- This one I dedicate to all those who partook in our "Hour of Hate" against Vicky 2.5, the literal dwarf: Steve, Juan, No and, why not, our young carrista Luca. I love you, guys.
Enough of internal jokes, now. To History:
After the freemason Garibaldi arrived in Napoli and destroyed the Kingdom of Two Sicilies, the new rulers didn't really like how much the South looked like, and the historical rift between North and South grew even larger. It was not until Mussolini rose to power that this rift would be almost mended, but its effects persist to this day.
Who were the Brigands, you may ask. The answer is simple, they were exactly like their name points out.
"Brigandry" existed for ages all throughout Italy, maybe as a proto-mafia, or just common brawlers and robbers doing the same thing for ages.
But it wasn't until the big ideological fights reached the peninsula that the Brigands became a real impacting factor.
As the Sicilian Kingdom of that time was very closely aligned to the Holy See, many of the conflicts reached both the Papal States and the Sicilies, with the latter's clergy actively acting on behalf of it.
They fought by the Church and Crown in several occasions, with a few becoming notable Sanfedisti like Antonio Caprara and Michele Pezza, AKA Fra' Diavolo.
When Italy became a country, the Brigands became social outcasts, guerrilleros and many formed the backbone of many a mafia family.
Not all of them wanted to give the throne to the Bourbons, some just wanted to get rich and had their own motivations.
But this is a tribute to those who fought for the Southern House.
I don't really support or condemn them, but we're a Catholic channel and we'd be damned if we didn't give our Bourbonic followers a gift (or two) once in a while.
Our hatred for the Savoys unites us.
Lyrics:
Ammo pusato chitarre e tamburo
Pecché 'sta musica s'adda cagnà
Simmo Briganti e facimmo paura,
E cu a scuppetta vulimmo cantà
E mo cantammo sta nova canzone
Tutta la gente se l'adda 'mpara
Nuje cumbattimm p’o rre Borbone
'A terra è 'a nosta e nun s'adda tucca'

Se so' scetati e vonno luttà
Pure 'a Calabria mo s'è arrevotata
E stu nemico 'o facimmo tremmà
Chi ha visto o lupo e s'è miso paura
Nun sape buono qual è a verità
O vero lupo ca magna 'e creature
È 'o Piemontese c'avimma caccià
Femmene belle ca date lu core,
Si lu brigante vulite salvà
Nun 'o cercate, scurdateve 'o nome
Chi ce fa guerra nun tene pietà
Ommo se nasce, brigante se more,
Ma fino all'ultimo avimma sparà
E si murimmo, menate nu fiore
E na preghiera pe'sta libertà

So I got addicted to this song. And what was my surprise when I found out princess Teresa Cristina of the Two Sicilies had married the Emperor of Brazil, my country. Her daughter abolished slavery here. We are a republic now but the cultural movement to restore the monarchy is growing. May her blood reign again in my country.
Let us pray for the Monarchist movement!

This is not an old song. The song was published by Eugenio Bennato in 1979 and became famous because it was part of the soundtrack of a tv movie titled 'L'eredità della priora' based on a novel concerning the Southern resistance against the annexion to the north of Italy. The war in Southern Italy is very little known but it lasted from 1860 to 1875 and it was a bloody guerrilla war that cost more than 100.000 deaths.
Así es.
Pino Aprile nel testo "Carnefici" da pag. 391 a pag.
Exactly, and the original versions sings "we don't give a f*ck about the Bourbon king", not "we fight for the Bourbon king" like this one.
Of course they weren't fighting for the monarchy, they were fighting for their land!

My family is from southern Italy and its really amazing and just cool to find these songs, I love it! Keep it up :)
It's not romantic, it's a hidden tragedy. Twenty millions of southern people live without knowing their real and true history. We actually are a North 's colony.
Between 1860 and 1863 the forces that contrasted the brigandage, which initially could count on 22,000 men weapon of Bersaglieri”, were brought up to 120,000 men, half of all the Italian Army; They were under the command of General Enrico Cialdini. It was a war fought hot and heavy between the Brigands and the regular forces. A state of siege was declared and military law of war was applied for a more effective fight. More than 5,000 bandits or assumed were killed, and another 5,000 arrested, The Italian army was not difference between the real bandits and those who had the fortune or misfortune to favor them in some way.

--I'm for the Bourbons, better whiskey there ! Ma Evviva il principe Aimone, Re d'Italia !
@@godefroydebouillon1440 Non.

