I definitely see the annoyance with ben, but i feel like he’s the most realistic character. Before the apocalypse he was a 16 year old high schooler, probably relying on his parents for protection. So when his parents and people he cared about died he had to rely on himself which he never actually learned how to do. He wasn’t like clem that was taught to survive from a young age. Then all of a sudden he has loads of responsibility pushed on to him, he’s bound to make mistakes and unfortunately those mistakes lead to people dying. It’s unfortunate but i feel like he deserves some grace because tbh 90 percent of us would be just like him. Scared and making mistakes expessially since you never know how it’s like until you’re actually in the situation. We all say “ i would have done this” or “he should have done this” but it’s hard to keep a straight head in scary situations especially as a child or a teenager. I can’t even count the amount of mistakes i made when i was 16, fortunately most 16 year olds don’t have to endure zombie apocalypses, so mistakes can be made freely. Add on stress and the anxiety of trying to survive and you’ll find yourself in ben’s shoes.
And the raiders had already fucked with him and his group when he was hiding out in their highschool with Travis and their teacher and their classmates. I heard there was almost some dialogue where he would’ve told Lee a story about how they came and took over their camp and he didn’t want that to happen again to Lee and his new group, trading medicine for safety. The only line we get that relates to his past with the raiders is his first line after Travis says maybe they can help he says “These could be some of the same guys who raided our camp, and we barely got away from that!” Idk, if you like Ben you probably already know that, I just like how he’s not 100% good or bad he’s just a nervous teen

Ben is by far the single worst character in this season. He provides zero value to the group and he actively made things so much worse because he didn't want to listen to the group in many cases. Also he essentially killed Katja, Duck, and Carley because he caused the raid to occur, and he failed to inform anyone in the group about what was going on. He also left Clementine in the street to die when all he had to do was grab her hand and run towards the group. I don't know how you can make excuses for someone like Ben he deserves the worst.
