On voit une certaine influence de l'empire français
La periode ou la 3eme republique voulait construire a tout prit une identité Nationale pour stabiliser le pays, dans le cas revanchiste quoi de mieux que les ref a l'empire (suite de la revolution Française) qui a écrasé militairement l'europe
En meme temps le 2nd empire etait encore dans les memoires de beaucoup de personnes âgées dans les debuts de la 3e rep quand bien meme cette dernière a basiquement chercher a detruire tout symbole de l'empire pour se legitimer davantage

There is a painting of the soldiers laying down and from what I see, there seems to be them dreaming about their ancestors above in the skies (Probably during the Revolutionary or Napoleonic times but I could be wrong) does anyone know the name of this painting or the meaning behind it?
