Brings back memories. I was a Class 2b, which meant compulsory and optional routines. Optional routines started at Class 3. If you were an "a" you only did compulsory routines. If you were a "b" you did both. It was much different back then, but now I'm telling my age. :-)

Thank you for your comments about Simone. She took such hate for what happened to her. I camt imagine what she went through, how frightening that was, and how the sexual abuse and her being the only gymnast still competing who testified etc. No wonder she got the twisties! It was very interesting to hear how it was "back stage" it must have been difficult for all involved.

He’s even more clueless than we thought. “They finally told us” Jade couldn’t be on the team. OK Bela. Who’s “they”? Jade could have been named to the team by the FIG/OC rules. He can’t remember the AA placements at trials? He didn’t know the procedure for replacing an athlete on the start list at the Olympic team final?! Incompetence all around.
Teresa was recognized at the Olympic trials in 2016 . The alternates were invited. Finishing 6that trials and Tom both KNEW that Shannon and Dominique 's scores would carry over so she needed to finish 5th to be on the team but thankfully she fell because Amanda was a better gymnast and deserved to be there. The bitterness against Shannon but USAG, Tom, and other gymnasts because they are jealous at her success is so strange.

Shannon won Nationals, Moceanu was third. Moceanu allegedly had a stress fracture that disappeared once she got the Olympic spot. Both of them competed at Nationals and pulled out of Trials. Shannon had a pulled hamstring and a couple of other injuries and later Peggy stated that Shannon had a broken wrist. So no, it wasn't a case of one did one and one did the other. both did Nationals, and petitioned for trials but only one of them (Shannon) pulled put of meets after the Olympics and had a real injury. Moceanu's was an excuse because they were mad Shannon was actually injured.
We had so much fun shooting this episode, and we had to edit out a couple of really cool stories! Like the time Tim told Marta: “I quit!” And walked out and flew home!!
