he literally just stopped running for no reason
Seriously cut off the last play
finally a title that makes sense
Guy in the first clip is terrible smh how did he even make it to the mlb making mistakes like that
I'm assuming your joking lol
Are you actually serious?
@Bryson Kuhn watch him be like " of course I knew you idiots" lol
@@Averyaveragedeskin lol
@@Averyaveragedeskin yeah this is hilarious, how would you watch enough Baseball to understand the rules and not know who Ichiro is?
Don't cut the clip off so fast.
Do a vid of the nastiest pitches in baseball being smacked
But its not nasty if they smack it. . .
@@yessir2873 Wrong it can be a knuckle ball looking like it’s going in the other box and go right in so i suggest you should be able to know that
3:54
can someone explain to me how this is bad baserunning? besides obviously getting caught up at third
It wasn’t bad baserunning. I think the guy who makes these videos doesn’t know much about baseball so
@@goocarter7116 He also sucks and editing the clips.
01:58 his foot actually does touch the side of the bag
You can't really tell
If the Ichiro call is good by the rule then it's a bad rule. What route he takes TO THE NEXT BAG should be irrelevant as long as he doesn't exceed the 3' stipulation TO AVOID being put out by a fielder. Since no play on his person was being made that stipulation doesn't apply. That rule is like the rule stipulating that at least one umpire per game be blind or biased, calling the game like he has money riding.
It is a very good rule. Rules exist to prevent exploits. There's no reason baserunners should be allowed to take shortcuts between the bases after they chose to retreat. The reason you're allowed to go anywhere as long as a play is not being made on you is that in the end you're just making it a longer route to the next base. But you can't just touch second and then have a free pass to run to third from anywhere on the field without touching second again once you've abandoned the bag. What if Ichiro touched second like the clip then ran back towards first and then just cut across the pitcher's mound directly from first to third? According to your version of the rules that would be allowed because he could argue that he can run to third any way he wants to after he touched second, even though in reality he was going to first and then changed his mind and went towards third which is exactly what happened in this play. Ichiro was retreating to the previous base by returning towards first so third was not the NEXT BASE anymore.
All he needed to do was take the one step back up to the base and he would have easily been safe at third. It's basic fundamentals of baseball that little leaguers understand. It's hard when you're standing at the base with your head up trying to read a flyball like Ichiro was, so it's an understandable mistake by a great player. There's a reason it's a rare play to see because it's not hard for the runners to touch the bases in order and not take shortcuts through the infield unless it's the rare case they're standing on top of the base and mess up their footwork which is unfortunate but their fault. There's no reason to change the rule because it's not hard to touch the bases in order and not undercut them and it rarely ever happens and could lead to silly exploits.
@@linollieum3742 What if Ichiro touched second like the clip then ran back towards first and then just cut across the pitcher's mound directly from first to third?
He'd be out of the 3' base path. He's out. There is already a rule for that.
7.10b is what people are going for here:
With the ball in play, while advancing or returning to a base, he fails to touch each
base in order before he, or a missed base, is tagged.
He attempted to return to 1st and didn't tag 2nd when attempting to advance towards 3rd.
Seems pretty obvious to me.
@@tannerhall588 You cannot call a runner out for being out of the 3'base path if he cuts across the diamond. A runner may run wherever he wishes because there is no base path the runner must be in unless a tag is being attempted.
@@alanhess9306 Exactly, as long as he follows the bases in order which is why he could cut across the diamond theoretically because the runner gains no shortcut or anything, he just would be making his path around the bases even longer as he would still have to go to the next base anyways.
Puig might have the lowest IQ of anybody in sports. I don't just mean baseball IQ. I mean IQ period.
tyler wade mistake on basepath
Jays 2020 season could make a whole video
Crappy editing as usual.
