I lucked up with my 1st little Maltese, Toto. He appeared @ the local shelter just waiting for me to get him. Fell in love with each other. Had him for 10 years when he got cancer and to put him down was worse than a stake in my heart. I went through depression, anxiety and loneliness like there was not tomorrow. 2 years later I drove 4 hrs. to get another little rescue Maltese. His name was Bug. Loving and so appreciative to have a new loving home. Each of my babies were the sweetest most lovable little companions I could ever hope for. Bug passed in his sleep with congestive heart just 3 months ago. I miss him so much and, in my heart, I want the joy of another little Maltese. But my body is weak, and I know it would not be fair to the baby being I could not give it proper care. I fall in love with every Maltese I see, but look is all I can do. Written in loving memory of "Toto", & "Bug".
Our Maltese seemed perfectly healthy. She would just gag and choke a lot from all the barking and excitement when we got home after being out. 2 days ago at the age of 12 years and 5 months she suddenly fell very ill over the course of just a few hours and was diagnosed with cancer at the end of the oesophagus. It probably explains the choking and gagging. We are devastated that we had to have her put down. They are simply the sweetest and most loving little dogs. Our home will not be the same without her. I would want another one but hate the idea of comparing and will wait a while.
We just adopted a Maltese from a shelter. He's almost 3. Love of our life. Lots of energy and soooooooooooo loveable. Can't imagine our life without him. He does some new every day.
I have owned four Maltese. Absolutely wonderful dogs that are extremely affectionate and loving. As a responsible owner of a Maltese, you must brush them daily as well as brush their teeth with toothbrushes and toothpaste made especially made for dogs. NEVER use people teeth care products for their little mouths. They fall in love with their owners and love love people. They are kind, loving and their place is on your lap. Please do not get a Maltese unless you dedicate yourself to attending to them properly and having yearly checkups. They crave your attention and they deserve your attention when it comes to caring for them.
💯 % agree with you there!. Mine gets the best of the best too. I cook for him, have him checked up, teeth cleaned at the vets every 2/3 years, comes on holidays with me… hair grooming every 6 weeks, love him to bits. He’s everything to me.. 🦴🐶🦴🐾❤️
Not just Maltese... do *not* get a *dog* at all, unless you are going to dedicate yourself to tending to them properly with vet care and love and attention, and keep them inside your home (not outside or chained up outside, I hate people who do that!). All dogs, all pets, deserve our attention and affection.
My Maltese, Barley, is my "white shadow". He stays next to me morning and night. He is my 2nd Maltese. I've had a lot of different dog breeds in my life. Maltese are my favorite because they are happy and intelligent little cuddly, well behaved cuties.
I have a Maltese dog by name "Pikachoo". He is just one year old. Very sweet and intelligent companion. "He is Daddy's Boy and Mamma's Joy". My Maltese has all the traits you mentioned. My Maltese is very adorable and loving.
We've had our little Maltese, Oscar, for just over a year now. He's about 12 lbs and full of energy. Just the cutest thing I ever did see. I absolutely hate leaving him in the morning when I go to work, but he knows when I'm just about to walk out the door, and he goes to his bed in the kitchen and goes back to sleep. He hears my Truck pull in the drive and runs down stairs to meet me at the door when I get home, jumping up and down, tail wagging a mile a minute, just letting me know I'm loved, I was missed, and he's so happy I'm home. Coming home to him is the favorite part of my day. No matter how bad my day might have been, he just has a way of melting all the stress away. If I had it my way, I'd spend all day, every day with him, and in just about 4 years, I'll be able to do just that, when I retire. Oscar will be 5 years old then, and we'll have a lot of time to spend together, me and my little buddy. Now, I just need to get the little guy house broken. I must say, I've never had a dog that was so difficult to house train. It's never taken me longer than 2 weeks in the past, and we've had a lot of dogs. This guy; however, is a whole different story. They are extraordinarily lovable, but can be very strong willed. It's easy to get into the habit of giving in, and letting them have their way. They don't like the word "No", and can be quite tenacious in insisting what they want; and with them being so darn cute, it's hard not to give into them. But, they don't hold a grudge when you hold out and not give in, they are always ready to dump a truck load of love on you. We are so glad Oscar has become a part of our family, and I couldn't imagine my day without him now. He's my little buddy and close friend.
