The J Class number 611 builtby the Norfolk & Western Railway in their Roanoke,VA shops & the Lima built GS-4 number 4449 which is in the Southern Pacific Daylight colors are my two most favorite 4-8-4 steam locomotives that still do excursion runs. The Norfolk & Western Railway was the King of Steam locomotives and their steam locomotive whistles are the best.
For some reason, I just can’t stand hearing the modern electronic crossing bells, then the steam whistle. Just seems mechanical bells would be much more fitting.
