Great suggestion! I have seen this option in the past while browsing my settings and have used all those button options for other personal choices like muting and unmuting the volume. It's nice to have built-in options on buttons and someone like YOU to remind us it is there to modify as we please. Hope you have a pleasant Easter and a chocolate bunny or two.

Good video :) but this does not actually force close the apps. If you go into the Background Apps and Process list app, you can see all the apps that would still be running in the background
Apps can be designed to fool you by saying your most used apps are still open.
Remember that millions of people worldwide spend money on apps.
If the app tells you your apps are closed then it's useless.

Two things: 1) it's almost as easy just to close each one individually in the tray; 2) does that actually close them down? I don't think it does because when you then go on to DefSquid, they are still live and need to be force stopped.
No it doesn't actually close down all back ground apps.
You're correct they all need to be forced closed manually with and app like Background Apps & Process list or something similar.

@@mycolbartlett764 Yeah. Lots of pointless advice around. Things need to be tested beforehand I think. But the app I suggested will close down all app properly. It's basically giving you a list of all app that are running in the back ground and force closing them shut them down completely. Give it ago. When I first tried the app I had over 20 app running. Some I didn't even open or were using.

This is nice but it still doesn't solve the problem of apps running in the background after I follow this method I open up defsquid and still have to force close all open apps we need a way to kill all apps instantly and that means force stop not just close
I'm using the ONN brand Android tv box 4k. Is there anyway I can do something similar for closing all apps at once on this box ?

One app always stays running in the background no matter what. No matter how long you hold it down for or how many times there is always one app still running in the background. Anyone else have the same issue?

I have the 2017 Nvidia shield and the remote does have a menu button. Not sure if I can use this customize feature.
Hi, just a point, I run VPN and Blokade and these Apps run in the background. After clearing the Running Apps, restart your VPN and in my case Blokade to stay covered.. Thanks again
What if you don't have those buttons on your remote? My 2017 shield doesn't have context key?

I know it is not right place to post but with the nvidia upgrade 9.0.2 mouse toggle is working i do not know if will do move up and down page but moving and clicking the apps and whit in the app mouse toggle works... At least for me :)
Just accidentally found out that the shield has an app drawer also. I am praying closing apps fully will stop the random black screens with audio I was getting.

I tested it.. but it doesn't actually close them, it just remove them from the "recent list"... you can run background apps and you can see them still running.

Isn't it easier just to buy an Android box? Dealing with all these storage issues on a fire stick is a pain in the ass. Plus I can't record my TV shows using a fire stick. I record two shows, and the fire stick says close apps not enough storage. Never had these problems on my Android boxes.

Unfortunately it doesn't really close down "all" background application. The button mapping feature is great but you need to use the "Background Apps & Process lits” APK to truly close down all back ground apps. This has been tested and proven results confirm this. Great tip though if it actually did close all background apps. 👍
Yes i noticed that myself after my shield was slowing down and i checked Background Apps & Process lists i had lots of things still running and when i closed them all my device was fine
Doesn't actually work, they still are running in the background. To check just go to settings ----> apps ----> choose app ----> force close is still an option which shows it's still running in the background

Sure it makes them disappear but it does NOT force close them as some have previously stated in the comments. Try it again but first, use your very own App Killer to see how many apps are open/running & then press and hold the burger menu button. Now check your App Killer again and it will show you it did nothing. Please take this video down as it just doesn't work. I like your video's, you've helped me alot, but this one is just click bait if I'm honest.