I have had 2 malties, not together. Becky and Ben. Full of mischiefs, loved water, sludge , rounding up large dogs, and escaping. Minds of their own, understood everything we said, and ignored every word. Wonderful loving dogs. I have had 8 dogs over many years, all rescues except Becky. Finding it hard now as getting on in years to have no dogs but will never forget my malties. Xx love following you ,
Hi. My babes lived a good long life, 18 years and people still thought they were puppies. Becky was taken to our local police station one when she escaped. The people who took her to the station had rather unfriendly dogs, but told the police she lived in the area. When we fetched her she was sitting on the counter, loving the attention, surrounded by big policemen. Apparently she had had the run of the place lol. They just take your heart.
@@m.f.b7144 Aren't they awesome?! I just shared about about my little Maxie. My mom had a Maltese that also passed away this year, Murphy. She was blessed with him for 16 years. Keep on loving your little guy or gal.
@@matt8637 I’m hoping mine will reach those years. He’s soon 11 and I enjoy his company so much.. Im hoping he’ll be with me for a very long time. He’s my fur baby. 🐶❤️♥️😇🌺
I'm a 6 foot 7 inch tall 260 pound bald, tattooed, bearded, construction worker that sings in a death metal band and my wife and I would love to have one of these little dudes running around our home, but they are so loveable and sweet no body gives them up to a shelter and we won't go to a breeder, so thanks for the video. Until our luck changes we'll have to live vicariously through you folks.🤘
Just lost my 15 year old Maltese...loved him so much, can’t stop crying, that is why I am looking at this video so I can cry some more...so sad...but would definitely get another one, so loving..they are wonderful
I understand your pain completely. I had a female maltese and she passed at 13. Had her since I was a child and she lived up until I was about 19. I didn't have another dog for years! But it gets easier, friend! You'll meet again on the rainbow bridge.
I fell in love with my Sadie, Maltese mixed breed the second I laid eyes on her at the rescue. She was given up for adoption while pregnant at 5 years of age. Now, after being with me for 1.5 years, she is my constant, loyal companion. She goes everywhere with me and it is a rare day when she is left by herself at home. She loves her daily walks, meeting other dogs, (large and small), road trips in the car, enjoys musical events and other outings. She has even been on a plane and handled it like a flying ace. When friends come to the house she is intensely protective and tries to be intimidating but will eventually warm up. She is very attached to me to the point of fixation. She still tries to intimidate my daughter on a daily basis by growling and barking at her, while playfully following her and wagging her tail anytime she comes downstairs. She will let my grown daughter pet her and Sadie will lick her fingers but she will not allow my daughter to hold her. I have never known a dog to be so fiercely loyal to one person and I have never loved a dog this much. She is like my live stuffed animal that comes with me everywhere I go. I love her fun spirited personality. Who rescued who? Bringing her home was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. BTW…Thank you for making this video! Sadie watched it in its entirety, she LOVED it! I wish I could show you the video of it. Lol! Yep, she’s super smart too.
OUR LITTLE MALTESE HOLDS ALL THE TRAITS YOU MENTIONED. OUR GIRL IS DEFINETLY A DADDY'S GIRL AND WON'T LEAVE HIS SIDE. SHE LOVES ME ALSO BUT YOU CAN SEE THE LOVE SHE HAS. AND THEY ARE SMART.
My Jazz lived 17 years. He was my best friend, my joy, my unconditional ♥. So smart, I miss him to this day. I have his ashes, and when it's my time, he goes with me. The love a Maltese gives is a love to cherish. Someday we will run and play across that Rainbow 🌈 Bridge.
I absolutely love Xanti! He is such a sweet, beautiful ray of sunshine! Not being able to love on my puppy makes my heart hurt, so I'm even more grateful for these videos.
Have a 12 yr old Maltese, Carol. She everything you said, BUT, she is a stubborn little girl 😂. My favorite thing about Carol is she will just up and leave the room when she’s had enough. Greatest fur baby ever💕
Thanks for sharing. I just owned one yesterday and he's 8 weeks old. I have a long way to go, and I need to learn everything. He's very playful today and very adorable. He's a Korean Maltese. So excited for this journey with my family as first-time owners. We named him Louis Dior.
I love my Maltese 🥰! He is my CHILD! Such a sweet boy and very smart. When I leave for work and come home, he'll pee on his pee pad and ALWAYS pull one corner over to cover his "mess" and show us that he did his business 😂😭😭 He's so smart! We didn't even train him to do that. Haha.