Abbiamo posato chitarre e tamburi
Perché questa musica si deve cambiare
Siamo briganti e facciamo paura
E col fucile vogliamo cantare
E col fucile vogliamo cantare
Ma fino all'ultimo dobbiamo sparare
E se moriamo lanciate un fiore
E una bestemmia per questa libertà
E una bestemmia per questa libertà
English translation:
We've put down guitars and drums Because this music has to change
We are brigands and we are scary
And with the gun we want to sing
And with the gun we want to sing
And now let's sing a new song
All people have to learn it
We fight for the Bourbon king
And the earth is ours and must not be touched
And the earth is ours and must not be touched
All the villages of Basilicata
Have woken up and want to fight Calabria too has now revolted
And let's make this enemy tremble
And let's make this enemy tremble
Who saw the wolf and got scared
He doesn't quite know what the truth is The real wolf who eats children
Is the Piedmontese that we have to hunt It is the Piedmontese that we have to hunt
Beautiful women who give your heart
If a brigand you want to save
Do not look for him, forget his name
Those who make war on us have no mercy
Those who make war on us have no mercy
Man you are born, brigand you die
But until the last we have to shoot
And if we die, throw a flower
And a blasphemy for this freedom
And a blasphemy for this freedom

Those italian/sicilian Briganti who fought the french remind me of polish/slovak gorals especially highwaymen leader Janosik who is somewhat of goral Robin Hood. He robbed austrian nobles and gave the loot to the local poor.
I'm always glad to see Italian patriots at polish independence day march (11.11) at Warsaw. I hope to see you this year as well.
Long live to the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies from Poland and Ave Christus Rex!
Not only sicialians, Briganti were all the Southern Italians.. Campania, Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia, Abruzzo, Basso Lazio. The major Briganti were from Basilicata (Potenza and Rionero) like Carmine Crocco and Ninno Nanco.
They were either italian or Sicilian....since they fought against italain unification and northern Italian colonization of the South.
this music looks very mexican for me, even being this music being italian, and this is strangelly amazing
Lmao not at all trust me
@@quaquack669 I believe in you, but kinda looks like, I dunno, looks very mexican for me.
@@danielbruceagra9022 The language of the song is not even Italian, it's Neapolitan, a different language recognized by the UNESCO.

Neapolitan music has elements such as “castañuelas” and guitar that are commonly used in Spain as well, both regions are latin-mediterranean and were actually part of the same empire for centuries and cultural exchange obviously happened. Needless to say that México and all hispaniamerican countries are a direct product of Spain, and all of their traditional music, such as Mariachi, has this latin-mediterranean elements that tie the countries culturally, even if people doesn’t realize it

"It was not until Mussolini rose to power that this rift would be almost mended, but its effects persist to this day."
Could you elaborate on this? Are you just talking about the generalities of his Fascist ideology "unifying the country" or are there specific things he did to mend this rift that you could educate me on?
I wouldn't say that it persists to this day. Yes there are neo bourbonic organizations in southern italy, but they are mostly focused on preserving the history of the kingdom of two sicilies instead of actual secession.
@Local83 unfortunately for you there are not many people who think like that anymore...
lmao i know it hurts the liberal sensibility to admit it, but Mussolini is the father of modern Italy. From ending the Roman Question with the popes to combatting the mafia, hunger and poverty to even creating the italian cinema industry from nothing into stardom, Mussolini simply picked up all the dregs and loose ends left by the inpet Savoy monarchy and made italy into a proper unified nation.
Of course, after he was gone that would quickly be their end as well, no matter how eagerly they betrayed him.
@@vroomkaboom108 I agree with some things Mussolini did and disagree with others. Cliché as it is, allying with Hitler and the resulting consequences was his worst decision, as was passing the antisemitic laws. Prior to that, yeah, even neutral historians agree most Italians liked him. Despite that there's other criticisms I could make.
Siendo aragonés y español, me enorgullece este escudo.

This is the censored song. The original say: “Non ce ne futte do o’re Burbone” “We don’t fight for King Burbon” and at the final say “E na bestemmia pe sta libertà” “A blasphemy for our liberty”
Neat
Lets flip the table and repeat the history once again

I'm sorry to disappoint you but this isn't a traditional song. It was composed by Eduardo Bennato, a popular italian singer, for a fiction in the television in the 80s. The original lyrics doesn't say "we fight for the Bourbon king" but it says "we don't care about the Borboun king". This is becouse the brigands weren't monarchist rebels but people who fought against the landowners, that was very powerful under the Borboun monarchy. So at the beginning the were even pro-Savoy becouse the saw in them a sort of possible liberation but when they realized that things didn't changed the continued to fight against them too.
It stills a beautiful song btw...
Actually it more accurately translates to "we don't give a fuck about the Borboun king"
Yopu're wrong; it was replayed from a singer called Carlo D'Angio' ; and the original was from Countryside people of naples those times; original line is...we fight along side the Borbons; then changed after Italy unite; cause of Italian propaganda didn't want this ''high words'' against Italy to be sing! Stop tellinfg rubbish!
@@vojvodd , that's the changed words; the originals says: we fight alongside with the Bourbons!
@@vnnxyz1473 nope bro, find a Source. The one who created the Monarchist version admitted to doing so
@@vojvodd ,no buddy...I'm total right 100% ; change your sources as from naples and know well the story of the song! The Italian Kingdom and propaganda forced to change word to make it ''falselly pro-italian''!
feel like I always knew these chants
Especially after passing the Legge Pica legislation in 1863, an extremely strong handed repression of the brigands by the Italian authorities picked up; it also allowed the execution of relatives and those suspected with collaborating or helping a brigand.[8] Villages such as Pontelandolfo and Casalduni in the Province of Benevento are famous for the massacre of civilians by the so-called "Piedmontese" authorities. In total several thousand southerners were arrested and executed, while many more were deported or fled the country (see Italian diaspora).[3]
