  • My 3rd son bought his first pickup before he even had his drivers’ permit. His first inclination was to fully embrace the “grandpa vibe” it already had PLUS he really wanted letting that resembled a shop truck or tow/service truck.
    The tongue-in-cheek famous phone number and mythical shop name are all part of the fun & were completely my son’s idea. (Think Tommy Tutone circa 1981)
    In this video I’ll show you the entire process from design idea to completion that lettering this old pickup involves. I like to use traditional techniques and I’m learning as I go (I’m far from mastery so take it with a grain of salt! 😉)
    I use Alpha6 Enamel paints & chemicals. You’ll find them at alpha6corporat...
    Give them a follow on Instagram @alpha6paint
    My favorite brushes are by Mack Brushes and you’ll find them at www.mackbrush....
    In this project I chose the Mr. Oz Signature series brushes. mrozdesigns.com/ go give him a follow on Instagram for inspiration, art, supplies, and awesome brushes @mrozdesigns

    Nice work! Looks good without scuffing the existing paint finish! What about adding the drop shadow before you outline, so you don't have to touch up your outline?

    the edges also need to be tamed down so they aren't so sharp and crisp, .0000 steel wool works great for doing that.

    Just going to mention that before painting the area should be scuffed and cleaned. Awesome job though!

    why do some people prefer to reduce with mineral spirts vs reducer? Does it make a difference in the longevity or finish?

    • @themotofirm
      @themotofirm Рік тому

      Reducer will do better on anything outdoors, mineral spirits also takes much longer to dry.