I have two Maltese mixed puppies right now…both male. They are my loves. ❤️ I had a purebred Maltese many years ago. She was amazing. I just love these dogs…I see you feel the same way!
I adore my Maltese. Darwin is the most loving dog I ever had. My third Maltese in 30 years. They are so adorable. Tiny, feisty, fearless, and my snug-a-bunny. Maltese rule me. 😁😁
The end of March of this year, someone abandoned a Maltese on my front porch. Almost 5 months later, he is literally my shadow, and protector against my husband lol. Since he was abandoned, his separation is past severe, but he's just the sweetest dog of all the dogs, I've had
@@XantiTheMaltese thank you. In April, they estimated that he was a year to a year and a half. He's so spoiled that I've had to change my training strategy because he's been training me lol. I love it though, he's a whole character.
I had a maltese, her name was Bella, she was beautiful and loving, she passed away my heart broke saying goodbye to hear, I will be forever in my heart.
Sharon settle. It's my story. I had also a Maltese and her name was Belle. She passed away on the first of september. I am missing her so much and don't forget her. Stay strong Sharon.
Feeling your pain. I had to put my beautiful Shephard down about a year and a half ago. He was 10 years old, but except for the brain tumor, he was as healthy as a pup. Big, beautiful and solid white, just a wonderful companion. I thought my world came to an end when he passed, I haven't cried that hard in years. I still tear up when I think about him. We got Oscar, a Maltese, a year ago, and that little guy has helped more than I can say to ease the pain. He's just a delight to have around, so up-beat, happy and loving. Maltese just have a special way about them to touch your heart, and make you smile again. I'm sorry for your loss, I know how that hurts.
My maltese boggie is the sweetest thing, I live in a small community and everyone loves him and he loves them right back. I didn't know how to knit a dog sweater until I had him, now I'm pretty good at it. I also make me a hat and or a scarf to match his. I love him to pieces.
Maltese are such sweet dogs! A few years ago mine was given to me by a relative whose lifestyle wasn't compatible with having dogs, so she asked me to take one, her mother took the other; the puppy and I had bonded when I was watching her little girls a few days a week and he's a very sweet little guy. The funny thing is that in the condo I live in there are only 3 dogs on my floor, one is mine which is a maltipoo (8 years), another is a full-bred maltese (very senior!), and the last is a malti-shitzu (bad spelling, sorry anyway, he's still a puppy)... and they are all little buddies when they happen to meet when out for walks. Cutest, sweetest dogs around but the funny thing is that the sweet little girls on our floor are SO afraid of dogs; totally understand, I was the same way when I was little, deathly afraid of dogs and cats, now a huge fan. Don't judge, if kids aren't around animals on a daily basis and parents arent huge fans, small kids can just become fearful of teeth and claws. My sister was bitten by a german shepherd when I was a preschooler and the stupid barber they took me to get my hair cut had a really nasty little ankle-biter yappy mutt. Not all dogs are friendly and nice, some aren't good around strangers and shouldn't be forced on others who aren't interested.
I have two Mali-Tzu’s, and they are absolutely amazing, one looks like a Shih-Tzu and the other like a Maltese, and their personalities are so different!!💕
I have a Maltese/Shih Tzu mix, also known as a Malshi. I adopted him from a litter of 8. Their parents were up for adoption, too. The owners were an elderly couple who surrendered them. When I tell you he is the best boy, it’s an understatement! One thing I noticed about him is he really doesn’t like going out much. He usually wants to hurry home once he finishes his business. He’s such a sweet & beautiful boy. Everyone loves him! People are always commenting on how cute he is! It’s nice to know that the breed has a long life expectancy although 50 years would never be enough! I cook his food myself & feed him organic chicken & yams or squash. Vet recommended. I hope people seeing this would consider adoption before buying. You’ll be giving a homeless animal a home & they will repay you with endless love & devotion!
I miss my Maltese so much. I have fond memories of taking him to Cabela's every year to have our picture taken with Santa Claus. Mikey was a good soul!
The biggest challenge was keeping my Maaltese safe. Mainly from exposure to chemicals on lawns or dumped. We didn't use harmful lawn chemicals, but others do. Our little Betsy loved walks and she was exposed to a lawn chemical while out on a walk. She developed lymphoma cancer and dies in less than 16 weeks. 15 years old, good health, but one bad 'drink' of water off the street ended her life. I still grieve for my loss. But, thank God I was Betsys' care taker, it was a blessing having that little girl dog. I want another.
