Rosenthal is actually the best neighbourhood. I have ever lived in Edmonton from late2020 to mid 2022 and im telling you it's worth it living near west Edmonton mall! :D
Fun fact, there are pothole crews working 365 days a year filling them and you should use the report a pothole tool, they have to be filled within 14 days of being reported! Best part, if the city knows about a pothole and your car gets damaged, you can get compensation.
Then why is Edmonton with so many potholes? Is it due to some unusual geologic characteristics? I figured Alberta provincial government is relatively rich compared with other parts of Canada that wouldn't be a problem theoretically
A few more pros and cons: - The city bylaw; shoveling snow and clearing ice and snow from your driveway during winter months. - You need a good and reliable 4 X 4 or all-wheel drive car/truck to drive safely on icy/snowy roads. - You need a set of snow tires with STUDS - You always need to carry your hot coffee mug anywhere you go - Windshield cracks are very common - You may mentally get exhausted, once or twice a year during winter months, sun destinations are a MUST.
For the most part, Edmonton has very little density in mature and established neighborhoods. If you are willing to do a big Reno, you can get a pretty sweet deal. Lots of interest in South central Edmonton around Duggan, Rideau Park, Greenfield etc. Nice big lots with lots of greenspace and easy access to the henday, Whitemud & Calgary trail.

The area around NAIT is Kingsway. The whole neighborhood is infested with cockroaches, mice and there are syringes in the grass. It's overpriced too. NAIT is a wonderful school however. Besides that, I didn't live in Edmonton for too long.
The LRT goes to both NAIT and McEwan. You can rent anywhere near the LRT stations to reach the campus. As long as you don't go outside alone at late night, it's safe.

Moving to Edmonton in a few weeks and haven't picked out a place yet. Looked on Kijiji for a basement suite and found a place in Windermere for 900 a month and 30% utilities. I am not committed to it but I'm leaning on it. 32 male single and Fort McMurray commuter. Coming from living in Yellowknife NorthWest Territories for 13 years so I'm pretty excited to say the least. Some people have hate for this city, but it allll depends where you come from, because there is a lot worse. My rotation is 2 weeks in Fort Mac then I get 1 week off to come back to Edmonton and then it repeats. Feel free to say hi to me on here, I don't know anybody in Edmonton or much about the place but it's way better than where I am from.
@@tashaabashaa I moved to Edmonton to work in the oil patch in 2015. I left in 2019 because work was sparse and the cost of living is ridiculously high. I know there's an uptick in the oil and gas sector. However, I am not coming back because the industry treats its workers like disposable labor. More specifically, everyone is expected to work out of town for 24 days on, 4 days off, 12 hours per day. You are paid hourly. So don't expect to earn any money during slow months. And if you don't get along with your boss, you're immediately swapped out with someone else. So I moved to France. I was utterly shocked at how easy it is to find a good job and the cost of living is so much lower. Other perks include: climate, food, smaller distances between cities & landmarks, there's just more to do, more paid vacation days, and the working conditions put Canada to shame.
It depends on where you go. Downtown is quite dangerous late at night. The south side to the river is safer. Don't go outside alone at night. You will be safe.
The houses in downtown area are basically big no no for investment. The neighborhoods near the river and University of Alberta are hot areas for investment.
Edmontons good but the sketchy people aren't, you'll run into a few of them here and there and the LRT and busses are kind of ghetto, there's gang violence but other than that it's a great place to live
Nice city to visit but I wouldn’t live there, because the weather will wear me out and the economy isn’t that great. I would settle for Toronto or Vancouver or Ottawa.
Lolol this dude made that city look amazing dont get me wrong it has some beautiful spots. But. But... be truthful 100% edmonton night life is boring when compared to other major cities.the down town core can be very sketchy. Chinatown is horrible and nasty looking. They recently got the new arena that somewhat helped the revitalized the city. The architecture is very boring and dated.they always cheap out on the design for example . The new public library lol..that winter gets low as -40 with some nasty wins that cracks car windshield from those sand pepples on the roads .Photo radar everywhere. You can barely enjoy the summer with all those mosquitoes chewing at you.the festivals are generic and always the same shit every year. I live and work there for 6 years and move back to Toronto by the way so I know what I'm talking about.
This video is comical. Ski hills are tiny just for kids and mountains are 4+ hours away in winter. Festival city means there are 2-3 tired festivals every summer, but if you are in Vancouver metro you will find many many events every weekend across the lower mainland. Friendly atmosphere is not what I found. The locals keep to their local friends, and many others are transient workers or just there temporarily for school. Very few not from Edmonton actually stay there unless they are trapped due to work or school. Job market is terrible compared to Vancouver or Toronto.
I'm so sorry for Canada. Most things about a good Canada are not true, Including clean cities - beaches, and forests. It's a big lie. The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherlands, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. Canadian and Canada Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see this in Europe, Australia, the United States, Japan, and Korea. This amount of waste is not even seen in Malaysian, Indonesian, or Thailand cities. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beaches in Canada. I wish the Canadians woke up and had no enmity with their country.
Jesus Christ. Culture isn't only how clean or unclean the streets are. We have a very strong and vibrant culture. Honestly? That's almost racist tbh. "Not even seen in Maylasian and Thailand (thai) cities" I almost have a hard time believing you did all this travel tbh. We have more northern forest that just about any country in the world btw and one of the lesser population density as well with a lot of small towns. Yes we have a garbage problem, but man! It's definitely not even CLOSE to be that bad. Seriously, you sound almost delusional tbh
@@jas_bataille, I just say cleaning garbage on the streets, roads, woods, and parks is a big problem in this country. it seems nobody cares about that. neither government nor citizens. you can not see any place in a city without garbage. it is impossible you don't see a piece of trash in less than 200 meters on every sidewalk. this ugly scene is the same in a big city or small town but in other western countries may be seen just in limited places. you never see in Australia, Newzealand, Japan, or North European country. it should have some cultural reason in Canada. I don't like to be unfair, I only try to help in my share. the truth is bitter especially when it becomes an everyday issue. these are regardless of homelessness, roads with awful asphalt, broken sidewalks, nasty houses, drugs, increase crimes and a lot of addicts in every place.
Canada has gotten worse since Trudeau. 8 years of the guy and people are apathetic about how polite we are supposed to be & angry about how our PM is shi++ing on us.
Lol come on its safe but isn't a very fun place to stay in my opinion you will get bored pretty quickly so...I would suggest moving to Calgary. Its overall the better city.
You haven't travel to other cities in Canada traffic in Edmonton is nothing it's one of the reasons I moved to Edmonton 15 years a go you didn't mention all the homeless people or the drug problem you're way off the mark when it comes to the snow in Edmonton compared to Montreal I have lived in both cities Edmonton gets way more snow in the West Edmonton mall is not the largest mall in North the mall of America in Minneapolis is much bigger it's not hard to fact check anything that you say do your homework before you lie
Edmonton is polluted and surrounded by industrial plants and "refinery row". It's grey, ugly, and downtown is dead and crime ridden. Compare it to Vancouver and there's no comparison. River valley is filled with homeless people and mosquitoes in the summer for about two months, and very dry. If you like rainforests or lush vegetation you won't find it in Edmonton. The dry air is bad for your lungs and skin.
HAHAHA You mention potholes but not one on the road you traveled... thn you SHOWED THE LRT line as construction... Scratches head..
Good info bro, thanks
Hello I’m from Toronto and plan on moving boy Edmonton I would like to know if the west is best for renting or where do you suggest