I have an 18yrold. She is completely blind and 3 teeth in her mouth. I am making her as comfortable as possible She sleeps 18 to 20 hrs. a day like a cat. She isn't very active and wants to be left alone. I love her anyway.
so sorry for ur loss. i hope my gets to live up to ur angels age too. he will be 14 in December. 4pounds is usually normal for girls though btw. Maltese are usually from 4-8 lbs. but boys can sometimes go up to 10lbs for being bigger boned and being boys. girls are usually between 4-6lbs. usually. my girl was also 4lbs too. she was my everything.
Worked Spinal Cord injury. The maltese was a therapy dog that was so nurturing. They say they have healing wave lengths. They just love so consistently and unconditionally That it brings in the Theta wave lenght. This brain wave length is very healing.
I had my Maltese since he was 6 months old and yes they are lovable. He is now going on 7 years old. I had to give him away to a friend of mine who loves him just as much as I do. I can no longer take care of him due to my health but I get to see him.
Thank you so much for this information! We have a very sweet Maltese mix who displays so many of the things you mentioned. It helps to know what is going on with her. She is a lovely, sweet, loving darling and we love her very much!
It works for me. 😎. I am never lonely since I got my Maltese/Yorkie = Morkie. Dixie looks like the little girl in the video except she has tan ears. I wuv her 🥰🥰🥰 She is the Best dog that I ever had. I will always own a Maltese from now on.
My Maltese/Yorkie is my shadow and best friend. She sulks when I have to leave her and so do I. She's better than any gf I've had. She's tiny at 1.8 kilo. Wouldn't be without her. My advice, get one and never look back
One of my two little white dogs is a pure breed Maltese, checked her DNA...she is a rescue and blind in one eye, only a few teeth left, a surrendered exbreeder, 8 years old and she'd never lived outside a crate, i taught her to walk, she cannot drink water so she gets two teaspoons of water in every meal which is 4 meals a day, special food and has survived two bouts of beast cancer, had a double mastectomy and pees with little heads up but we love her to bits and she snores like a st Bernard...lol.
I love my white shadow as well She's always by my side, always the most patient, lovable obedient and well behaved dog, my nieces and nephews love to play with her ❤️❤️❤️ Hope she lives a long happy life 😃
❤️ Such a cute video. I have had in total so far 4 Maltese. As soon as I lose one. I get another one right away. The two that I have now are fabulous sisters. I love them more and more each day. They are wonderful, loving, superb companions. ❤️
My Maltese/Lhasa Alpo mixed dog, called a Kyi Leo, passed the rainbow bridge a month ago. She was the best dog and my heart is still broken. Xanti reminds me so much of her during her younger years so the video made me smile. Thank you!
Hii, we are so sorry to hear that. Bet you had some great time together. She will be always happy now ❤️ Wish you can perhaps find another baby soon. Thanks for your support and wish that Xantis videos bring you much more joy ❤️💕🐶
I have adopted a Maltese at a shelter. She is full of energy. She is absolutely adorable but she barks at everything that passes by her but she gives so much love that I'm getting used to her barking. Well actually she is the boss at home but she is just so full of life...
The baby looks just like my Cindy, I lost her in June this year , and I miss her very much . She was my baby, she would follow me where ever I went . R I P my little Princess ✝️🙏🏻🐶🙏🏻✝️
Thankyou for your video it was very interesting, we have a 9month little boy as the previous owner couldn’t look after due to bad health, I was wondering what I should use on the brown stains below the eyes, the eyes look clear, I have used warm water but the stains stay?
I also lost our Maltese of 15 this year,he was wonderful, we loved him as our child...I,thought we wouldn’t get another one but we miss him so much that I don’t think we can live without another Maltese in our lives...
I adopted my 4 yrs old female Maltese that weighs 6.6 pounds 6 weeks ago. She had a dental cleaning 3 weeks ago and the vet pulled 6 bottom permanent teeth and 1 baby tooth. She’s too young to be loosing that many teeth. I was shocked. Apparently the previous owner didn’t take care of her teeth. She she has healed from the surgery, I’ll be brushing her teeth every day to prevent problems like this again. I love her dearly. She is a companion dog and goes with me everywhere. She is such a perfect dog.
stay away from wet food. my vet said that toy breeds are always bound to have dental issues. u may need dental cleaning every year or two years or so. thats what we do with our boy. it sounds like the last owner didnt know proper care for ur baby. also sometimes even with brushing they can get dental issues so thats why dental cleaning is so important. i have to get my boys teeth done soon. its just been hard due to the pandemic.