Do you have fresh food in Winter time?
Yes
What is the location of the bad area that you were standing in, in the video?
That is Hope Pharmacy in Chinatown, right down town. If want a real scare go 10 blocks north to 118th ave.

I'm kind of curious how they define a 'sunny day', to say that only 40 days of the year aren't sunny sounds very wrong.
Cloud levels, one of the few bonuses of low moisture levels and high winds is less clouds
Edmonton is insanely sunny. Wearing sunglasses in the summer and winter. The glare off the snow is very blinding.
Wow i come February from Ethiopia
hello Sir next month I'm working in Edmonton alberta
It’s way better than Montreal, you don’t have to face discrimination for speaking English, you’ll have the right to study in English, the affordability, your children can study in English, I would like to move to Edmonton
I'm planning to move from the UK, would love to know how your experience goes
@@tashaabashaa BUT WHY!?
@@user-xg6zz8qs3q why not? 😂😂
@@user-xg6zz8qs3q That sounds a lot like London 😭
edmonton is really nice.

For some reason I want to test myself with the winters and I love walking :)
What do you think about the Parkdale area?
He says clean green but Im over here like "are you sure? it looks pretty white, not green"
How far is Edmonton from any mountain ranges?
4 hrs to Jasper
Moving there next month from Qc.
Compared to Kelowna, Edmonton real estate looks amazing.
Is the crime level that high? I thought that wasn't so bad.. I'm a little worried now
It depends on where you go. Downtown is quite dangerous late at night. The south side to the river is safer. Don't go outside alone at night. You will be safe.
I love both cities👍
Main problem of Edmoton without a doubt is pooor infrastructure or very old, and HOMELESS people. Other than that, its perfect.
What is the difference between Calgary & Edmonton?
one is south one is north both barren waste land
This guy reminds of Bill and Teds excellent adventures except it's in Edmonton.

It's like Detroit minus the auto industry or historical importance.
Nice city to visit but I wouldn’t live there, because the weather will wear me out and the economy isn’t that great. I would settle for Toronto or Vancouver or Ottawa.
Ottawa is pretty cold
I agree with you completely! The oil recession hit me so hard that I had to move to Paris France for work. Oh well 🤷
This video is comical.
Also no ocean and nowhere near a mountain. The local university is one of the worst and one one knows about it outside of Alberta.
I just moved in edmonton! I have a small UA-cam channel 😁

"Not even seen in Maylasian and Thailand (thai) cities"
I almost have a hard time believing you did all this travel tbh.
Do they have chemtrails there?
Is this a safe place for black people? Is the community inclusive?
YESSSSS. 10000% the array of ethnic cultures is incredible here. There’s thousands & thousands of black people in Edmonton!
Rocky Balboa?
Ok young Rocky Balboa I’ll take your devises
Edmonton is polluted and surrounded by industrial plants and "refinery row". It's grey, ugly, and downtown is dead and crime ridden. Compare it to Vancouver and there's no comparison. River valley is filled with homeless people and mosquitoes in the summer for about two months, and very dry. If you like rainforests or lush vegetation you won't find it in Edmonton. The dry air is bad for your lungs and skin.
Love the cons then ;b back home is worse 🙃

HAHAHA You mention potholes but not one on the road you traveled... thn you SHOWED THE LRT line as construction... Scratches head.. I lived in edmonton for decades and there is always Construction due to EXPANSIONS mainly on improving highways as city keeps growing. Crime is mainly 100-114st area STAY OFF 107st and 118th ave area
The crime IS ON THE LRT.