Exactly. I quickly learn many about maltese when i have mine girl. Best breed. I hope she live long time but i never again want see how she "leave the world"like mine previous girl☹️
Hii, we feed Xanti dry food produced by a Czech company ( MARP ) and canned BARF food from another local producer. We sometimes use the dry food as treats along with different types of dried meat, pressed bones etc. (We try to go without additives, colourants) As for water we go with tap water. (that is because the quality from the tap is really good in the Czech Republic) Otherwise we recommend filtered water 😊
stick to holistic dog food. thats true whole ingredients real food. brands like wellness, halo etc. they are more pricier than other unhealthy brands but its so worth it. my boy is doing well and he will turn 14 in December.
My sister found her Maltese at the local SPCA shelter for $75. That was years ago, and her Polly passed away in 2021 of problems that come with old age. She was very lucky to have found her there. She didn't even look like a Maltese until they got her home and gave her a bath and had her groomed a few days later. She was a mess! She was very much all of the things you listed here though.
Maltese is the best breed! I have a 13 year old Maltese, and she has the personality and energy of a puppy! They have the quirkiest personalities. Yours are so *preciousness* ❤❤
We love the Maltese. Our latest is a Coton de tulear and Maltese. He’s on the larger size…..like 18 pounds! That’s the Coton side. He’s our child. Very loving and protective. Very smart and funny.

TEAR STAINS
We are getting many questions on how we keep Xantis' eye area so clean and white.
The truth is that Xanti does not get tear stains naturally since the day we got him.
We have however done everything in our powers to keep it that way and made also a lot of research on it. Here is what can cause tear stains and how to fight it:
1) Additives and colorants in food - Switching to homemade or handcrafted food (you can try B.A.R.F.)
2) Too many minerals in the water - Switching to filtered water
3) Long hair around the eyes - Keep the hair always short, so that it does not poke into the eyes
4) Infections or inflamation - It is always good to consult your veterinarian to see if your dog does not have any conjunctivitis trouble
5) Genetics - Unfortunately sometimes the dogs are prone to tear stains through their genetics, check if your dogs parent had the same issue
In order to whiten Xantis coat we use the Chris Christensen White on White shampoo, it does not contain any bleaching agents and so can be used even around the eyes. It helps removing truly any staining, specially around the mouth.
The real reason for the staining of the tears is low calcium. Tears form hen they get a hair in their eyes. Use an antibiotic eye drop and use a feed with calcium.
Xx love following you
,

Sorry for your loss. The love of a pet is very pure and I know you have many memories.

Thanks for sharing. I just owned one yesterday and he's 8 weeks old. I have a long way to go, and I need to learn everything. He's very playful today and very adorable. He's a Korean Maltese. So excited for this journey with my family as first-time owners. We named him Louis Dior.

That little dog is one of the cutest things I have ever seen in my life. I wish I had gotten one when I was younger.

My maltese boggie is the sweetest thing, I live in a small community and everyone loves him and he loves them right back. I didn't know how to knit a dog sweater until I had him, now I'm pretty good at it. I also make me a hat and or a scarf to match his. I love him to pieces.
They are the sweetest wee fur babies. Very affectionate and cuddly.
I owned 3 Maltese they are the nicest dogs on the planet

Beautiful cute and really lovable dogs I love them
I have a Maltese/Shih Tzu mix, also known as a Malshi.
I TOTALLY AGREE!!👍👍👍🥰 GIVE A HOMELESS DOG A 'Forever' home...you won't be Sorry!!!❤❤❤

Brushing teeth is indeed very important 💓
stay away from wet food. my vet said that toy breeds are always bound to have dental issues. u may need dental cleaning every year or two years or so. thats what we do with our boy. it sounds like the last owner didnt know proper care for ur baby. also sometimes even with brushing they can get dental issues so thats why dental cleaning is so important. i have to get my boys teeth done soon. its just been hard due to the pandemic.

Hello, what type of food, treats and water do you feed Xanti? Thanks He’s precious just like our 3 month puppy!
